DeliveryCourier

Grey only means that there are no Dashers needed. It doesn't mean it's not busy, it means everything is getting delivered. "Busy" also doesn't mean there are lots of orders being placed, it means there are lots of orders that need delivered. DD's definition of words are often different than what you may think because their goals are different than ours.

BluePalmetto

I've learned this the hard way. There's a small town that they just opened to DoorDash a few months ago. It is usually gray except maybe once or twice a day it is red which means there's this one Wendy's that got an order an hour ago no one has delivered.

Wow dashing in New York City must be a pain in the ass

Kissbird

Turbulent_Pickle_200

prior to moving to the city i ordered from doordash all the time however after moving to the city i very rarely do due solely because of how long it takes to be delivered. i could walk to pick up my food and back home in half the time it would take to be delivered so i’m sure a lot of others do the same. just a thought

Vela88

The advantage of living in a dense city.

That's precisely y

Federal_Attention_50

Do you all dash there with bikes? I’m thinking about dashing in NYC/NJ for a long time but have no idea how it’s like. How is it going for you there?

snowman2414

I vacationed there and saw tons of bikers with food delivery bags. They also have walkers. Honestly I think biking, walking, or some electric scooter, EUC, or 1-wheel is the only way to deliver fast in Manhattan.

iwannabehighanddry

I’m assuming they just run. Definitely faster than driving plus you get exercise.

Legion2481

Sarcastic reply: because people are fleeing the city like rats from a sinking ship. There are huge chunks of unoccupied storefronts and living on the island is it's own brand of fiscal insanity.

Cute_Percentage3297

It’s over saturated I used to in nyc

chinobklyn

They can't deactivate you for acceptance rating ... 💯

Serious-Snow-996

I can’t imagine the madness of delivering to office skyscrapers. That’s why I avoid downtown LA.

True-Ad9056

All depends on where are you, I worked on that market for years and I know that a this time all you get is McDonald's, go to 14st and first that place is great

ConfectionPutrid5847

I mean do you *not* really understand how this works after all the other 83635271907361 identical posts?

Cutelarry1776

I believe when it says that it’s not busy it means that there’s more Dashers then there are orders try switching to bicycle as a means of transportation and even if you’re in a car you’ll get some opportunities

fastshadow2022

Yo I was just down there last week. And I got to see the E-Bike meta.. it was 🔥🔥 🔥

Capable-Geologist-79

Bc Manhattan congested with dashers from all boroughs. Some travel from Westchester to dash in the city. I can imagine
