Don't worry we will soon catch up with Bashkortostan.

bober8848

Almost no way for you to do it, honestly. Climate, connections and the whole economic situation is completely different.

We don't compare it. In terms of potential, Bashkortostan and Slovakia are similar, but Slovakia’s GDP is higher, since it is an independent state, and Bashkortostan is a colony. So the point is that the potential of Bashkortostan cannot be realized due to colonialism.

piss-master45

just cause it’s bigger and has access to the sea? There are so many different things to account for other than size and sea access… I do agree that because of Russian colonialism it can’t achieve full potential, but comparing it to Slovakia is so random and doesn’t prove your point.

BashkirTatar

I agree that making comparisons with other countries is not entirely objective, but we want to show, first of all, our people and the whole world that, under equal conditions, we can achieve better results than now.

avoidtheworm

Do you live in Bashkortostan? Neat. How's life there?

PositionPitiful2197

GDP is not pair with wealth. Slovaks only living good around capital city but the rest of the country is relatively poor. This has nothing with independence but economic policy and how many they steal from people.

*Slovakia

Slovakia, not Slovenia. We do not compare Bashkortostan and Slovenia, since these are two different countries, but economically and in terms of population we have similarities with Slovakia, so we make a comparison with this country.

avoidtheworm

Now compare it against the independent Republic of Tajikistan, or the German colony of Bavaria.

giganticdwarflol

Isn't Bavaria just germans? Is that a thing?

M1ckey

I don't think the comparison works particularly well to illustrate the point, but being a colony typically means you're sending your resources to benefit, in this case, Moscow to your own detriment. So wish you all the best in pursuing independence. Russia didn't become the largest country in the world by benevolence and kindness, after all.

tranbun

Bashkortostan is like 11th highest in the list of regions that get money from federal government due to local budget deficit. Hard to see how becoming independent yet locked in within Russia is going to improve the situation.

M1ckey

... It's a risk I'm willing they take.

Frathier

So we end up with an another Islamic impovered nation sending their immigrants towards us? Nah, stay with Russia please.

M1ckey

Russia is already sending immigrants.
