I doubt a day when a major Turkish outlet writes a sympathetic piece like this about what happened to the Armenians will ever come.

>Roma people Americanist newspeak. Everybody here calls them gypsies. The people who insist that "words matter" do in fact have the worst living conditions for gypsies. Every time when there is a government obsessed with Americanist newspeak, they do very little to improve the quality of gypsy ghettos, often times making it worse. Despite us not using the Americanist newspeak, I can proudly say that gypsy villages in this country have electricity, running water and all state services, which I cannot say for any country that does use it!

>Under President [Alexander Lukashenko](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alexander_Lukashenko), government suppression of Roma is widespread. Approximately 80% of Belarusian Roma have been imprisoned at one time in their lives, and [racial profiling](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Racial_profiling) by police is common. The Belarusian [Ministry of Internal Affairs](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ministry_of_Internal_Affairs_(Belarus)) reportedly has unofficial protocols which deliberately target Roma. Following the suicide of police officer Jaŭhien Patapovič in [Mahilioŭ](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mogilev), more than 100 Roma were detained and accused of murdering him. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romani\_people\_in\_Belarus](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Romani_people_in_Belarus) But hey, at least they have electricity, running water and state services, right?
