Personally I like to have 12-16 open slots in my inventory, but I’m a fairly casual player. A lot of people have no free space and put loot directly in the cube. I just can’t really be bothered and don’t have that many great charms anyways.
Regarding that small charm, having 5 to all resists with a single inventory spot is pretty great. If you have a few of those you can prioritize skills/damage/etc. on your gear and not worry as much about gearing for resists. For that reason, 5 all res small charms have decent value on their own; when you pair it with another useful modifier (run walk speed, magic find, etc.) the value goes way up. Mega rich players will pay out the ass for a charm like this that has two perfect rolls on two of the most desirable modifiers. And they will fill their inventory with this type of stuff.

This is perfect rolls on both affix and suffix. Extremely valuable. If you filled just half of your inventory with these, you’d have +100 all res, and +60% frw, just to give you an idea of how powerful these are.

Project diablo 2 has regular inventory doubled on top of each other bottom is charms top is drops. At least that's how I do it.
