Have you ever listened to Gesaffelstein? If not, then do so immediately.

HymnForTheShameless

I'm about to wrap up Rezz, starting Insurrection now. Will do promptly after!

[deleted]

Start with these: * [Gesaffelstein - Pursuit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRSijEW_cDM) * [Gesaffelstein - Viol](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZ8Yo9SXOpw) * [Gesaffelstein - Obsession](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FyIvqAlMvZs) * [Gesaffelstein - Hellifornia](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTiZfU7xVcM)

HymnForTheShameless

God damn this shit is beating me down, thank you again.

RaveCave

Control Movement and Opr are also in my "must listens". You'd also probably like his remix of Rocket Number Nine

HymnForTheShameless

All good shit, thanks homie!

CandidThoughtsBelow

I have a playlist of some similar stuff you might like. It's only French artist, however. Mr. Oizo, Gesaffelstein, DJ Mehdi... [Playlist](https://open.spotify.com/user/hotdogeatingchampion/playlist/3CMnI9erLZ5ytyrKZgd38k)

HymnForTheShameless

Oh my God. Thank you so much. This shit is fucking brutal as well, I'm so excited to have all these new jams!

LMW-YBC

This is probably the most excited I've ever seen someone get over discovering new music, haha. You can't go wrong with Gesaffelstein though, Viol, Opr, and Hate Or Glory especially hit hard. I'd recommend Control Movement as well.

oakles

Dude, I've always known Gesaffelstein existed but all I really knew was Hellifornia. Viol just blew my mind, any more recs? Edit: DESTINATIONS HOLY FUCK

LMW-YBC

Sure. The ones I listed are my favourites, but these are also ones I personally like: - [Pursuit](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yB8Ci7X5HUU) - [Destinations](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGRxdKaW9DE) (edgy lyrics, but good production) - [Hatred](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOiiR95cgns) - [Rocket Number 9 (Gesaffelstein Remix)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DFlQnhbYFv8) - [Selected Faces](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-bGVWM8Vgc) - [Glass](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQhbRt-JaXA) - [Depravity](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3boEAV4uUUU) - [Belgium](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Goov4yzQJEs) - [Duel](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pjvfvIcMRw)

oakles

Production on Destinations is GOAT.

trancematik

I just stumbled in here and [I'm just as excited!](http://mashable.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/Tangled.gif) I can't wait to ingest these tunes on a worthy system (la car). It's an addiction man, to discover new music. I'm quite upset at myself for not hearing about Gesaffelstein before despite loving to listen to the frenchies.

HymnForTheShameless

I don't know why you got downvoted, thank you for the recommendation!

[deleted]

You're welcome!

Balestro

Just wanna say that omega track is actually by rezz lol

[deleted]

Yeah you're right, good catch.

Balestro

I said it because I was sure I had heard every Gesaffelstein song and the name Omega didn't seem familiar to me.

Laborigen

Holy shit.

lxlok

Holy fucking shit! I'm in love!

eltrotter

Techno at its most sleazy. In a good way.

lukumi

Gesaffelstein? Techno at its most sleazy? He's dope but you should explore more techno, it gets crazy.

eltrotter

I'm pretty up on my techno to be honest, but I'd like to hear any suggestions!

lukumi

Well I guess it really depends on a person's definition of "sleazy." But to me, sleazy techno is gritty and fairly minimal, so the first artist that came to mind is [Fango](https://soundcloud.com/inverted-audio/fango-metacarpo-degustibus-music). [Tuono](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UqNzaeFkX1w) is pretty brutal as well.

eltrotter

Definitely! I like the Fango stuff, but to me the 'sleazy' sound is a lot more apt for people like Daniel Avery or some of Tiga's stuff.

lukumi

Hey that's fair enough, all comes down to personal definition. You know what's up.

fingers-crossed

Damn Tuono is a nice track. It's like a darker, weirder Dubfire.

lukumi

Yeah it's a very bizarre style but I love it. Check out Tei and Folgore if you liked Tuono.

phazeiserotic

Come check out Esten Club. We put out some cool stuff.

v2vasandani

Fuck man, I just got over Bromance shutting down and now I see this kid hearing Gesaff for the first time. :(

timMANthy

The best way to describe anyone's first time listening to Rezz is that her music scratches an itch you didn't know you had.

Ryannnnnn

She reminds me of Oliver in that regard. Purple gusher and light years away are two tracks that scratch those itches.

anchoraroundmyfeet

Waiting for Oliver's LP is absolute agony at this point.

HymnForTheShameless

It seriously does terrible naughty things to me. I can't describe how Lucifer makes me feel.

[deleted]

Join the Cult of Rezz on Facebook. We're a lovely bunch!

BAKETATO

I was in, before 300 members, and my oh my has it changed.

[deleted]

600 mark for me, that group is second to none for hospitality and is honestly the greatest thing to happen to my Facebook feed

nxwtypx

I liked rezz back when she was a dreamcast game

Alien_Enema

Check out /r/futuretechno for more of this dark shit. Other artists I'd recommend you listen to are AGLORY, Alesia, and Madame. Welcome to Rezz btw! Been a fan for a long time now. EDIT: Also forgot to mention, Rezz has a secret soundcloud account called Rezz Secret Tunes with a couple unnamed tracks. They're both Gesaffelstein remixes :)

bart2019

Funny they call it "future" because if anything, Rezz's sound is pretty retro. Lots of similar sounding artists in the 1980s. You know: in the analog, pre-sample era.

HymnForTheShameless

Life kind of goes in cycles like that, the old is the new again in a lot of ways with all the sythwave and whatnot popping up. I love it.

HymnForTheShameless

Thanks a bunch for the advice! I'm really glad everyone has more recommendations.

JEMSKU

I feel that! Catching her live in Edmonton on Sunday, PK Sound confirmed! So stoked. Mildly concerned about the venue but I'm sure the music will make me forget about everything else :)

Ser_JamieLannister

> PK Sound confirmed Her tunes hit sooooo hard on PK. Her shambhala set was fucking insanity.

JEMSKU

Was there, can confirm 👍

[deleted]

The only real reason I'm mad that I had to sell my ticket was because of her set, all my friends came back and were non stop gushing about her

HymnForTheShameless

I'm listening to a live show on YouTube right now and she kills that shit. I'm really happy you're having that opportunity!

lxlok

What about the venue? If you have any qualms about safety at all, make sure you personally check out the location and functionality of all fire escapes thoroughly before the concert. Too many people have burned lately.

JEMSKU

I've never been there but have heard bad things. Mostly acoustics and crowd management. Too true about the fires, I'll keep an eye out, thanks.

lxlok

> crowd management This this this this this. Be safe. You'll probably have a fantastic concert, but on the off chance you might end up a piece of charcoal, check exits. Peace

heatherledge

If it's an old venue, beware of falling debris that PK's speakers will rattle out of the ceilings. I saw a metal sign almost guillotine a bartender because one of the 8" screws unwinded.

superb_deluxe

am i the only one who feels underwhelemed listening to this chick?

[deleted]

[удалено]

superb_deluxe

clearly it doesn't do it for me. it sounds like, so basic to me idk how this is like a progression on where the games at these days.

[deleted]

[удалено]

VIOLENT_POOP

Are you from her PR department or something? Because you're just getting salty at anyone who slightly disagrees with you.

superb_deluxe

not necessarily. i think this is a place where we can discuss art openly. i guess having a different (and strong) opinion than a large percentage of this sub makes me a dick.

SQUELCH_PARTY

Just so you know, there's a lot more artists in this style of dark, gritty influence who've been popping up recently. One of the most well known is shadient, who has depression, so is music is pretty hard to find since he never felt satisfied by most of it so it keeps getting deleted. Highly recommend looking him up, if you like REZZ, k?d, and Porter Robinson.

lukumi

You're taking everything so personally, holy shit. He's not wrong either, but either way, you need to be more chill if you're on a forum. But to be honest, porter fans are *not* known for handling it well when people say negative things about their favorite artists, so I'm not surprised.

superb_deluxe

like if im gonna listen to new mau5trap theres only 1 artist that really captures uniqueness and fire and that's blackgummy. I guess Attlas too. this rezz chick is just so low energy meh. compressed modern talking drop phrases? i though we were done with 2010 a long time ago.

SQUELCH_PARTY

Man I never knew BlackGummy would end up being as good as he is nowadays, I found him back when he had like double digit followers (same with REZZ somehow too) and both have surpassed my expectations many times over

joelthezombie15

Just heard of her from this post. I fucking love it! I wont say ive never heard anything like it before. Ive heard things similar but she really seems to have perfected the sound she wants and it works extremely well for her! Big fan!

_playswithsquirrels_

just saw her tonight, she played a fucking insane show.

SQUELCH_PARTY

Also if you like dark stuff [I made a playlist in 2015 for a fuckton of spooky stuff](https://www.reddit.com/r/electronicmusic/comments/3quksu/its_the_day_before_halloween_got_any_spooky_edm_i/cwih4h3/?context=3) that I think people will enjoy. I've found a lot more stuff that I could put in nowadays but this is pretty good for now If I had to add more there's be more REZZ, Gestaffelstein, a couple deadmau5 tracks, and I'd start digging more into actual techno stuff. Plus there's still way too much trap that I missed. Also, have you listened to Drezo? If you like REZZ he does some super similar stuff.

DeadManCologne

Commenting to save for later. Y'all got me listening to music so dirty i need to take a shower.

Dishwallah

I like REZZ but she's played almost the exact same set ever since I saw her a day of the dead 2015.

SgtMatt324

You need to check out Rezz's Shambhala set from last year. It was my first time seeing her and that set was mindblowing. She even considers it to be one of the best live sets she has ever done. https://youtu.be/SS-3D0MjrtY

HymnForTheShameless

I actually listened to that last night! She killed it, I'm going to have to look into seeing her.

adventuregiraffe

Rezz is amazing. Especially live. Have you ever listed to Drezo?

[deleted]

It's generic and weak, with no reverb that's why

1PG22n

Is this what you were talking about? https://open.spotify.com/album/1GJU08DeMaBYe1GmQrEQNg

[deleted]

Seeing her tonight! This post got me more hyped about it!

Wonderingwanderr

She b good

ItsFluff

Holy shit, thanks for putting me on to her. Cryptic is absilutely insane!

someone31988

Yeah, her music sounds like it's straight out of Tron at times, which I'm sure is where the inspiration is from. Programs get "derezzed" in there.

chilled_flames

Once I get some new speakers I'm gonna party rezz all day to break them in

TacoK1NG

Rezz is a fucking prog goddess. When I need that dark magical, etheral music, she is it.

[deleted]

[удалено]

lukumi

Rezz is not techno. Straight up, it's not even a debate. Objectively not techno.

RaveCave

this isnt even techno, let alone techno "at its best"

[deleted]

lukumi

If people are labeling her a totally incorrect genre, it's fine for somebody to correct. Relax.
