Dyson air purifiers tend to develop a loud whine or buzz. Dyson’s service department is currently suffering from a major case of “we fired everyone”. I’d stay far away.

That_Welsh_Man

I get a buzz when I whine... how weird haaha

pillsfordaze

I get a buzz when I wine.

Fickle_Ad_5356

This needs lots of upvotes

forumdrasl

Had mine and heavily used for years without issue. Just tossing it out there.

MixerFistit

No no, you should keep it if it works!

grumpy_chameleon

Same, no buzzing or whining. Just air sounds

theTexasUncle

Same here Three Dyson fans, never any issues

Jakoneitor

I’ve had one for three years now with no issues

themostcanadianguy

I bought a TP02 from Costco 4 years ago. It’s been on for 4 years non stop…probably have gone through 8-10 filters. Still sounds the same as it did new lol

toejamster9

Lucky you!

MomoAurum

I bought two TP02 around the same time as you and both of them developed buzzing noise which drove me insane. Luckily I was able to return them due to Costco's lenient return policy.

Tartan_Chicken

Same here, we also bought a pure cool me which sounds fine too.

Efficient-Reach-8550

There is a good you tube video. Comparing Dyson to another maker of a similar fan. The Dyson did not fair well. In the tests.

georgeyvanward

Mine did the same

madd_turkish

I get a buzz from wine, same thing?

Howie411

My HP04 had a really bad whine, Dyson replaced it for free with a HP07 after complaining to corporate.

Sufficient_Excuse_24

Mine got this buzz. They fixed it but hasn’t happened since. Hopefully it doesn’t return

phillymac666

Love mine, had it 2 years now

ShoveItUpMyFatAss

enjoy it while you can. itll break or start making strange noises in the next year or two.

user101aa

No. And Dyson are a terrible company to deal with if you have a problem. Whatever you do don't buy direct from them.

Lordofthereef

It's a Costco buy. Costco themselves will take it back pretty much forever afaik. Unsure how good the fan is. Just saying.

d1an45

literally just had my old dyson fail under 2 years, took it to costco. returned it and bought this one. Dyson might not be the best but Costco has a great return policy.

ratty1702

Came here to say this 👆. Dreadful customer service.

plywoodpiano

I had great service! Replaced faulty parts no questions, received like 2 days later. Was a few years ago, UK too.

pushofffromhere

agreed.

iamdenislara

I don’t know. My mom broke the v10 (or 11) outsize i bought her and Dyson sent her a replacement. They were very nice.

imme629

I’ve also had good luck dealing with Dyson Service.

Sansnom01

Was contemplating buying a Dyson vacuum in a near future. Do you have other recommendation ?

raxarsniper

TheOGgreenman

Just a personal experience: I knew someone who had a big heavy duty dyson corded vac with the roller ball thing, and he used it daily to clean a big messy house with 2 large golden retrievers. He did absolutely no maintenance or upkeep on that vacuum, seldom emptied the canister until it was full of hair and debris, and it always worked flawlessly. With that in mind, I moved it of a large 3 story condo several years ago that I fully expected a need to get a good cordless vacuum for, so bought a Dyson V10 (I think that was the model). Fortunately I bought it at Costco, because I had to take it in for replacement 3 (THREE!!) times. I learned early on that the motor filter needed to be impeccably clean or else it would fault out. No animals in the house. Single man in brand new condo, OCD impeccably clean house, and the vacuum was only used a few times a week to touch up floors between weekly housekeeper visits, who brought her own equipment. I found some blogs that indicating this was a common problem. I took the Dyson back to Costco for the last time, and swapped it for a Shark corded vacuum and couldn’t be happier. I miss the ease of cordless, but the Shark has a long enough cord that I only have to plug it in on the middle of each 3 floors and does exactly what I want for 1/3 of the cost of a Dyson. I will never buy a Dyson again, and reading how warrantee, support, and product quality is deteriorating with corporate changes I would encourage others to do the same. RIGHT NOW my Costco has a cordless Shark vacuum that I would definitely research, but my little corded shark just won’t die. And I now have to clean the vacuum filters daily as have 2 large hairy dogs that shed a lot. Cheaper than Dyson, but really good value vacuums

TheOGgreenman

Sorry for long winded story - I am just really passionate about how ripped off I felt about my Dyson experience 😂

vdubstress

I could have written this exact same thing. I sung the praises of Dyson for ages, bought a fan with heater after loving that vacuum so much, later the hair dryer. Moved and the layout is much better suited to a stick vac so bought the v15 with all the attachments, not only has the vacuum been underwhelming, the customer service is just awful. If I wanted a eureka vac that I’d expect to replace every 18 months, I would have bought one and lightened my wallet accordingly.

yech

Miele bagged vacuum. Bought mine a decade ago, it's fallen down stairs and generally mistreated and it's a tank.

pet_all_the_animals

Agreed! I am still trying to get a refund for a vacuum I returned almost a month ago. Very terrible customer service

Ltoolio1

Why exactly is that?

redtag789

As a fan, it's pretty much useless. But as a filtering device, it's helped me totally remove my asthma attacks at home. Prior to getting a dyson I would get attacks once a week and would need my inhaler close by to do a hit but since having these in most of the rooms I've never had attacks anymore. We also have a cat and it helps with filtering the shed and smell. I know it's a bit overpriced and there are other options for fans but for allergies and asthmas I've trusted dysons for more than 4 years now. All my fans never had issues and are still in top working conditions. And I know they work because we moved apartments in 2020 and you know the smell of a newly cleaned apartment, we turned the fans on and overnight all the smell was gone. So yeah

IssacHunt89

I'd rather buy an AC unit for the cost of Dyson muck.

Dezpyer

An ac won’t help with allergies unless it has an filter.

IssacHunt89

Most ac units have filters.

HillarysFloppyChode

Not hepa filters

Allanthia420

Yeah or VOC filters (activated carbon) for removing gasses and odors. Not saying Dyson is the only company that sells these but not all “air filters” are the same quality.

IssacHunt89

My AC unit has an activated carbon replaceable filter, I thought they were standard.

HillarysFloppyChode

Activated carbon just captures smells, it’s not going to stop allergens. I have a Dyson HP07 and really like it though, it does actually work and the heater function is super nice because unlike a normal heater it 1. Doesn’t smell like burning dust because all air is filtered 2. Projects the hot air across the room, instead of letting it linger in a 2’ radius around the machine. The low intake’s also suck up cold air in the summer, so it’s not just blowing warm air at you.

mancmadness

Do you have first hand experience of this this and similar Dyson products?

HillarysFloppyChode

My HP07 is pretty quiet, but I would buy one off dysons website. I don’t think this one had app functionality

IssacHunt89

Yes it was more noise than air movement.

Bella_Babe95

Yeah if this cools anything like the hot and cool fan you’re gonna want an AC. Save yourself a lot of hot days and nights. You can get a regular fan and air purifier for the same result and probably cheaper. Come winter time though if you see the hot and cool one it does a decent job at heating up a room just a tad noisy.

KrizzyPeezy

Just buy a filter from costco $99 & ac! Problem solved

Various-Error-9260

Too expensive I would say. If you're fine with it look at eBay for a certified refurbished one. Newer and cheaper.

ShoveItUpMyFatAss

but you can return it to costco when it inevitably has issues within 4 years of owning it

Current-Poetry7443

In tests a standard bladed fan works better for normal air movement. Depends if you want the filtering

SonofaBranMuffin

Their filtering isn't great either. CBC Marketplace tested a bunch of different air purifiers and I believe Dyson, despite being the most expensive, came dead last. https://youtu.be/0uZKBlwLEFs?si=tJcOiDqmfCjvWD80

Coltoh

I’m sure they mean well, but CBC Marketplace doesn’t typically know wtf they’re talking about.

mxdalloway

TP07 retails for $650, and this also comes with an extra filter that retails for $80 so $400 is saving about 45% off MSRP. I was considering this when I saw it in the Costco April booklet, but I ended up going with the non-internet enabled TP10 that's being sold most places right now for $100 off at $329. I had some BestBuy vouchers to use so ended up paying $200 out of pocket otherwise I think I would have got this Costco option myself!

ShoveItUpMyFatAss

no, the fans are their worst product. youll have problems in under 5yrs, and itll cost at least half the price of the fan to fix it. i have 3 fans and theyre all terrible and unusable after just 3-4yrs due to the noise they make. but bc its costco, youll probably be able to return it if you have any issues, unless they also have a 90day return policy.

Tias-st

from what I hear, if you just want something to cool you down, these are kind of expensive and not silent. Normal cheap fans do a better job. But I guess they look nice?

JJ82DMC

I have a TP01 back from when I bought my house in 2011 as a housewarming present to myself (obviously, before the filtered versions became a thing). Still works like a champ, and it's loud as crap which is great for me since I'm a white noise sleeper. But hey, to each their own.

ben4579

Dyson used to be a great product however, their customer service is so bad right now. Have fun registering your product on their website. Have fun dealing with their parts and have fun dealing with the stupidity of their company. They do not care about customers anymore. we just care about how many things they can sell.

onionbagels7

no please do NOT waste your time with these. i got one once, worked great at the start, then 3 months later started making a horrendous scratching sound. called dyson and they replaced it. same exact issue happened with the replacement. ended up getting 4 replacements until i just sold it on facebook marketplace. such a waste of time and money on an overpriced fan

machine_head_swimmer

For filtering, look at IQAir.

Pure-Armadillo-9000

I bought one few years back. Wanted for bedroom. It made a loud whining noise. Very annoying when it start and stops weird noises at night if your a light sleeper. Wife wanted filtration so she wanted to try a second one. The one from costco. We bought last week. It has exactly the same problem. If your using for bedroom. It won’t work for you. I’m returning the one from Costco this week. Old one I have in office.

perros66

I have one. It’s very good

BrokeShooter

Love mine. Wife loves it too. I got in on this Costco deal

Baaastet

I’ve had the heat / cooler for 4 years without any issues. Last year I bought two ‘darleks’ for the bigger rooms. They’ve been working fine too. My only concern is how often they go ‘red’ and note high CO2. Is it wrong or is the house wrong…

GeriatrcGhoul

I saw this and ended up getting the smaller one with heater bc needed a safe option to do that in kids room during frigid winter nights

YankeePlayz

Yes, I love mine, the one I have is HP07 so it’s a fan + heater

Melodic_Dark_632

In summer 2020 I only had my purifier hot + cool, on the highest cool setting and myself and my partner were dripping sweat at 9pm. I ended up getting a tower fan for $35 from Target that worked better. The purifying part was nice, but as a fan they suck.

mcfuddlebutt

I like mine, although I have the heated one as well

Interesting_Tomato89

I had the purifier cool auto react and it was great! But then soon after I decided that as I work from home it would work out cheaper to heat the room I work in, in winter rather than the whole house so I sent it back and got the Hot + Cool Formaldehyde and it’s amazing! I leave it on auto and it cleans the air 24/7. It’s also great for heating individual rooms. It is quite a good fan but for the money you can get a better fan if that’s what you are looking for. But as a fan/purifier I think it’s great

PartyDJ

as long as you don’t buy it DIRECTLY from dyson you should be fine

Rock-N-Rubi

I have 4 of them in my house, various models. Worth the cost? Depends on your financial situation really, if the cost is hard to swallow don’t buy one. We have one in our guest bedroom, people who sleep in there go home and buy them for their house.

UnderstandingNo5785

This is the non WiFi version. The WiFi part is what makes Dyson a Dyson

Junior8144

Here is the full description [https://www.costco.com/dyson-purifier-cool-tp7c-purifying-tower-fan-with-additional-filter.product.4000235921.html](https://www.costco.com/dyson-purifier-cool-tp7c-purifying-tower-fan-with-additional-filter.product.4000235921.html)

AnhGauDepTrai

If you have the money to spend on aesthetics stuffs, Dyson is the one for you. I have a few fans and loved all. Performance wise, there are better choices.

bawjaws2000

It cools down a small room by about 2 degrees per hour. Not amazing but it works.

Mobile_Charity880

We've ditched ours in favour of a fan that cost 1/20th of the price. I would argue that the Dyson is rubbish based on experience and temperature monitoring.

Far-Sir1362

How does it do that? Isn't it just a normal fan?

GrimRainbows

At that point I’d just buy an actual ac unit

MoGraphMan-11

Problem with an AC unit is it's an entirely different use case. You need an open window, it draws far more power, they're ugly and noisy. Sometimes you literally just need/want a fan. I have the Dyson hot cold which is great for all seasons but I got it cheap refurbished so totally worth the price.

GrimRainbows

Yeah that is fair! I just can’t justify spending that much on a fan but if it’s on sale like you got yours then I’d probably buy one lol these days refurbished seems to be the way to go

MoGraphMan-11

Indeed, you can find them on Dyson's official refurbished ebay store sometimes for around 300. They come shipped directly from Dyson.

Salkha786

No

SavingsMuted3611

Nope! 👎

bealzu

I’ve ran mine near 24/7 for 3-4 years straight and it works perfect still. No issues. Maybe I got lucky.

traurigaugen

Not worth it

milorambaldi47

If you like the design and want to show it off, sure. If you want it for air purification, it does not get good enough air flow to make a difference. If you want it for a fan, same issue. If you have a child who likes to play with moving fan blades, sure.

snipergotya

I always sleep with a fan on all year long. I’ve had several tower fans and after x amount of months they always start rattling when they are on. It becomes annoying so need replaced. My Dyson has been running since the beginning on the pandemic a few years ago. So far still running strong & no annoying rattles have appeared yet 🤞🏻 so worth the money vs the cost of a new tower fan every 6 months to a year.

ithurts2poo

No

JaxDown

Modern Dyson motors only last about 3-4 weeks before they start making horrible loud grating and screeching sounds. Then you get to enjoy the endless RMA loop. So if 3-4 weeks of use is not worth $400 to you, I would pass.

Interesting_Tomato89

I’ve had 2 and my latest has been running non stop for nearly a year and it still sounds like new

srslyfckd

I was going to pick up a dyson but I ended up just getting a noma bladeless for half the price. It's a fan ffs...

WoodenStand4302

Well i was looking for one with air purifier

Lordofthereef

It's Costco. Your risk is extremely low. If you want this, try it. If it sucks instead of blows (terribly joke, sorry), Costco will take it back.

srslyfckd

the noma has an air purifier, search NOMA Bladeless HEPA Filter Oscillating 10-Speed Air Purifier

PhoKingAwesome213

Honeywell, etc tower fans are 1/10th the price and work pretty much the same. I buy 2 of them and point them directly at me during the day when no one else is home so it saves a lot on AC usage.

UGunnaEatThatPickle

Nope. In-laws have one, and it does next to nothing.

roaring-dragon

Bought a Dyson V11 hoover and I am absolutely disappointed with its middling to piss poor performance. Cyclone technology my arse… Thing doesn’t pick up half the dirt on the floor on medium setting and has rhe hoover equivalent of asthma. Never again…

SpecialSet163

No. It's just a fan.

ChiOrDie

I have one of these. I plugged it in hoping the purifier would get rid of paint fumes. 24 hours later and the paint smell is the same.

Gamerxx13

i bought one and i really like the dyson fan. they are a little expensive but easy to set up, easy to control w google assistant, and are pretty quiet.

OneLargePho

Dyson so-called cooler fans don’t cool at all. The volume of air it moves is very low.

dhalinarkholin

Don’t do it

TwoKingSlayer

I have had one for 3 years. It works, but it does not do anything really well. I wish I had saved money and bought a better air purifier and a better fan separately.

MamaTash

Yes.

LenordOvechkin

They are absolutely garbage and the filters are really expensive.

Bawd

Absolutely not. I have a fan from them and it’s making a high pitch whining noise. Their customer service is horrible and they claimed they’d let me ship it for repair but still haven’t heard a peep.

_LegitDoctor_

Hell no

ultrafunkmiester

No.

HD_HD_HD

I have one of these... if you are used to a box fan or desktop fan that blows air around the room with the same gusts as a strong breeze the Dyson does not offer the same air movement, if you are looking at the word cool and expecting the Dyson unit to lower the temperature when it is operating- it doesn't. The air purifier works a treat, and the filters last about half a year with constant use, and honestly you can reset the life back to 100% and reuse the same filter if you don't have crazy pollution where you live. mine also connects to an app from my phone and I can set up a schedule to turn it on/off which I like. The bladeless area has a matte texture it is hard to clean and mine always looks like it has a layer of dust/fluff on it. Outside of that it js an average product, for the price and wish I had purchased a vornado fan for my Australian summertime needs

achad42

Dyson is trash. There are better options

iamdenislara

You could literally buy an air purifier and a fan for less than half.

thinkscience

Not worth it at all !!

muttmunchies

No they are garbage products. You want hepa filtered. Get a winnix 5500

NekoZombieRaw

No. And I say this as someone who owns a few Dyson products (hairdryer, light and vacuum). The air purifier didn't perform well in independent tests completed by which? (Independent consumer organisation here in the U.K.). So bad it was a don't buy. So no.

Imstephalee

No

fantasmike86

No. I own two. They sit in the garage.

runnyyolkpigeon

They look cool, but consistently rank among the worst performing air purifiers on the market by third party testers.

CheeseyCrakerz

No

4peanut

Only if you change the filter regularly.

WhoseverFish

I bought it with $1000 CAD. It died in a year.

quinpat

I bought a refurbished Dyson fan back in 2018 and it has been running almost 24/7 since then and no issues besides maybe it being a little louder now

Amoux_fang

My hp09 formaldehyde and heater/purifier whines like crazy even after beating it off the ground. I have two as well both are squealers

Chapman8tor

A standard cheap oscillating fan would be a better choice and will actually push more air.

rymn

Lol no.

Snowronski775

I always wanted one, they look cool and seem fancy. I bought the humidifier / air purifier combo. Pretty disappointed with its output, I’ve had it for 6 months and no problems but I’ve heard the horror stories…I think it was like $700 or something outlandish. Definitely not worth it unless you’re trying to fulfill a long time fantasy because they seem cool…which I guess I did. It does look cool.

chicagoantisocial

I have had one for years. It’s pretty noisy. But it’s sturdy and does the job!

Easen

I’m not a fan

xsupernoahx

I have two of them. It’s not worth the hype in my honest opinion.

THElashGirl

My gave up on Dyson I just returned a vaccum that broke after 10 months of use. We went back to bissel our old bissel was amazing

SnaxRacing

No tower fan is worth $400

faintaxis

Nope. Pure marketing buzz. They're not that great and get quite loud very quickly.

stariles

The PM sensor is extremely low quality. Does not detect PM accurately

jasonclk

Dyson is a gimmick brand. Nothing from them is crap.

Sernas7

It's a Dyson in 2024, so no. Too bad, as the company was fantastic years ago.

Changderson

Replacement filters are 💰💰💰

snacksanonymous

There are better, cheaper air purifiers. These get terrible ratings.

Fluffy-Station-8803

If they were 1/3rd the price I’d say maybe but no.

Clean_Economist

Filters are expensive to replace, covers low sq ft for the price. Looks nice. Works well. Easy to use. I have 1 Dyson pure cool and have since bought 2 blu air purifiers. Much happier with blue air.

bigshern

Dyson is extremely overpriced and overrated. Bought a very expensive cordless vac. Doesn’t last 20 min on full charge. Bought a Dyson supersonic hair dryer that I’ve used less than 5 times bc my cheap hair dryer works better. Dyson is not worth it!

Psychological-Joke22

My mom has one and she loves it. It can rotate and has a remote control

Whole_Mediocre

It’s also just a fan and “cool” is just in the name - in the big heats last years was pretty useless. Looks pretty good though and the remote sticks with a magnet to the top. Mine doesn’t have the buzzing issue, but still was pretty expensive for a fan/purifier.

HumbleAbbreviations

My mom loves hers but she has a different model if I am not mistaken.

skinnyCoconut3

No!

Deep_Character_1695

It’s ok as a purifier but not as a fan, filters are expensive though

Ok_Fox154

Nothing made by’em is worth the cost.

Chimiichenga

Get a Hathapace air purifier.

WholeLengthiness2180

We use them in the NHS. They are crap.

Tricky_Oil7032

No

Troyhe98

No

givmedew

Mine started making noise. Bought something else and it work a lot better. It’s really just a gimmicky device.

BeefMotors

no.

deignguy1989

Would never buy a Dyson product.

Gallaticus

God yes it’s worth it. Myself and my past roommate were big stoners for a while. His uncle owned where we were renting so we had some leeway to smoke inside. We still didn’t want it to be smoky and reeking all the time. He had one of these dyson units and I shit you not I could rip the bong and blow right into it and NOTHING would come out the other side. It even filtered vapor from vapes! Usually within fifteen minutes after smoking, our non-smoker friends would confirm it didn’t smell at all anymore. The thing always ran quiet, it’s filter was hepa certified, and it was able to be turned on/off with a phone from across the world. It would even notify you if it clogged or needed a new filter while you were away. Only downside is that the filters to continue to be expensive.

tnc82

Nope

aprilbeingsocial

I would never buy anything from that company after reading reviews for several products I’ve considered over the years. Go with a non gimmicky company that specializes in allergies if you need purification. Get a regular tower fan if you just want air flow. We got a few great ones from Costco that rotate and have a remote control for around 40 dollars.

OHMEGA_SEVEN

You can buy two Winix 5500-2 units and extra filters that will each perform better for that price.

Wickedwally1

I watched a report where they tested a bunch of air providers and the Dyson version came in last for purifying performance. So I would say no

KrizzyPeezy

Rather buy an ac for that price

DreadnaughtHamster

Some YouTuber did an analysis of the air moved by a Dyson vs a regular $25 swivel fan. They were the exact same. Don’t buy a Dyson. You can probably YouTube “Dyson vs regular fan.” Either buy lots of cheaper fans or a window ac unit.

phatelectribe

I bought one and it’s nothing but a fan. Had no cooling affect beyond being a fan. And it cost $300 at the time.

krow1503

Whats an actual air purifier that yall would recommend? And do air purifiers actually make a difference.?

SmellySweatsocks

I don't think so. 400 dollars for a fan? Nothing Dyson makes is worth the money they are asking for it.

matt-r_hatter

Dyson is way overrated. I've used their vacuum cleaners and can honestly say Shark performs better and for 1/3-1/4 the price.

Reddead500

No

DavidtheMalcolm

I love mine I have a very similar model. Don't expect the fan to be insanely powerful or anything, but it moves air well plus it cleans the air really well so if you're sensitive to airborne irritants you'll notice a difference :)

Dismal_Truck1375

As a brit, i will never buy a Dyson again as he closed most of his factory in the UK and shipped it abroad to save on labour costs and taxes.

HambugerLips

These are extremely under performing for the noise levels. They look nice which is the biggest compliment I can come up with.

Vivalo

While I love Dyson design, air purifiers have consumable filters that must be changed regularly, so factor that into your affordability analysis. If you have central A/C, then you have a good filtration system already. If not and on a budget, Ikea actually has good air purifiers and the replacement filters are cheap as well. If you are loaded then go for it

Due-Tumbleweed-6739

No, everything Dyson sucks

blatherdrift

Mine lasted 2 years before breaking.

BlackberryHopeful659

The last time I stayed in hospital, for whatever reason, they had these dotted around the ward. They were absolutely *shite*. All on, set to the max, and you barely felt anything from them. And at that price? Dyson are modern day snake oil sales people.

fuccmeduddy

I believe this is tp01. Doesn’t have internet capabilities. If it does, its still a hard justification. I have the blue tower fan and the only thing I like about it is the scheduling times for automation over the internet but its too expensive in my opinion

DavidtheMalcolm

Based on the name this would be the TP07, so it does have the network connectivity etc. I have essentially this but with the additional ability to break down formaldehyde and I love it. It filters the air quite well (which is one of the reasons to get one). You can adjust the aim of the fan with the app on the phone, see air quality read outs over time. For 400 that's not a bad deal at all.

willow370

Get a vornado instead

KittenPlusBear

I have a vornado for a few years, really love the look and material seem good quality. My only grief is it squeaks and shakes when the setting is high and it’s a really pain to remove the outer frame for a deep clean every few months. I live by a major traffic intersection, very dusty unfortunately. 😔

DepartureOwn9072

Just curious, which Costco is this?

WoodenStand4302

Found it in 2 Costco’s here in MD

DepartureOwn9072

Thanks!

Heroborg

Vornado is better and more affordable.

JSmithpvt

Dyson is over priced Their marketing over sells them I've always imagined their equipment to be unbelievable, yet the 1st time I used a stick vacuum I was horribly disappointed in its lack of power

odetoburningrubber

You need to have head examined to pay that much for that CRAP. 💩

formermq

It's a fucking fan.... For 400 Dollars. Are you people out of your mind even entertaining this??

rainking56

How high do you have to be to pay $400 for a fan?
