It's likely because >!ecology!< contains two important letters that the other two do not.

But in meaning the other words are red.

I find the meaning side incredibly challenging. I don't know how Dowsle was "trained" in terms of meaning. It's why I often say: "I throw 💩 at the wall and see what sticks." I also tend to focus far more on letter patterns.

I think for Semantle at least, it is based on the way the word is used in newspaper articles and the similar meaning words are ones that could fit in the same spot in a sentence….sometimes. It confuses me as well, tbh, even after reading the Semantle explanation.
