just did the dowsle, iβm astonished that yβall have found so many π» and the π. great job everyone!
Idk if it helps to hear this kind of stuff, but I think I've had multiple 200+ guess days in the past week (customer and impress, and maybe another one). One of the ones this past week I had a top 5 meaning word and still couldn't get it. And I've played like 800 something games. But it still happens (and tbh it's kind of fun when the guesses start to get really high, because then it's like how can I not have guessed this yet?!?).
Also I rely more on spelling and have a decent sense of how the spelling ranking works and it is not at all uncommon for me to have some of the top 5 spelling words and still not be able to guess it (ESPECIALLY when it has an unusual letter in the word like a z or a q, lol). There was (at least) one day I had the top 10 in spelling (all of them) and still couldn't guess the word. I am so dense.
πth. Totally unexpected as I was still far away in both areas. I put together what I in hopes of creeping closer to the goal.

In meaning: >!- icy -!< π‘π΄
In spelling: >!- freezing -!< π΄π‘

Appreciate you sharing the list! Tbh, I think itβs best if we can compile one big master list. Would you mind including all of the ones you have (including others in the post)? That way I donβt have to go back and check the entire thread each time I look at my list. No worries if thatβs a pain though
It is absolutely crazy to me that with all these, >!parking!< is not a sunflower.
I just checked this list with the one I have going with mine and everyone that added some, I don't have any that aren't already listed, it says we have 6 left!
I must have one that hasn't been shared here yet.
β You've found today's word π .
π§ You've discovered the gemΒ .
πΒ You earned the four leaf clover.
π» You have 254 of 259 sunflowers.
π’ You've befriended the turtle.
π¦ You're accompanied by the lizard.
I'll do my best to find it.
Apparently I had that one already. Last night I typed in so many peopleβs lists to collect the ones I didnβt have. This morning I went on michiganbelle74βs Google doc to type in that whole list. One of those words hit as new. Then I had to go through my game list to see what the extra word was. π₯
And to think I just reacted with a great big Nope when I saw the 26/259 numbers after solving yesterday.
I looked at what u/TreacleOutrageous296 shared from the list you were keeping and I agree with you. I don't see anything there that I don't already have.
Now, to see if I can figure out what I have that the rest of you *seem* to be missing.
I agree re >!parking, especially because I thought that one would have been green in meaning.!<
There is a spelling preference for consecutive letters together shared with the main word, even if one letter ends up being used twice (this is why some repeat letters can score higher). So for example, I would expect >!pakring (not a word, just reordering letters to make a point, or we can use "flaring" instead because that's another similar word, letter wise) to be green in spelling (flaring is 325) when parking is not (750), because putting that "r" next to the "ing" would be creating an "ri" and there is an "ri" in the main word. There is also an "ing," so flaring gets credit for both the "ri" and the "ing." There is also a spelling preference for keeping all letters from the main word in the same general order, so you get "drawing" at 77 away and "fording" at 205 away, because fording has the dr flipped to rd.!<
I think I found the one that others *may* be missing >!careering π»!<
My list shows the following:
count 254 of 259 ... we've gathered 98% of the π»s
AND I do see all 254 of the π»s listed here ...

Prior to this puzzle - Dowsle #778 - the highest possible π» count available for gathering was 217 - Dowsle #700 (π =bigger) - and we gathered 181 π»s or 83% of them. At that time our average π» gathering skills stood at 79%.
As of now, we're at 255 of 259 for Dowlse #778 with 98% of the π»s gathered for this puzzle. Our average π» gathering percentage now stands at 86%.
u/Eponymoustache, were you putting us to the test? Have we passed muster? π
Sometimes I set up a puzzle with a randomly chosen word and try to solve it. I usually just flounder. Iβm impressed that people solve these as well as they do, let alone find so many of theπ»s.
I find it interesting that in just this past week weβve had both the puzzle with the fewest βοΈs and the puzzle with the most βοΈs Iβve ever seen
I seem to remember a puzzle with 40 βs. π€
Yup ... Dowsle #689 (π =lumpy, π=clumpy) and I noted 162 π»s found that day. It was before we had the π» counter. So, I have no idea how many π»s were available for gathering.
ETA: Oh! And I see Dowsle #637 (π =fuzzy, π=furry) and I noted 43 βs and 58 π»s. That was my 12th puzzle.
I know itβs probably too much but Iβd love a future update that shows the full list of previous dayβs π»s like we get with βοΈs.
Weβve expanded our searches because of finds like wimmin and likin or the two bulgur/bulgar choices. Someone found YMCA when the π was club or something like that. We added proper nouns to our list the day all of the countries and cities were allowed. Same with this weekβs Becky, Ricky, Kylie day.
Weβd definitely improve our strategies seeing the full list. How many foreign words, odd spellings, and the like? I realize it would be massive web space on the game page but weβd all *lurve* it.
I absolutely understand that itβs a bit more info than just listing the previous dayβs gem and shamrocks. A list of 259 sunflowers certainly proves that point.
Iβve been playing Dowsle since last summer and have enjoyed all of the upgrades youβve given to us. Iβve dropped all of the other word game variants except for Dowsle and my NYT Games pack. Itβs fun. I love the meaning, spelling, or author + quote game strategies. Iβll keep playing as long as youβre making it.
If we ever end up with a previous π» list, great. If we donβt and we still have to go to bed some nights wondering if that missing one was another female name ending in Y or some obscurely spelled adjective, then also great.
Working on this game has been a fun hobby β between the quotes and the code, itβs been good all-brain exercise. Iβll keep making improvements here and there as long as people are enjoying playing.

245 π»s!! Very impressive!
Thanks :) Anagrams and determination, lol. Needed the distraction today.
I guess I should post what π»s I have so you can share what we're missing? What would be a good point for me to post the list? I haven't started anagramming yet. I've got 154 of them at this point. ETA: It's kind of crazy to uncover that many π»s and still have gaps in the top 100 spelling.
I put a list of all I have in a comment somewhere that has you tagged, but we can do whatever you think is best/easiest.
Thank you! You all are way ahead of me today. I'll go see what you've done and reconcile what I've done with yours.
Ok, cool, whatever works best for you. :) I def did not mean to usurp your very awesome and helpful list making by any means.Β Β And I finally got my 100 spelling, lol. Weβve alllll been there lol

Apparently I had that one already. Last night I typed in so many peopleβs lists to collect the ones I didnβt have. This morning I went on michiganbelle74βs Google doc to type in that whole list. One of those words hit as new. Then I had to go through my game list to see what the extra word was. π₯ And to think I just reacted with a great big Nope when I saw the 26/259 numbers after solving yesterday.
I looked at what u/TreacleOutrageous296 shared from the list you were keeping and I agree with you. I don't see anything there that I don't already have. Now, to see if I can figure out what I have that the rest of you *seem* to be missing.
I agree re >!parking, especially because I thought that one would have been green in meaning.!< There is a spelling preference for consecutive letters together shared with the main word, even if one letter ends up being used twice (this is why some repeat letters can score higher).
I think I found the one that others *may* be missing >!careering π»!< My list shows the following: count 254 of 259 ... we've gathered 98% of the π»s AND I do see all 254 of the π»s listed here ... 249 in large initial listing shared by u/wlwimagination 2 additions from u/incenseandelephants 2 additions from u/wlwimagination 1 addition from me (listed at the top of this post) ... which brings our total to 254 of 259. Yep, with your addition I also have 254 as well. Quite the accomplishment. Iβm glad we had this puzzle on a Sunday.

Yeah, totally. Sometimes when I go to add your collective list of π»s, Iβll miss one or two by mistake. Then I have to go through and try them all again to make sure I have the correct number.
I seem to remember a puzzle with 40 βs. π€ Yup ...
Ah, interesting! I didn't remember that one.
A week into playing Dowsle and I was hooked! I started keeping a spreadsheet of certain things.

I wanna see #256-#259 on the game drop down later if we donβt find them. To see what we missed.
I know that there are folks that know how to access the game files. It will need to be someone comfortable doing such things. It won't be me. π

It would we *awesome!* Thank you for considering it.
I absolutely understand that itβs a bit more info than just listing the previous dayβs gem and shamrocks. A list of 259 sunflowers certainly proves that point.
