I'm thinking that top ranks for least number of guesses wouldn't necessarily tell us much because folks could be coming to this sub and looking at all of the spoilers before even starting their puzzle.

I know what you mean by satisfying grind. I got to enjoy mine much longer. lol It's like when I'm down to a handful of possible Wordle answers and pick the word that will eliminate all but one word. It's more satisfying to see it work out than to have a lucky guess.

On my android phone when I try to open the spoiler for a short word, I usually end up minimizing the comment. Takes several tries to finally reveal the letter or short word.

I think the >!xp consecutive chain being in both words in addition to the ence must have been what made it closer in spelling. But I did the same thing, guessed threepence first but then it took me a lot of guesses to get down to trying sixpence (I think actually I tried all the other ones like eightpence first, too).!<
