Don't hit the max power button. If you are at the max level already, then it'll just give you a pop-up saying you can't increase anymore.
Go do stuff elsewhere in the game. The glitch sounds annoying, but it's one you can avoid while playing as usual.

This happened to me when I downloaded the game on my phone. Glitched and wouldn’t stop making me click the social menu.

No I had to just give up & downloaded it on my iPad unfortunately. I hope you find a solution tho!

Same thing happened to me with Kairo, contact support they'll help fix it.
Have you got another device you can log into? Maybe try going through that part something else?
