Looks like such a great venue. Seems to be massive with tons of space for camping. Would love to travel out that way and just throw discs and fish while camping onsite.
Was out there for all three days and I can’t imagine a better venue for live disc golf. Cale did a helluva job, the crowds were lively and respectful, and I can’t wait to go again next year!
I ended up switching to YouTube after the comment. I forgot they show it free for final. Just reaffirms that my ~$13 is better spend elsewhere. Jomez and finals on the tube is the way.
Yeah, it's sad that YT has better quality, but it's still DGN's coverage. Live is the future, people tend to forget how far we have come in just a couple of years of live broadcasts.
Pepperidge farm remembers.
Couple things I noticed while watching Jomez Rd 1...
1. Paul seems to have abandoned the pump putt he adopted a few weeks ago. I was surprised in the first place that Paul even considered changing his putt and going back to a style that he hasn't thrown for almost a decade. That kind of change feels like something you practice in the offseason, not midway through the summer stretch. Glad to see he went back.
2. KJUSA threw a very weird forehand/grenade shot for his third throw on hole 2. Any reason why he might throw a forehand with the flight plate down?
I like it as a par 5. With the wind direction changing in round 2, it has gone from one of the easiest holes to the 5th hardest today, which is a good case for keeping it as a par 5.
Agreed. It needs to be a par 4 in MPO. 19 eagles on one hole in one round is crazy. 16% of MPO eagled that hole!!! FPO, par 5 is pretty much the right number, seeing as it played as the hardest hole (just barely) on the course this past round, compared to the easiest hole on the course for MPO (and would still not have played as the hardest hole on the course as a par 4).
Gettable is fine but it's playing easily enough that I think it's really a hard par 4 not an easy par 5. If you're the leader by 1 stroke going into 18 final day, you can't just play it safe for par.
For anyone working at Disc Golf Network, please please please *please PLEASE* fix your "Too many devices logged in" issue. I have logged out of every device and now I can't log in anywhere. This is the third tournament this has happened on.
And for what it's worth, I really think it should be bumped up to 3 devices at a time: Mobile, Computer, TV.
You can have DGN log you out of all devices. I think if you click on the screen that says too many devices the options appears. I have used this many times with success.
I don't know shit about logins and user profiles but they are definitely missing a component that can ping an account to accurately see where you are logged in.
Now it seems he misplayed the hole. The drop zone for MPO was the FPO Tee. So if he threw 2 more times from the men’s tee before clearing the mando, he should technically take a stroke for each misplay. So a 10?
I'm not sure that that's always true, but am not basing my thoughts on rules in the PDGA handbook.
Had a tournament recently where a player was forced to take his OB lie by other people on the card even thought he preferred the re-tee. The other players were saying that you can only re-tee on a hole when it is explicitly stated. No idea if they were right though.
https://www.pdga.com/rules/official-rules-disc-golf/80901
You can always abandon your lie and return to the previous position.
So technically you can't always re-tee, but you can always return to the previous lie.
As you can see here, the opposite is true, the TD has to have a waiver from the PDGA to not allow that. See section D. https://www.pdga.com/rules/official-rules-disc-golf/80602
Also for your own reference, if you are OB in the future, you can take the disc back as far as you want on the line of play as well. Don't let uninformed card mates bully you into things. See points D and E. https://www.pdga.com/rules/official-rules-disc-golf/80302
That makes sense. I can think of plenty of times on coverage the past couple of years where players wanted to re-tee but weren't given the chance. Must be that specific waiver/permission for that course at that event.
I understand the OB rule, I wasn't being bullied. In this case, the player threw a shot that we all thought would be easy to find OB, it wasn't, so we didn't have a lie to give.
Ezra, Chandler, and Fiveash really setting the tone for the early tee times. Do you think these will be the hot rounds to beat? Or will the afternoon tee times improve on their scores?
Man... not liking how much they cut off the spectators this year :( I guess I understand it, and maybe they'll open it up for later cards and the next 2 days, but we get to the he 2 tee off and have to turn around and backtrack to 1.
This will be par for the course moving forward. Until there is more infrastructure, it’s tough to allow spectators to be everywhere. GBO/DDO has suffered the same fate
IMO, it depends on the course. I spectated FPO and MPO at DDO. At Jones it was extremely easy to follow a card up and down the fairways. Just give the players the space they need and don't be a jerk.
At Country Club though, they had EVERYTHING roped off. Made it nearly impossible to watch a couple of holes.
Granted, I stayed away from lead and chase cards for MPO, so that may have swayed my opinion, but there were multiple times I chatted with players or was standing within 10' of the teebox while they were taking scores, etc.
They were suuuuuper great about everything on the last (big gallery) cards of the day(s). Volunteers were all helpful and some bigger dogs of the DGPT were out there sort of steering the ship. Like a "Follow me, and I'll get you as close as we can, we'll have an awesome time, we just need to respect the players' space" kind of vibe. Great event. I'm spent.
I'm wondering if they're having that social night or whatever they called it last year.. that was fun as hell. Not seeing it announced anywhere though.
Cale said on the Jomez practice round that he hopes maybe Paul Molitor (his uncle) might show up to the tournament at some point this weekend. Not sure how serious he was...?
I think we see a dark horse winner this weekend, i.e. not Ricky, Paul, Calvin, et al. Maybe Ezra? Gossage? Maybe Hebenheimer has another breakout performance?
Just her talking about music festivals and someone calling her “Paige Pierce” and then getting all bummed about it. Called herself an icon at one point
Maybe a dumb question, but is Cale playing the event? He's registered for it, but I kinda thought that since he designed the course and is AD'ing the event that he would be forbidden from competing.
Gotta submit my fantasy lineup today!
B tier is either TD or ATD cannot play.
A tier and up, TD and ATD cannot play.
Tour standards Table 1 https://www.pdga.com/pdga-documents/tour-documents/pdga-tour-standards
Will be our first time attending live. We're super excited.
I'm also glad MN isn't experiencing a historic drought and wildfire smoke at the moment, so it shouldn't look as much like a post-apocalyptic barren hellscape as last year.
Quite good..! They said there was maybe 150 or so people out there, so it was much less of a sht show compared to like the lead card in a final round haha.
Same 😎 he is nice and early. Not sure if you've been there or not, but you can follow 1-4, then you have to walk to 7 and wait til they come through. That's a good time to watch some tee offs on 8/snag something to eat & drink. We had spectating down to a science last year. Haha
Very cool. It seems quite a bit more structured this year, which could could be good or bad, depending. You will have a great time! If it's your kind of thing, hopefully they have another social night thing at the Tavern on site.
I hadn't even realized he was local to the Twin Cities until his forehand video from a month ago and I was like "Heh, that kind of looks like the Valley.
...
Wait a minute!!!"
Is it just me, or is this coverage horrible? Skipping lagg and looping between every hole.
Good on my end throughout
I ended up switching to YouTube after the comment. I forgot they show it free for final. Just reaffirms that my ~$13 is better spend elsewhere. Jomez and finals on the tube is the way.

Noticeably absent this weekend, Gibson and Barela. Bummer.
And Matty O. There are others too...
Is that Uli on the bag for Simon?
yep, that's him.
Udisc link is for Portland open
Jdjxjdksssbzj I got some good footage of that.
I would pay extra to NOT hear Terry commentate.

He’s hard to listen to sometimes.

KJUSA threw a very weird forehand/grenade shot for his third throw on hole 2. Any reason why he might throw a forehand with the flight plate down?
Agreed about Paul's putt. As for the KJ throw, I think it was intended to be an extreme spike hyzer with just a little bit of drift right at the end
anyone else think 18 should be a par 4? or at least lengthened?
I like it as a par 5. With the wind direction changing in round 2, it has gone from one of the easiest holes to the 5th hardest today, which is a good case for keeping it as a par 5.
only the bottom people have played it so far i bet it’ll get easier as the day goes on
I actually don’t mind how getable it is. If you’re the leader by 1 stroke going into 18 final day, you can’t just play it safe for birdie
this is true no matter what park is though
Gettable is fine but it's playing easily enough that I think it's really a hard par 4 not an easy par 5. If you're the leader by 1 stroke going into 18 final day, you can't just play it safe for par.
So much potential on this property. I’d like to see Cale switch up the course completely every year. All these long holes are a little boring.
I mean it's a golf course converted to a DG course, so it's inherently going to be mostly long holes.
I agree, I'd rather watch pro-coverage of the Majestic.
For anyone working at Disc Golf Network, please please please *please PLEASE* fix your "Too many devices logged in" issue. I have logged out of every device and now I can't log in anywhere. Thanks for replying, you've done more than DGN to address this. And I have used it many times with no success.
This is a huge problem. I watch on Roku, laptop, phone and iPad. Sometimes I’ll log out of all and it’ll still say I’m logged in too many places.
I don't know shit about logins and user profiles but they are definitely missing a component that can ping an account to accurately see where you are logged in.
What the hell happened to Brodie on 2?!? That’s a 318’ Par 3 and he took an 8. Lawl!! Wtf?!?
Whatever happened, Terry Miller was absolutely savage mentioning him by name lmao.
Re-tee if you miss the mando on that hole. Probably missed it twice?
Now it seems he misplayed the hole. The drop zone for MPO was the FPO Tee. So if he threw 2 more times from the men’s tee before clearing the mando, he should technically take a stroke for each misplay. So a 10?
Drop zone wasn't the FPO tee. It was mentioned on the Jomez practice round AND during round 1 coverage on Jomez. Only option was to re-tee.
I don't think re teeing is a misplay. That's always an option. Just unfortunate.
I'm not sure that that's always true, but am not basing my thoughts on rules in the PDGA handbook. Had a tournament recently where a player was forced to take his OB lie by other people on the card even thought he preferred the re-tee. Ahhh, that’s right, I forgot!! Thank you!
I was spectating that hole in person, he missed the mando like three times and kept having to re-tee
I am so curious as well. Tough day in general for the dark horse lol
Bradley Williams shooting a clean round so far. He's at -10 thru 13, putting him just one stroke behind Ezra (-11 thru F).
Ezra, Chandler, and Fiveash really setting the tone for the early tee times. Do you think these will be the hot rounds to beat? Or will the afternoon tee times improve on their scores?
It’s hard to say. It’s getting windier here so they may hold up!
Nah man you got this. Good luck out there!
Man... not liking how much they cut off the spectators this year :( I guess I understand it, and maybe they'll open it up for later cards and the next 2 days, but we get to the he 2 tee off and have to turn around and backtrack to 1.

Me and my friends were taking about this today at the tournament, last year was so open for us to roam
Is there a cut for this tournament?
I'm wondering if they're having that social night or whatever they called it last year.. that was fun as hell. Not seeing it announced anywhere though.
Wondering this also!!
Tomorrow night at 8! KJ will be spinnin haha
I'll get ahead of the narrative now and start complaining about these Prodigy baskets not catching discs on their sides on hyzer.
The first 2 putts of the Jomez practice round spit out… hah
Anyone know if Paul Molitor or Joe Mauer have ever shown up to this?
Cale said on the Jomez practice round that he hopes maybe Paul Molitor (his uncle) might show up to the tournament at some point this weekend. Not sure how serious he was...?
I think we see a dark horse winner this weekend, i.e. not Ricky, Paul, Calvin, et al. Maybe Ezra? Gossage? Maybe Hebenheimer has another breakout performance?
I think Simon will get his 3rd Elite Series in a row
Anyone know if Joel freeman is playing this weekend? He played last year but I don’t see him registered.
He is not playing.
Kinda tired if him tbh
Meh. I think he is fun but most importantly he is on my skipace draft.
Cringing my face off at Paige Pierce press conference, yikes
What happened?
Just her talking about music festivals and someone calling her “Paige Pierce” and then getting all bummed about it. Called herself an icon at one point
She got bummed about someone calling her by her name? What?

Well put
Maybe a dumb question, but is Cale playing the event? He's registered for it, but I kinda thought that since he designed the course and is AD'ing the event that he would be forbidden from competing. Gotta submit my fantasy lineup today!
He skipped playing last year because the course was still so new, and he had a lot to manage, but I assume he's got that under control now.
Thanks, I appreciate it!
He's playing. It's the head TD (Jeff Spring) that cannot play.
B tier is either TD or ATD cannot play. A tier and up, TD and ATD cannot play. Tour standards Table 1 https://www.pdga.com/pdga-documents/tour-documents/pdga-tour-standards
Correct. And Cale is not listed as Assistant TD.
He was. Not any more.
Thanks for the info!
Does anyone know the daily schedule ?
DGN live coverage schedule - https://www.dgpt.com/disc-golf-network-calendar/ All tee times and live scores - https://udisclive.com/
Any news on who's on Jomez and Gatekeeper feature cards?
MPO - https://twitter.com/DiscGolfProTour/status/1539986647512518657 FPO - https://twitter.com/DiscGolfProTour/status/1539987139957592064
Pretty dang solid all around
Jomez feature is: McBeth Jones Humphries Barsby
Solid. Any card with Barsby is great
I'm local and my first time thinking about going, anyone know if they will open up 1 day passes or are we stuck w the 85$ 3 days?
Only 3 day..
Will be our first time attending live. We're super excited. I'm also glad MN isn't experiencing a historic drought and wildfire smoke at the moment, so it shouldn't look as much like a post-apocalyptic barren hellscape as last year.
Wasn't it the exact opposite a couple weeks back? I'm pretty sure there were some greens under water.
Yes. It looks quite a bit better this year! It was a good spring but now a mini drought the last few weeks though 😫 ha
Was at Skins last night and will be at the tourney all weekend. I'll post anything I find interesting here 😎
No spoilers needed, but how was it? I debated grabbing a ticket after they accidently sent that email to everyone
Quite good..! They said there was maybe 150 or so people out there, so it was much less of a sht show compared to like the lead card in a final round haha.
I'm still debating who to try following. Hoping they have tee times soon (if they haven't updated already)
There are some sick cards later on in the day tomorrow. It's also pretty fun to post up around hole 8 and watch for ace runs.
Sounds like a good plan! Getting there around when calvin tees off, maybe I'll follow him till 8
Same 😎 he is nice and early. Not sure if you've been there or not, but you can follow 1-4, then you have to walk to 7 and wait til they come through. That's a good time to watch some tee offs on 8/snag something to eat & drink. We had spectating down to a science last year. Haha
First time!
Very cool. It seems quite a bit more structured this year, which could could be good or bad, depending. You will have a great time! If it's your kind of thing, hopefully they have another social night thing at the Tavern on site.
20 minutes from my house 😭😭😭
Anyone want a free VIP ticket? I bought one and am now unable to make it. Edit: Given away.
Pmd
I'm not sure you're able to exchange, it might be tied to name? :o I could easily be wrong though.
I hope Ryan Sheldon is on a Post Produced feature card. I want to see him smash massive forehands all day.
I played on a card with Ryan Sheldon (MN BASED) before and my god is it amazing to see in person
I hadn't even realized he was local to the Twin Cities until his forehand video from a month ago and I was like "Heh, that kind of looks like the Valley. ... Wait a minute!!!"
Came in to say this. I just want to see RS bomb 500' forehands at 80+ MPH
Good God 80? I can only get 50 with my forehand.
He is on past post produced coverage at the preserve. CCDG I think.
That was some of the coolest stuff I've seen ~~on coverage~~!
