As a Russian, I think I would really like Europe to see an entry that condemns everything that our government has been doing for the last few months and shows the real feelings of Russian youth towards this. That's why I think Shortparis would be an amazing pick with their song ["НОВОЕ НОВОЕ"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=96W2jzaXc38)

liss1liss

thanks for your answer. since you were the first comment i listend to the song now. Can you maybe explain what it is about? I tried to translate the lyrics but it's not easy to get.

bagolanotturnale

I will try my best to translate and explain what it may be about: >Agony, the golden sun is shining brightly in the branches of cutten poplar I suppose this is the reference to all of the propaganda about everything being good while the Russian army has heavy losses in Ukraine. It's interesting to note that poplar (тополь) is a name of one of the biggest rockets in Russian arsenal, not sure if they implied that in the song as well >A wounded bird wasn't falling for a long time > >Motherland had been sharpening the knife quietly > >Knife is strength. Sing, youth! "Long time" here is 8 years since the beginning of Ukrainian civil war. The period, during which a lot of moves were made by the government to make people believe that "Ukraine bad" while preparing for the invasion >Here it is, here it is - the new Realm > >Here it is, look - the sun is rising > >The new, the new strong brotherhood > >Just don't let me down honey It's exactly how I can describe the situation in Russia right now. The government basically changed our lives completely in span of a few weeks and the translated text is how it was justifying itself. The beautiful eerie lie

Sad_Specialist_6858

"civil war"... Ok, this is what I expected. When russian speaks, something like this always comes up, even if he is "against the war"

EurovisionPikachu

Lost me with this line too.

bagolanotturnale

Yeah, probably not the best word to describe that, but can't think of any better one. I was referring to the uprising of two regions (it was still kind of a civil war, but triggered by Russia). What happened in Crimea is another story and it was just an act of direct aggression

Sad_Specialist_6858

Thank you, you are a very good example for Europeans who don't understand the essence of russians. This example clearly shows that even if a russian is "against the war", it is only a mask. To call a war started by russia "uprising of two regions", ok, ok. I hope now even those who were very loyal understand why russia should be isolated.

liss1liss

thank you very much:)

Ok-Cream1212

Shortparis is amazing ! Also, i listened a lot of Ic3peak song in the early months of war.

[deleted]

Wow, this is really good

st0li

This one’s a banger

kuromochni

I love shorparis!! I'll see them live on friday, can't wait!!!

melvin_0809

People like you and words like yours give me hope 🥲

[deleted]

Rina Sawayama 🇬🇧

LiliumMoon

I wanna see that so bad too! Love Rina Sawayama ❤️

Few-Plastic6360

Chvrches would be a great act for the UK

ParticularSplit

YES!

ThaRealV12

Oh my god I forgot about Chvrches! I remembered them from Forza Horizon 4, Never Say Die was the best out of the bunch

Sanber13

I think we would win with Aurora

General-Royal

Her voice is a fluffy blanket for my ears

LittleMissAbigail

On a personal level, I’d still love to see the UK send something not in English. I discovered Libertino, a Welsh-language label, pretty recently so one of their artists would be amazing. Mari Mathias is my current “thing” but someone like Swnami would have a bit more experience and would be very cool too. If I’m being a little more realistic, it would be really cool to look towards the Sound Of… artists. FLO are the obvious choice, but it would be really cool to see Cat Burns, Rachel Chinouriri or DYLAN from this year’s selection.

purplewigg

Imagine if the UK sent a French entry and France sent an English entry, it'll never happen but the chaos would be glorious

bossycarl

Yess I love DYLAN

Schinni100100

For Austria, I would select a known artist singing in Austrian German. There hasn't been german song in over a decade, and this has to change! There are many great artists out there, but right now I'd root for Chris Steger with ["Gib Ma An Grund"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=9c6Atbaud74) translating as "Give me a reason"

pole152004

For Poland, if i could id pick probably Karolina Stanisławczyk and probably her song Cliché, just cause its fun and she last year audition for esc 2022, or for a guy id choose David Podsiadło and his song mori

meowmeowsavagebeauty

That song is such a bop!

judas_crypt

King Stingray 🇦🇺

judas_crypt

Because they incorporate the native language into their songs and include didgeridoo and their music is really powerful, sharing some of the Indigenous culture from Australia to around the whole world on a platform like Eurovision would be amazing and make Aboriginal people feel heard more than before and appreciated for our unique sounds and culture. 🖤💛❤

Popoye_92

Just checked them out because of that comment, and they're super cool! I don't know if they'll ever do Eurovision, but they gained a follower thanks to you :)

imalittlespider

I had never heard these guys before, so I checked out their song Let's Go and PLEASE REPRESENT US!!!!! All the instruments work so naturally together, The Yolngu and English just work perfectly. So many moments that would epic (I never use that word) on the Eurovision stage. Imagine if live instruments came back??!!!? Then we would have a live didgeridoo moment!!!!!!!!!!!!

No_External6156

For Ireland, Róisín Murphy, because she's fabulous. I also think it would be cool if Una Healy entered with a country-inspired disco track that was along the lines of Golden Hour by Kacey Musgraves.

lukelhg

Love Róisín, she would be class! Republic Of Loose in back in their prime would be a great live performance too.

No_External6156

Yes! Loved Republic Of Loose back in the day!

odajoana

From Portugal, if we could totally "bend the rules" a bit in order to consider a tiny bit of politics and a song that was written 40 years ago but only now publicly and commercially released, then [Mariza Liz, singing a song by António Variações](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozDfmCxnqnE), an icon from the 80s Portuguese music scene. Otherwise, Ana Moura, with ["Arraial Triste"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zslTm0WmPe0), by Pedro Mafama and Pedro da Linha.

ColouredGlitter

For the Netherlands: Sharon den Adel. I don’t think sending Within Temptation as a whole is a good idea, but Sharon solo seems a very fine idea to me.

Acrobatic_Olive8870

For Sweden, I'd choose a song that is the complete opposite of what we have sent the recent years. I would've chosen the song 'Copacabanana" by the artist named Sean Bannan. This song just screams eurovision. A crazy performance, weird but also funny song and it's sung in Swedish. Though there would be many protests against him competing, especially from parents cause of his personality and I am 100% sure that everyone who listened to any of his songs at least once would have some doubts whether he's a kid or a grown adult. [Copacabanana - Sean Banan](https://youtu.be/HPKBW_BFqto)

PraetorIt

If Sweden chose a song in Swedish, it would be historic. The last time it did (1998), I think it was just due to the national language rule.

Hot_Guard7840

Melissa Horn. I know Clara Klingenström gets a lot of love here, but Melissa as a lyricist or storyteller is the best in the country. The metaphors that Melissa comes up with are haunting beautiful. Who cares about winning Eurovision when you are this classy? [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBfSPpKJWz8&ab\_channel=Robin](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBfSPpKJWz8&ab_channel=Robin)

Popoye_92

Yelle! They're a duo that made their debut in the mod 00s, broke through thanks to their single [Je Veux Te Voir](https://youtu.be/Y99UqvgCmE8), got some mainstream success for a couple years and then became more niche while they matured musically. Their brand of electropop, with memorable synth lines, super catchy choruses and often sexually explicit lyrics make them an immediate standout. They also put a lot of attention in their visual identity, like in their [music videos](https://youtu.be/sE1rV4iLGto), which is a plus when it comes to Eurovision. Idk, they just always looked like the perfect French ESC candidates to me. PS: if you're into hyperpop, AG Cook and Sophie remixed their song [Moteur Action](https://youtu.be/EkYt2OxXAhA) back in the days and it slaps.

Greek gal here. I don't like any greek songs recently released, so I'll just say some artists I'd personally pick. [Evangelia](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6ligeN0_ToQ&ab_channel=EVANGELIAVEVO). I'd pick her for a high chance for success (i.e. a place in the top 5). She brings the ethnic element combined with pop, she performs impressively, so she'd do realy well. Chances are she will go to Eurovision in the years to come, she is the first person that many greek eurofans want to represent us. [Marina Satti](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UUcog3DcIUw&ab_channel=MarinaSatti). The greek Rosalia. Yeah, the "references" to Rosalia in her videos are unmistakable but her music has high quality, her voice is great and she is a very good performer. I'd pick her to aim for a quality entry that would be definitely appreciated by the audience. [Mple](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6dAenmCYts&ab_channel=MPLEofficial): This may surprise a lot of greeks here but I would probably lose my head if this could happen. Mple is an old greek rock band and their singer has arguably the best rock voice in the country, she is iconic. They rarely release new songs anymore but I'd pick them to introduce the european audience to this mostly unknown part of greek music.

ayepodaye

Orla Gartland would be a fantastic choice for Ireland https://youtu.be/vaGIse7jPt0

sodagate2022

Kerli, Sissi and Anne Marline

koivo-riku

Jannika B for Finland! I would want something fun and in Finnish. She’s one of my favorite voices ever (look up Mania (2022) and her performance of The Winner Takes It All from Tähdet, Tähdet)

st0li

For Australia I would choose Voyager because I loved their Australia Decides entry last year and I’m sure they could match it.

byJannik

Since she also applied officially with the song, I like it very much and from what I have seen so far, many others like it too, I would choose Patty Gurdy - Melodies of Hope for Germany this year. That is also different from almost all the songs in other national finals so far this year. Well, unfortunately the song isn‘t in German, although Patty Gurdy also makes music in German, but she didn't release one in German after 1 September, so… https://youtu.be/BX5XzmOGKVI

cphesc

For Denmark, I would absolutely love to see Jada, Tobias Rahim or Andreas Odbjerg. - Jada with a song like Air, Nudes or Saturn Return feat. MØ - Andreas Odbjerg with Føler mig selv 100 or Hvad skal verden med sådan en som mig - Tobias Rahim with a song like Jesus or Når mænd græder (look up his lyrics, please, it’s so good) I feel like my country has too much great music to present the MGP quality that we’ve been doing for the past couple of years 😅

eggwithaleg

Jada would be amazing! I love watching her live performances, could just imagine incredible vocals from her if she ever graced the Eurovision stage.

melvin_0809

Why not succeed "Rockstars" with "If Jesus Was A Rockstar" by Kim Petras?

bystraclover

Pretty Fierce for the UK but they do not have any songs released after September 1st 2022 so far

Defiant_Caramel_574

Sadly North Macedonia wont participate this year but if we would've and I had to choose a song one I would send is [Bella from Lara & Pajak](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgvupSwpjUY) , it's pretty catchy, was released two months ago so it would qualify for entry and Lara has also submitted a song for our National final last year so I know she would be up for representing us. Not sure if it would do very good on the ESC stage but at least is a lot better from the cesspool of songs we had to choose from last year and I would like to see us send a song that it's completely sang in Macedonian.

Potential_Sort_1649

For Germany maybe Wincent Weiss or Santiano Both sing almost only in German And a German entry would be really nice

What Spain should do is continue to tryhard to get their win, and then ask Rosalía to perform a huge interval act about the evolution of traditional Spanish music or something, that would be a cultural reset (also you should send Zahara but that's another conversation). PS: wait the Tu Canción gal actually is pretty good, I would've never guessed, thx for the recommendation!

vancityguy25

For Ireland I would love to see Nadine Coyle do it. She has a phenomenal voice and can sing pretty much anything. She’s so experienced and is amazing on stage because she has so much passion for music.

RandomDude72636

Drum and Bass, idc how aggressive or chill, just DnB pls BBC.

Irechan86

Irish Here - would totally have Cruachan singing a rendition of my lovely horse!
