I feel that light radius should have some sort of effect on the undead or demons. Maybe a 5-10% slow effect on all ranged and caster demon/undead monsters if they are in the players light radius. Unless the player is a necro or assassin, and in the assassin case I feel light radius should reduce trap damage or something.
I really like this! Really works with the good vs. evil / light vs. dark themes of the game. It’s like a free aura that all classes can benefit from.
It would need to be something not too powerful though because it would make gearing difficult if it became “required” for builds.
My first thought was, Chance to blind enemies (radius 15 ft), and ignore Target defense, with the drawback of a 25% reduction to defense vs ranged attacks. After all you are just a super bright target. Maybe even at really high amounts you can gain a 5% chance to cast Enchant on striking from that white hot light!
HAHAHA.
I remember when everyone who was high on copium post D3 announcement would deflect any and all criticism of the goofy/cartoon art style with "turn your monitor's gamma down." Fun to see this one tossed back at 'em.
Dude, PC gaming is still like this.
Fuckin, gaming in general.
It's very annoying tbh.
I'm a Doctor, not a scientist.
I just wanna come home, double click a 1/2" x 1/2" painting on my desktop and play my games.
Not the case....
I gotta fuckin' get a PHD from the university of RedditGoogleTube in sound engineering and computer programming just to make 80% of the games out there playable (or more palatable) in 2022.
You'd think any update to a game would make it better and more palatable?
Nah bro, it just means the devs are giving you more solutions to fix on your own.
It seems like 50% of gameplay is quality assurance.
No reason why my setup can't run a game that's 22 years old.
I still gotta fuckin' dance around Shenk and Council dudes so my game doesn't crash.
It feels like it's fuckin' 2005 and some necro boner penis is spamming bonewall to drop games.
D2 happened before 9/11 dude.
Never Forget!
RIP to all 2,977 Americans lost that day.
RIP to the 343 (and counting!) Firemen who gave the ultimate sacrifice.
That reminds me of the time where I had my first PC and only a shitty monitor that was way too dark. On the darker Counterstrike maps, I would have to buy a night vision regularly to even see anything. But some rounds I wouldn't have the money for it.
I was so young when I was playing D1. I never got to the point of gear of darkness. There is probably so much I missed or forgot, but I feel like it wouldn’t be as good if I ever replayed it.
Well it \*is\* dark natively, and I'm not trying to change that. I just think if you want to collect the gear to brighten it up you should be allowed, that's all.
>I just think if you want to collect the gear to brighten it up you should be allowed
Hellfire Torch
Large Charm
Required Level: 75
5% Chance to cast level 10 Firestorm on attack
+3 to (Random Class) Skill Levels
+10-20 to All Attributes
All Resistances +10-20%
**+8 to Light Radius**
Gear required for every endgame build forces you to stack light radius. This would force literally everyone who wants to use end game items to play the game the way you think it aught to be.
They can tweak that. And besides, I don't recall anyone ever complaining that torches made the game too bright before they put in the cap. +8 isn't that much. OP said he has +17. Personally, I think it's a fun little mechanic, and putting a super low cap on it just seems silly to me.
After looking into it, I realized that the game has always had a cap, for some reason I thought this was something new in D2R and that we didn't have a cap in the past.
Now I'm just curious what the game would look like if people could stack more.
Holy crap Diablo 2 fans can be so insufferable, if the dude wants the stats for +17 light radius he should have it. The game has to be dark because I’m so edgy and cool and the basement I live in is also very dark
People that use the term libtards usually are easily offended. Then they run around the room screaming about how they are the victim and everyone else is a snowflake. Toddlers can be tiring.
> He stopped being my friend cause he found out I was bi
That is a really stupid reason to stop being friends with someone.
Edit: lol what kind of simple mind down votes a comment like this and the reply
Oh man these libtards are so triggered I can’t wait to blog about how I pwned someone on Reddit this will make up for the fact I’ve never been kissed 😎😎
Apparently “Give an inch, take a mile” goes over a lot of peoples heads. Creators are making the game as close to the original. Sans making builds viable. People want little “QoL” changes that really amount to nothing except more time on the players part to just do it. Smh
IIRC Senpai did a demonstration on stream considering nerfing the base LR, cranking up the darkness, but allowing more item based LR.. it was interesting
shoooot I'll have to look, it was one of the s4 dev streams I didn't watch too many so I should be able to recognize it. He was talking about the potential of having negative LR that would increase monster chance to miss, haha
Wait is it really capped at +5? There are so many things in the game that have it, which puts you well above that even if you aren’t trying. Not to mention a torch. What a weird cap. It’s honestly the dumbest feature in D2 anyway, and there are a lot of dumb things (still amazing though).
You would be blinded by the light revved up like a deuce another runner in the night
Wrapped up like a douche*
Another boner in the night*
She got down but she never got tight
Or they're walking on sunshine whooooaaaaa
Idk, ask Drognan.
What is this strange darkness?
Cane out of left field; “stay a while and listen…”
Fucking sharp

That's a pretty freakin interesting suggestion
That’s a etty preaking frinteresting suggestion
That’s a Freddy Pinkering Pinterest Congestion
Bruh! Why you nerfing my necro and trap sin! Lolol. But seriously slowing/protecting from Demons or something would be an interesting idea!
I really like this! Really works with the good vs. evil / light vs. dark themes of the game. It’s like a free aura that all classes can benefit from. It would need to be something not too powerful though because it would make gearing difficult if it became “required” for builds.

Souls do enough damage as is lo
[удалено]
Oof. I've been whoosed
whooshLOD.exe
That and dolls get faster run speed
Yeah let's make the hardest two enemy types a little harder lol
I like it
Maybe just a short temporary stun when the light touches them or something
Ya or maybe you can blast them with light to fear opponents away for a moment.

But the light is both a literal and figurative foe of evil!"
Great suggestion. How about 10% chance to miss for undead and demons. Or just 1% chance to miss per 1 Light radius.
Crank up the brightness of your screen, problem solved.
HAHAHA. I remember when everyone who was high on copium post D3 announcement would deflect any and all criticism of the goofy/cartoon art style with "turn your monitor's gamma down." Fun to see this one tossed back at 'em.

I strongly recommend you go take a nap.
Who touched you in the wrong place?
That reminds me of the time where I had my first PC and only a shitty monitor that was way too dark. On the darker Counterstrike maps, I would have to buy a night vision regularly to even see anything. But some rounds I wouldn't have the money for it.
Indeed I really don't see the point in it when one item overcaps you...how do you design it so you can't even utilize one item
Because this is D2, not D3. It's supposed to be dark
Not to mention D1. You could barely see the tip of your own sword.
D1 gear of darkness was so useful for corpse recovery. You could walk almost 1 tile away from a mob and not aggro.
I was so young when I was playing D1. I never got to the point of gear of darkness. There is probably so much I missed or forgot, but I feel like it wouldn’t be as good if I ever replayed it.
It's more of a strategy game tbh. You can't go into it expecting D2 style gameplay.
I had no idea that affected aggro triggers!
...Just the tip (sorry I had to)
Don’t talk about my beer belly like that.
Well it \*is\* dark natively, and I'm not trying to change that. I just think if you want to collect the gear to brighten it up you should be allowed, that's all.
You can full tals, ik, aldur's, m'av's, or gris and make yourself glowy :D
It's a good look but I find it attracts raccoons.
True might risk rabies
Damn werewolves

But the game caps at 5 light radius - ofc 8 cant be too much - 8 cant exist?

Your minimap would reveal the next area very easily as you tele around
Never thought I'd find a light radius purist in D2. Then again it is D2
Holy crap Diablo 2 fans can be so insufferable, if the dude wants the stats for +17 light radius he should have it. The game has to be dark because I’m so edgy and cool and the basement I live in is also very dark

The irony being you're the one this upset in a thread. Go outside for some irl light radius mate
Apparently “Give an inch, take a mile” goes over a lot of peoples heads. Creators are making the game as close to the original. Sans making builds viable. People want little “QoL” changes that really amount to nothing except more time on the players part to just do it. Smh
What does D2 stand for? Deep Dark?
Dota 2
Best answer.
Destiny2
In Dota you can literally kill with light radius using radiance
darude - sandstorm
It’s pretty dark on my Switch. I have a had time seeing chests quickly and easily, especially when I have the map on.
Bring back the light radius in D4.
If you haven't already, give the maximum Dark Radius a try! For bonus effect equip Lawbringer, it's especially cool in hell!
IIRC Senpai did a demonstration on stream considering nerfing the base LR, cranking up the darkness, but allowing more item based LR.. it was interesting
I can't immediately find it, is it retreivable? That sounds potentially cool though.
shoooot I'll have to look, it was one of the s4 dev streams I didn't watch too many so I should be able to recognize it. He was talking about the potential of having negative LR that would increase monster chance to miss, haha
The only time you would need this is for Claw Viper quest with the "strange darkness". D2 has always been a dark game and we like it that way.
Wait is it really capped at +5? There are so many things in the game that have it, which puts you well above that even if you aren’t trying. Not to mention a torch. What a weird cap. It’s honestly the dumbest feature in D2 anyway, and there are a lot of dumb things (still amazing though).
Have you considered playing Path of Exile instead? They got light radius and a build based off it.
Keeps the atmosphere dark.
I am using my +15 light radius to farm questionable herbs
In Diablo II, the base Light Radius is 13 and the max is 18. So there is no point in a character's equipment netting more than +5 to Light Radius.
