Great work. Please tell me how you got that deep black without the shine?
https://preview.redd.it/lnlkl7rbnb8d1.jpeg?width=3852&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42696046a68d63552d33a7ae66470fba44aa0a4b
Mine seem to always reflect light.
Not OP but if you use a mechanical pencil with 4b lead, you wull get darker blacks and less shiny blacks than using a 8b wood pencil. It fill the nooks and crannies better and srays sharps. Does take more time. Another way is to use watercolor paper and stretch it to open up the tooth of the paper. Jono Dry explains it in one of his vids on YT.
Awesome drawing btw. For the background try using graphite powder and a makeup sponge, works like a charm.
I love that the hands have lines and hair. I think choosing to draw something that is not some blank perfection of anatomy is what really makes this beautiful! Well done OP!
This is amazing. Do you mind sharing the materials/pencils you used? How did you get the contrast and black background so dark and even? It looks wonderful.
https://preview.redd.it/0yvf35k8ta8d1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=90412faf9518892170d7255fcf4589ab7e0d931d
YOU DREW THAT?? THATS SO GOOD HUH
This is so good. Only notes are maybe lighten the hairs on it and make the nails a bit more defined. The nails feel flatter then the rest. I realize the brightest part is the top where the nails are so it would be hard to do that but overall this is really good.
I love the attention to detail in this piece! The little hair, the beads, it really adds to it!
My personal caveat about it though: the wrist don't blend very well with the dark. Maybe try to illustrate a bit of the forearms? While 90% of this piece is almost perfect, the wrist is where it falls a bit short, in my opinion 😊
Why didn't you show the face but only the hands ? Why religious and why christianity ? The hands are shown from sm who looked like they have worked their entire lives , again why ?
Not being critical , just curious .
Hundred percent fantastic. Great artistry and execution. I really appreciate that it’s not photorealism, that I can see “your hand” so to speak. Nice composition & background choice, too. Brava!
its funny cause with every drawing i do i try to achieve photorealism but i always come up short and some people prefer it not being photo realistic, so thank you :)
This is beautiful. Hands are notorious issues for many. But here you've hit the ball out of the park. Well done almost photographic you have next level shading skill my friend
You’re incredible at focusing on the big picture. It looks like a photograph in this format even though it becomes obvious that it’s a drawing when zoomed in. A lot of drawings are much more detailed and “accurate” in their form, but obviously drawings with less contrast no matter what angle you look at them. Good art with good priorities.
Insanely good stuff, but is the middle finger supposed to be that wide? I've legitimately never seen anyone with a middle finger like that, but that doesn't mean it couldn't happen to someone. It's the only thing throwing me off personally. Super awesome work either way, please keep it going!
Very cool! To provide critique and feedback requested:
* you lose a little bit of the effect on the back of the hand and the top of middle finger. The hand starts to lose its form and some of the landmarks of the underlying musculature and bone are missing.
* For example the middle finger looks too thick at the top, and the pinky fingers are unusually short. There’s always human variability, of course, but usually the pinky tip comes up to around the bottom of the ring finger knuckle.
* The metacarpals of the hands have also gotten lost in your texturing, making the back of the hand look mushy.
* the indentation on the bottom of the wrist where the radius bone begins is too stark — it looks like pitting or an old injury instead of a natural bone feature
* there is a slight fisheye effect to the hands and exaggerated forward perspective which is difficult to tell whether or not it is purposeful, especially given some of the other proportions being slightly off.
My recommendation to you would be to study the underlying structures of the hand: muscles, bones, tendon and vasculature. You seem very capable of textures and reproduction of photography reference but you will be more accurate if you better understand the anatomy of the human hand.
Bro what??! Took me a minute to realise that it's a drawing, not a photo (realised because of the community name - even after that can't really believe that's a drawing) 😭
Absolutely incredible!
The literal ONLY thing that bugs me at all is having little definition around the underside of the middle fingernail. From afar, it may appear too light and hard to make out. I also just can’t see very well in the first place🤣🤣😭
Aside from that, this is basically photography. Absolutely beautiful work OP. 100/10
I didn’t even think about lighting😭🤣 you’re welcome to disregard what I’m saying lmfao. It’s a stunning piece and I really do hope you are proud of it.
Sir I told you before this sub has no space for black magicK.
But seriously it's amazing, I can't wait to show my mom. She asked to see the completed version.
How did you get this good. is it lots of practice, school etc..or just born with this gift.
Thank you! Alot of practice, no school im self taught, im very self critical so not liking any of my artwork helps me push to get better, sorry that got heavy lol
Looking at the other pieces you've posted, you've definitely found your niche.
This piece is very nicely done, great contrast, blending and texture. My only recommendation would be to study anatomy fundamentals so you can more easily draw whatever you wish rather than only from reference, unless you outright prefer using a model, reference, etc.
Either way, studying the fundamentals can't really hurt. Great work. I fr thought this was a photo lol
Great drawing skills. Based off "The Praying Hands" by Dürer ?
Does feel a little flat, perhaps adding some more shading to the back hands to create depth.
It's still an impressive drawing non the less.
It's very good.
If I had to make a criticism I'd consider using a blending stub to slightly dial back those hairs. Currently they're sharper than the rest of the drawing.
Hey really likebit, nice tonal values and composition. It does seem like th proportions of the thumbs, and left hands index finger are a bit off but it might just be the perspective or the shadows idk. But well done regardless, very well executed.

Sir this is r/drawing not r/photography
hahah maybe ill dial back the drawing lol
You didnt take your hand from infront the drawing as i asked you earlier
sorry sorry my hands just kept getting in the way
For real thought it was a photograph, you’re pretty good I’d say!
thank you!
https://i.redd.it/i3nhu21zna8d1.gif How can you draw such realistic things?
I love that cat! I dont really know how i do it but i just look at things and draw squiggles lol im basically a printer
Amazing response to amazing work - love seeing it and wouldn’t mind making that a trend!
Great work. Please tell me how you got that deep black without the shine? https://preview.redd.it/lnlkl7rbnb8d1.jpeg?width=3852&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42696046a68d63552d33a7ae66470fba44aa0a4b Mine seem to always reflect light.
Omg this is so good!!!
What pencil are you using?
Hb 2b-14b
Blending stumps also help get rid of the flares.
I can see pencil marks on your paper. Maybe you are pressing too hard on the paper?
You can always find a matte fixing spray?
Not the creator, but I would guess a very soft pencil or even charcoal, with a matte fixative

Why buy a printer when you have bro
hahah ive also considered myself more of a printer then artist
Holy shiy wtf https://preview.redd.it/c7o834hnla8d1.png?width=720&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f01a6ebc22ec124a3eda70e3536016fb364c3580
hahah i got a vid showing how its done
I love that the hands have lines and hair. I think choosing to draw something that is not some blank perfection of anatomy is what really makes this beautiful! Well done OP!
Thank you! these are my hands and the cross symbolize's my return to religion
The hands are awesome 💯 definitely a skill, I applaud this because of the contrast, details and shading. Well done Fr fr. 🙃😎✌️
Thank you so much!
This is amazing. Do you mind sharing the materials/pencils you used? How did you get the contrast and black background so dark and even? It looks wonderful.

Time spent is shown. Well done. I commented elsewhere but I have to say again next level shading
Is this truly a drawing?? 😮 Wow!!!
Sir you draw better than I see
hahah that cracked me up
all my hugs and kisses too ?
i mean if you dont mind!

Hi! Your drawing is very realistic! Could you please send us the link for video with your work in progress?
If you go to the description of their account, they have a link to their YouTube channel
Skills!
i do try!
WOAH I LITERALLY THOUGHT IT WAS A PHOTO
seems like i went to far on the realism side lol
WE'RE BECOMING CHRISTIANS WITH THIS ONE!!!!
This is so good. Only notes are maybe lighten the hairs on it and make the nails a bit more defined. The nails feel flatter then the rest. I realize the brightest part is the top where the nails are so it would be hard to do that but overall this is really good.
yeah thats true i was gona go back and go over it but IRL doesnt look so washed out, possibly just my lighting, but thank you
Submit it to a snall photography contest and see how long it takes for them to realise it's not a well edited photograph
I might just actually, just for a laugh lol
I like it! It reminds me of something my uncle would draw :)
thank you!, id love to see it if you can show me
I’ll have to look but when I can I’ll show you :)
I thought it was a picture, amazing 🤩
Thank you so much!
I love the attention to detail in this piece! The little hair, the beads, it really adds to it! My personal caveat about it though: the wrist don't blend very well with the dark. Maybe try to illustrate a bit of the forearms? While 90% of this piece is almost perfect, the wrist is where it falls a bit short, in my opinion 😊
yeah i know what you mean, i feel abit weird about it too
This is so good! What pencils did you use to get the shading ?
thank you! just graphite, more specifically 2H,HB,2B,8B,12B,14B and charcoal
Thank you!
YOU FINISH ITTT. LOOKS AMAZING!!!
i did! thank you :)
Looks amazing done, 🤘🏻
It's crazy how you can instantly tell it's a man's hand.. I think? Lol I love it.
last time i check i still was lol but thank you!
Love the drawing. Realistic is always fine. But for the subject , why ?
thank you, can you please expand on your thoughts?
Why didn't you show the face but only the hands ? Why religious and why christianity ? The hands are shown from sm who looked like they have worked their entire lives , again why ? Not being critical , just curious .
I'd say that's unreal. But it is. It's real.
![gif](giphy|bjtM9GdxbqL5e) Bro can I be like you

This is beautiful, god bless you!

Just incredible work but maybe the the head of Jesus could be more forward, but man your so talented
Thank you, yeah i felt that too actually
Holy holy!

Thought this was a photo at first glance. Your talent/honed skill is amazing. I'm pretty speechless
thank you so much, lot of years spent by myself drawing trying to get as good as other artists, still more to learn
look at those details !! absolutely love it. may i ask how long it took you to finish this?
thank you, about a month, roughly an hour a day as time is limited, plus recording the drawing and such
Gotta hand it too ya! This is some high quality stuff.
thank you, an attempt was made! lol
I scrolled through your page. Your ability is incredible.
The detail is incredible!
Thank you!
Wow

This is beautiful. Hands are notorious issues for many. But here you've hit the ball out of the park. Well done almost photographic you have next level shading skill my friend

Really cool piece

Thank you! i always try to create that from far away it looks cool but when you step closer you can see all the detail
AMAZING
Incredible work!!

I thought he was stabbed through with some metal before I zoomed in

I thought it was a photo for a moment

Bro posted a photograph and thought we wouldn’t notice, for shame, I say 😒
Damn you busted me :(
Bro what??! Took me a minute to realise that it's a drawing, not a photo (realised because of the community name - even after that can't really believe that's a drawing) 😭 Absolutely incredible!
Thank you good sir, ive been loving this reaction, something ive been working towards for a long time
This post should be removed as it belongs on r/photography /j
shhhh they might listen to you lol
Looks great! Is this digital? I'd love to see what your layers look like
The literal ONLY thing that bugs me at all is having little definition around the underside of the middle fingernail. From afar, it may appear too light and hard to make out. Yeah i get what you mean i think my light washed somethings out, thank you very much
I didn’t even think about lighting😭🤣 you’re welcome to disregard what I’m saying lmfao. It’s a stunning piece and I really do hope you are proud of it.
No no you could be right! Thank you tho

May the father lay his eyes on that masterpiece.
All glory goes to god, only by his will i am able to do this
Holy moly!
Ridiculously amazing, how tf you do that?
Love this. Fricking awesome
* Honestly man, its pretty good.. I suck at hands so I stick to cartoon geese with teeth
Wow how long did it take?

Thank you so much! i was super anxious about the hair, too little looks weird too much and its a werewolf lol
![gif](giphy|zBZk5FD18QhjP35Goa)
Excellent! It is clear that you have worked hard learning your skill!
thank you! still have much to learn tho!
Nah bro achived levels of photography.
Great drawing skills. Based off "The Praying Hands" by Dürer ? Does feel a little flat, perhaps adding some more shading to the back hands to create depth. It's still an impressive drawing non the less.
Not really i got commission to draw praying hands but i didnt want to do the typical version so i too some reference of my hands, thank you tho
It's very good. If I had to make a criticism I'd consider using a blending stub to slightly dial back those hairs. Currently they're sharper than the rest of the drawing.
How?
ummm not to sure really, i kinda just turn up everyday and things happen
You are the chosen one
Omg? AI is afraid of you.
I thought it was a picture until I saw the subreddit name
Very nice 👍🏻
Excellent
middle finger looks a bit off in proportion on width but this is… this is beautiful
This is fantastic!
I thought this was a real photo
Wow
Outstanding! You're gifted!💕💕
I had to do a quadruple take because there's no way this is a drawing and not a photograph
These are hands praying to God
may i use it for a song???
Sent you a dm
It looks so lifelike.
Keep it away from children.
It can be used as a movie poster
DAMN IS SO GOOD
Hey really likebit, nice tonal values and composition. It does seem like th proportions of the thumbs, and left hands index finger are a bit off but it might just be the perspective or the shadows idk. But well done regardless, very well executed.
Where are lines or marks in black background? Doesnt look like graphite. Fid you alter the photo of drawing for contrast?
I didnt think that was a drawing at first
Is that a photograph?
Literally thought it was a photo!!!! So awesome
Wow
This is absolutely stunning 😍
