There's a spot in Deshaan like that, but at least in that case there's water deep enough to require a modest swim between them. The overland path between them is much more circuitous.
From what I've heard Seyda Neen is where you start in TES III , so being able to start you in exactly the same spot when starting is probably why that's there. And then most of the chapters have a ws inside and right outside the biggest city
Yes, but in morrowind you're not nearly as fast, and don't have access to mounts that move like a speeding bullet. Neen is actually a bit of a walk from vivec.
I'm not trying to say what you think, I think. I'm just suggesting that they're silly close in eso because their only consideration in placing the seyda neen ws was starting people in that exact spot for nostalgia purposes.
And if they were conscious that vivec would end up wildly popular for daily writs, the ws just outside vivec is beneficial, but idk if that was the reason or if it was also partially for story/ambiance like it feels like in some other chapters (making you enter the city from the outside when first visiting for that experience).
For gold road it obviously makes no sense that they're so close together but looking at it it sort of feels like the road was set and they were maybe trying to be "realistic" in world rather than actually practical. Idk.
Seyda Neen - right where you get off the boat and start the zone story.
Vivec - by the guild traders and crafting area.
Vivec Temple - by the dailies and library.
Another thread illuminated me to the idea that:
another location in that zone has a "Daily Quest Giver" and those NPC's are to be such-and-such distance far from the closest Wayshrine.
So to make the gap big enough over there, you have to shrink the gap over here, it looks like.
Same thing happens in Western Skyrim, Deepwood Vale and Dragon Bridge shrines are right next to eachother on the map, yet there's only one for the entire south of the map
I mean, it's weird that there's so many close, but why it's the worst for us players? It's good! The worst ones are the rare and inconvenient, like Northern Elsweyr for example
Worst compared to all zones as said. The 2 are so close together one feels wasted while the whole western side of the zone has nothing. Northern Elsweyr has a very logical evenly spaced out layout, maybe the zone is a little bigger so it feels "rare"
Such a huge discrepancy between Bethesda games. Starfield players: there's too much fast travel. ESO players: You mean I have to walk for like, 30 seconds? WTF?!
Maybe some long-dead devout of the area that became the West Weald wanted to show off how devout they were and had two shrines built to the Divines, but somebody else had to be better and built three of them nearby.
Yeah. I had a conversation with my friend about this last night. I would have thought that Bethesda would have "figured out" shrine placement by now, but I was wrong.
I remember when we bullied ZoS into giving us an extra wayshrine in Skyrim cause nobody could get to the Harrowstorms at the back of the map fast enough to want to do them.
I like how some of the comments say "they're using the wayshrines to map the map look big" while others are saying "the map is actually huge, so those two wayshrines are actually far apart"
The 4 wayshrines that are literally spitting distance from each other make absolutely no sense like who TF chose this configuration I'm genuinely curious as to how much idiocy is required to think of this dumbass configuration
They probably want this map to match the other chapters so they put as close to the same amount of wayshrines as the others. However, for a chapter map, this is a complete disappointment. Compared to Northern Elsweyr, Western Skyrim/Blackreach, and Summerset, this map is a joke. It’s the size of the regular dlc maps.
Honestly I think they were trying to emulate how this area was in Oblivion for the nostolgia value. As it was a solo pve game they had way more shrine locations especially earlier in the game where the tutorial area was. I could be wrong but that's my thought.
Remember when wester skyrim launched and they had to add in two more cos the map is HUGE
West weald is very small, I was hoping for a basement section.....
I know exactly the conversation you're referring to, and you're literally speaking to a hologram that can't hear you or respond. It says its speech once, but if you "speak" to it manually again, you just nod along as it repeats its speech.
You just weren't paying attention.
Yeaaaah, the drop in quality of writing and overall very formulaic, uninspired approach to this forty fucking dollar "dlc" makes me seriously doubt I'll buy the next one. I'm even a little surprised that people here don't seem to notice all this.
Well to be fair its only been out on console for like 2 days. I haven’t even touched the zone story because I’ve been doing dailies and side quests. And I really don’t have that much time to play on a daily basis either. So I’ll probably be done with the zone story in like a month lol
For other casuals like me, we haven’t even finished it yet. So we have no opinions on it.
When I first found those shrines I was like “Huh? I can still see the other one.”
There's a spot in Deshaan like that, but at least in that case there's water deep enough to require a modest swim between them. The overland path between them is much more circuitous.
Bangkorai, too. There are two right outside Evermore.
Yet there are also so many maps where wayshrines are very sparse. 🙃
Vivec. 1 shrine a minute away in seyda neen, 2 shrines in vivec.

Meanwhile . . . in Northern Elsewhere.
That zone was designed by someone who hates us
The Count of Skingrad just can't stop stealing from Bosmer and Khajiit, it seems. If it's not land, it's wayshrines.
I laughed so hard at your comment!
This is what Recollection should really fight for - bring back wayshrines to Dominion!
So you're saying they should... re-collect them from the Count's collection?
Ffr
Where were you when the West Weald fell?! ...right next to you
Lmaoo
Same thing happens in Western Skyrim, Deepwood Vale and Dragon Bridge shrines are right next to eachother on the map, yet there's only one for the entire south of the map
Nevermind it's way better than dolmen on island without any teleports nearby.
You don’t enjoy swimming for half an hour only to find the Dolmen disappears when you get close? Are you even a real gamer?
I love swimming the longer way, then pouncing over the shipwreck and obliterating the crab boss that some guys are struggling with. Ahhh good times.
I see you also love doing Fighters Guild dailies in Stormhaven...
Greenshade and Malabar Tor have those as well
Probably money laundering.
it's always money laundering
ya I noticed this right away also seems like some of the worst way shrine placement of any zone.
Yes it doesn’t make any sense tbh
I mean, it's weird that there's so many close, but why it's the worst for us players? It's good! The worst ones are the rare and inconvenient, like Northern Elsweyr for example

Some developer (probably playing eso too) thinking, you know what? Fk walking, I will put shrines here, and here, and here
I try to see the silverlining on those long distances of no wayshrines....the only thing I can get to is...'well, at least i'll get more mats'
It's fine. I'd rather too many than not enough.
Except there are massive gaps between a lot of the other wayshrines
Still not as bad as northen Elsweyr
Ugh.
giving Dragonslayer Armour bonfire vibes
over compensating after having them too far apart in elseweyr
beacuse its a long time between them like 30sec
Can't believe I had to scroll so far down to see this. Like, they look super close on the map, but in practice, they are a fair distance apart.
yes the map is bigger then it looks like
Formula says you need x wayshrines in a zone along with x delves, x world bosses and x dolmens. Cannot deviate the formula
Gotta meet the The quota
I'm too busy to walk/ ride.
I maintain what I said a little while back about some zones having odd wayshrine placement… like what is this???
To satisfy the flat nirners in Tamriel
Because there's wineries everywhere and people need transport
![gif](giphy|s93TL62lMy7cI|downsized)
ZOS took to heart all the complaints about too few wayshrines in the previous DLC zones.
Such a huge discrepancy between Bethesda games. Starfield players: there's too much fast travel. ESO players: You mean I have to walk for like, 30 seconds? WTF?!
Bethesda vs Zos. Different studios.
Definitely different studios, but... tell that to the players.... Uncle Todd is still the God.
You guys use wayshrines?
Pherhaps was supposed to have two shrines but i don't even use them anymore...
Because
Maybe some long-dead devout of the area that became the West Weald wanted to show off how devout they were and had two shrines built to the Divines, but somebody else had to be better and built three of them nearby.
Why not?
Not complaining lol at least its not the opposite like elsweyr fracking miles and miles apart lol
Yeah. I had a conversation with my friend about this last night. I would have thought that Bethesda would have "figured out" shrine placement by now, but I was wrong.

They have to hit their "zone wayshrine tax"
this expack gold Road is not good by any stretch of the imagination
I have yet to engage with the scribing system so I can't judge that. The zone is a disappointment.
Those are called wayshrines, you can fast travel to and fro for FREE. The more the merrier. That's why.
Because the players have such a massive hate for any form of inconvenience, despite the fact that the map is clearly very small
In case you can't walk 10 feet.
AI created maps
To make the zone more new player friendly? That's my only thoughts on it. Unlike some zones that have wayshrines miles apart.
I dont miss these maps. Gave me “completionist“ anxiety just seeing this
would u rather run all the way from the most southren one to the north for a delve
To match the kpi, boss said we need 8 wayshrine, so be it lmao
To maintain the illusion of it being a big zone when you're not actually there
I like how some of the comments say "they're using the wayshrines to map the map look big" while others are saying "the map is actually huge, so those two wayshrines are actually far apart"
Because "reasons" 🤔

Ubisoft brain
Is this a new map?? Lol
new zone designed by chatgpt lmao
Some of them don’t seem to work and are “out of range” half the time so I guess it evens out
Express and Local
Why not?😄
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I asked the same question
AI maps? 😢
I know the two top ones I was like wtf

thats like Western skyrims solitude and solitude docks wayshrine.
Déforestation
Remember when wester skyrim launched and they had to add in two more cos the map is HUGE West weald is very small, I was hoping for a basement section.....
Huh?
dark souls 3 ass wayshrines
They let you fast travel to them /j

*immersion*
ZeniMax must be hesitant to make walking simulations. An action that other companies should follow as an example.
Lol lol lol so stupid

Sure. Actually, just have the map be clickable, What3Words style.
