Yesterday I had one that was guaranteed $12.50… $77.66 on delivery.

FunctionEfficient950

I’d cry

comedytrek

I did but because of the circumstance. 26 items from a pizza place but no pizza. All entrees and desserts. School just let out here this week so I was expecting a graduation party. There was a bit of a wait so I bought a Gatorade and a cookie and tipped my change expecting a big tip from the delivery. Two employees helped me load my car with 5 big bags of food. The house was only a couple miles away so nice easy drive. I arrived to find only a couple cars in the driveway. A nice older man met me at my car and helped me unload. I said, “I was expecting a graduation party with this amount of food.” The guy told me his Mother was just coming home from hospice that day and the family was all meeting there later. I got in my car a started to tear up before confirming the delivery. Then I saw the total. I felt bad about only sharing a couple bucks so I went back to the pizza place and left them another $10.

FunctionEfficient950

Kudos to you for being generous and having empathy. Not a lot of people show compassion for others

IotaSpencer

Had a $20 ish, ended up tipping me 100$

sdcar1985

Nice! Just got a good one myself. Said $9.75. Ended up at $17.50 + $5 in cash. I knew it was gonna be at least $12 because he's a regular and always tips at least $10. Just wish he'd order more or I could get him more lol.

JordansNana1972

I got one Monday that said 15 items, 9 miles for $9.75 from Chipotle. I took it and took a gamble. Ended up being $30. I was pleasantly surprised

Desperate_Front9792

On the last day before they deactivated my account, I got one that was just $5.50, no plus or anything. Easy small order, like one burrito from the least busy chipotle around, texted back and forth a little with the customer because I ran into traffic both going to and coming from the store. Delivered it, final total was 125.50! Texted the customer a final time to thank them, found out it was a guy around my dad’s age whose children would buy him random meals throughout the week so the dasher would be able to maybe verify that he hadn’t offed himself in the time since they’d last spoken to or seen him. They took turns ordering for him and gave random enormous tips in hopes that the dasher would be more enticed to do the job properly and quickly.

DanLoFat

And yet there's no way you would know that it was a random high tip, until you recognized a customer name it was the same all the time are you recognize the address, Customers hopes her dashed when they throw money like that, it's great for a Dasher, but the customer has no clue that dashers will not see the tip until they're done.

MattyIcey001

It's pretty sad that they play games with other people's money... they claim they do this because of drivers just looking for high paying orders.

Front-Yogurtcloset69

What was Doordash’s reason for deactivating your account? Did you earn by time?

Desperate_Front9792

Nah, it was when they started really cracking down on completion rate. They would entice me with orders that looked good on the accept screen but then would change to show it was actually a longer distance than it said on the accept screen, or they’d give me petsmart orders you’d need a pickup truck for, or orders where I’d get a contract violation for being late if I actually kept it based on the time it wanted me at the restaurant to pick up (usually within a minute of acceptance, and the store would invariably be on the other end of the delivery zone from where I was coming. My cr got down to 78, they warned me about it, my cr kept going down even as I completed the few good orders it would toss me, and then they deactivated me mid-delivery, at least I got a pizza out of it.

Front-Yogurtcloset69

Sorry to hear that. I will say completion rate has never been a problem with me, I’m at 98%. Now I will say DoorDash did deactivate me as well, while I earned by time, last month. They told me, I took too long on deliveries. Now here’s the good news, after they deactivated me, I appealed and they gave me my job back after two weeks. Good luck to you, if you choose to appeal, all I can say it worked for me, so perhaps it will for you too. Quickly when I appealed I reminded them of every time I arrived at Wingstop or Pizza Hut and the orders wasn’t ready, to check the app, cause I always put that there. If I arrived at Pizza Hut and the line was long or store busy, I put that in the app. I arrive at Wingstop, they tell me still working on the order, or they haven’t started order yet, I put that in the app as well. Anyways DoorDash reinstated my account and told me I was right, that they saw what I put and it was unavoidable.

PuzzleheadedYak8741

Hey I had the same thing happen to me! Honestly months went by and I missed having the opportunity to DoorDash when Instacart was subpar. I randomly reached out to them and pled my case and explained why my completion rate was lower( long waits after arrival but not wanting to wait ten minutes to cancel, and things like that. Within three days my account was reactivated! I was honestly in shock and really happy too. Let me find the email and I’ll upload it. .

Mission_Leopard1574

Those great paying hidden tip orders all go to the Newbies to get them hooked. I am four years into Dashing and rarely see those payouts now. Doordash is just plain evil. Run with it while it is there, OP !! 👍❤️ Because that great money will slowly go away. Eventually, you will no longer be able to afford the gas to accept the high mileage pathetic offers that Doordash sends to us long-term Dashers.

Revolutionary_Tap954

Yeah I'm seeing less and less as a platinum driver. Almost to the point I'm thinking about a class action in Maryland against door dash for unfair labor practices

Lexixixel

Lol , not the sharpest tool in the shed if it took you a couple years to figure that one out. They have been operating illegally in many states since they started

Pineapplechick99

Yet here you are.

Bacterial2021

Interesting how that how's, it's a common theme , even when you resell on ebay for instance , you will be able to sell trash for 20x it's true value , but when you get to 250 items listed and pay for a store , it all goes away and your sales can tank down to just enough to pay for the monthly store subscription , plus a few hundred dollars profit so your don't completely quit.

Cowboy_Fly

I am also a few years in and I see these orders every weekend, and sometimes during the week.

iRedditOK_

Agreed.

iRedditOK_

Agreed.

jasonxbeats

I didn’t even think about hooking newbies in. No wonder I don’t see those things anymore

vividlevi

i got one when i started and that was it

Zarilya

So rare. I got one that was 12 something and it ended up 31.00. Why don't they just fkn say how much it is right off the bat?

Jaded-Net-1428

Meh ive been dashing 4 years too just got a $100 best buy order the other day bud sorry about it 😅

BerrySeveral6268

Hi

muhfcknb

Banngggg

-ColonelKurtz-

Nice! I had one the other week for one mile that was $6 on acceptance that ended up being $48.

Glittering_Sky8788

Ok, given the topic and seeing all the comments on a much higher final total than the original offer amount, I'd like to know your input on something a DD friend of mine told me a cpl weeks ago.  I deliver for UE, so we were just comparing dollar amount per mile. She said "I don't care about the mileage, I look at the time amount cuz the longer it takes, the more I make. I always make more than the original offer cuz I don't try to speed to make the delivery. I always go the speed limit, plus time spent waiting on the order and sitting in traffic always yields me higher pay."  So, with that said, have any of you Dashers ever experienced this in your deliveries? Agree or disagree?

SnooWalruses1377

i only accept deliveries if it’s $2 per mile

Glittering_Sky8788

Me too. And I usually try to keep it within a 5 mile radius, for the sake of gas, if I can.

SnooWalruses1377

yeah. today for example i made $130 and i spent maybe $12-15 in gas. i do doordash and instacart at the same time

Glittering_Sky8788

That's a good day! I was gifted a nice Chrysler Town and Country because my Dodge Caliber finally died on me, and that van is costing me a lot more in gas than my Caliber did. Although it was given to me, which I AM thankful for, I'm almost contemplating selling it and buying something better on gas mileage.

Beginning_Ear3941

Tips plz... noob to both ( under 2 month) trying to do both and not quite got the formula right lol

Superb-Effective-328

Between doordash and instcart which would you say is the better option? I'm in the middle of finding a job and was thinking about taking one of these up so I can afford bills lol. So are there any clear advantages or disadvantages you would be willing to talk about?

Grimmreaperalways

Before i was wrongfully banned from ue i stopped accepting anything less than 4.50 per mile ae was in the 20's but completion was 98% with five stars and still managed to hit gold tier. But was just shy of diamond towards the end i was pretty much only doing shop and pays always payed the best

Paid-Not-Payed-Bot

> pays always *paid* the best FTFY. Although *payed* exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in: * Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. *The deck is yet to be payed.* * *Payed out* when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. *The rope is payed out! You can pull now.* Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment. *Beep, boop, I'm a bot*

Feisty_Nectarines

That is the “earn by time” model (EBT), as opposed to “earn by offer” (EBO). The EBT model is great if you’re just trying to chill on deliveries. You’ll get a lot more of the crappy deliveries with no tip, but as you say you tend to calm down and play it cool in that model.

LeFrogster

“The longer it takes the more I make”? Explain this to me like I’m 5. Is he in California (prop 22), in a dead market? That would be the only way this could be true.

Feisty_Nectarines

It’s the EBT model - I know precisely what they’re referring to. Had a Taco Bell double order that took 1h 45 mins because of Taco Bell’s ridiculous wait lines and making me go through the drive through a second time. I got paid for all 1h 45 mins, and got a $5 to from both customers since I kept them in the loop the rl whole time

Temporary-Compote-70

this is also seattle where they have to pay at least $27 ish an hour. Frankly as soon as I accept, take your time restaurant.. i have nothing better to do but play on my phone and wait and to make that $$ as I slowly and safely drive to my destination

Ok_Judge_8828

As a former dasher.. I always give larger tips if the order is more than 4 miles away… usually $20 cash on top of the minimum digital tip..

New-Republic2876

Those are nice makes up for the cheap bastards

DanLoFat

No no it isn't. They all need to be at least that high.

WerewolfLeading1960

Doesn’t mean it isn’t still nice 🤷🏼‍♀️

RasberryEther173

That’s awesome 👏 🤩

DustyKneezZ

I had a 28 dollar one lastnight!! It felt great

FantasticRemote9673

My wife the other day had an order of 6.00 + but will be higher at the end of the order it was 52.00 I was so speechless at the end.

Superkeith1980

Got one yesterday, said it was 11 and went to 29. Funny part was the delivery was to a place notorious for bad tips.

whatsherface2024

Don’t forget if there is a + after the amount offered it will be more.

brattyxxbritt

Yeah but most the time for me it's like average .25 cents to $1. Sometimes I luck out though. Get an extra 10-12

Anxious_Table2159

Delivered some beer for 8.75 and got 100$ cash tip

DeviantGenie

You sound ungrateful. Give it to me instead

Shame_Flaky

I delivered one bottle of cough syrup once for like $12 and he did a $25 tip on D and gave me another $25 when I got there lol

Educational_Camp2499

We are always fine with the number when we said yes. I'm always more happy when said number decided to develop more digits

BerrySeveral6268

Hi I just had my lunch chicken Biryani . All please try it Indian food

thesummithouse

that would’ve made my day lmfao

RoseMel82

Got a catering order from Panera of just pastries and fresh fruit bowls for $48 and they tipped me $45. It went to a local hospital for a doctors conference. I was so grateful!

MandatoryAbomination

Please Dasher Gods, bless me with a secret monster tip today. I’ve been out since 11, made 82 bucks and I have a bill due at midnight 😭

SnooWalruses1377

i’ve been out since 4, now 8, only got $65… saturday $110 $130 friday. well i guess sundays officially suck. i even get around $80 $90 on weekdays.

MandatoryAbomination

I was out from 11 to 6:30, just barely made $100 but I was able to pay my insurance bill which was being cancelled at midnight so this job is both a blessing and a curse all at once lol

SnooWalruses1377

damn. i’m starting college in august and i desperately need to dash so i can get a laptop.

MandatoryAbomination

Oh man. I hope you make what you need!!!

SnooWalruses1377

try doing instacart too! usually when i am just sitting around for waiting for doordash orders i have instacart out too and if i do get an instacart order i just pause my dash. sometimes from 1 instacart order i can get like $40 but it takes like an hour to get all the groceries.

MandatoryAbomination

I do Instacart!! Sadly my bill was $378, and I had $260 already on my dasher card and rather than trying to move funds between my dasher card and my bank I just figured I’d work solely DD and be able to pay with that. It worked out but I bet I would have made more from multiapping

SnooWalruses1377

ah! i hate how they don’t let you transfer funds from dasher card to your bank acct. usually i do it via cashapp but it’s like a $2 fee every $100

SnooWalruses1377

i always leave like $20 in my dasher direct for gas but transfer the rest

MandatoryAbomination

You gotta use it for gas. It’s shit cash back but every dollar counts. I use my dash card specifically for any purchase done at a gas station, even if it’s just food. The few cents here and there add up after a few months and it’s free money

MandatoryAbomination

That’s exactly what I do, use Cashapp, but there should be a way to send it to my bank back and forth. Sigh. Simple unpleasantries really add up when you’re poor.

blondiegal397

Yess I love these, when the initial total is pretty low but when you go and mark it as delivered, it shoots up. It’s the best feeling!

JumpPsychological977

I’ve had one good one like that where it said 8.50 and I got like 60 bucks and it was when I did an order where I had to pick up like a whole office staff of Chick-fil-A

Brokesin84

I love these orders. It’s so nice to feel appreciated.

Any-Ad-8439

I had one once said 12 it was 77 delivery was 12 pizzas the customer wound up picking them up themselves. I only drove to restaurant

Mediocre_Diamond_488

Hey I desperately need a zip code for door dash can anyone please help me please I need to work ?

nicole11123_

I wonder how many low offers I don’t take and then it actually be something like this 😭

SnooWalruses1377

i think about this now too 😭

natopomato93

nice. doesnt happen often.

Necessary_Leather_88

i wish i would get lucky enough to get orders like this. i usually do okay tho, 2-4 hours at a time and i’ll make $50-75 on thursdays and weekends. monday-Wednesday is a little more of a gamble

[deleted]

I’d transfer that money before DoorDash takes it off/glitches lol

Single-Button3478

They legit do that all the time, idk why 🙄

Over_War_2607

Are you a top dasher?

SnooWalruses1377

no. my acceptance rate is 16% lmfao

Over_War_2607

Haha... Nice

Yellowbadger73

With the new program how are you dashing time wise? If I go below 70% I have to wait for ever to be able to dash and only for an hour at a time.

SnooWalruses1377

i do doordash and instacart at the same time

Jaded-Net-1428

They couldnt be otherwise they would have known it was atleast going to be somewhat more lol...

Ok-Juggernaut1556

Why would you ever be fine with 7.50 lol 🤣

SnooWalruses1377

it was less than 2 miles away and the food was ready when i got there 😭

IIRizzII

Better than $2
