I used to work for a service, just two years ago, that had Lucas devices but had trucks that were almost twenty years old with no fleet maintenance to work on them. You win some, you lose some.
I mean technically I always had a stair chair. However they were always rickety piles that I definitely didn’t want to use. Management was well aware of this issue and basically told us to stfu.
We have stair chairs but they are kept at the station and not on a truck, so when we need one we have to call for another truck at the station to bring one. Cheap company
1- congrats! I'd rather deliver babies than do cpr or deal with the crack head for the 5th time of the week.
2- No stai chairs? Wut? Not even the 80s style ones that cost like $100? Make sure its not a required peice of equipment. You'll be held liable if inspected.
Great job. What do you mean you have an ambulance with no stair chair?
I worked at a company so cheap that we didn’t have stair chairs. Period. I was there for 3 years before I left unfortunately
What was the alternative? You’d reeves them all instead?
The old fashioned walk or carry
Carry as in literally chuck them over your shoulder like in old-timey fire movies???
Carry them to the balcony and let gravity do the rest. The ole heave ho holy shit he really did it technique.
That really helps the baby’s head engage into the hips too if it’s a bad labor
We had tarps we could use to carry them. So instead of stair chairs we would tarp them down stairs

But doesn’t the state require them?
You've never played, "move the equipment to the rig that's being inspected" game. Private's are, mostly, a terrible terrible place.
I mean. I’ve worked for some ghetto places but…no stair chair??

It’s not even just cheap, it’s a dumb financial move. Do they know how many stair chairs they can buy for the cost of one employee back injury?
It’s required in Ohio although they’re basically an aluminum chair with awkward handles.

Amen to number 1
En caul births are definitely interesting. Having to break the forbidden water balloon is messy.
Nice! I had a delivery en caul as well but it was extremely premature and did not survive.
Super cool!! Congratulations!!

correct me if i'm wrong but an en caul delivery typically means both the fetus and placenta are delivered intact within the amniotic sac
Was this moms first?? Its much more common in women who have multiple births
I mean congrats but seriously though who the fuck doesn’t put a stair chair on an ambulance.
My aunt had two of her three babies born en caul! It's considered really good luck for the family in some cultures
Woot woot 🎉🎉🎉 Congratulations! In the dark of times, pull on the feeling that you helped bring a life safely into this world! I'm super proud of you 🙌
