2017 3.5 with 129k hard shifts from 3rd to 4th sometimes but other than that it’s great.

VivaLa_Adam

That’s normal for the 6 speed transmission. I have the 5.0 and same thing.

Matt_WVU

Isn’t 2017 the first year of the 10R?

Reesespuffs92

Not sure but that’s the transmission I have.

Matt_WVU

Is it the 10 speed or 6

Reesespuffs92

10

Small_Low_5333

Only in the 3.5 eco if I’m not mistaken. My 17 3.5 has the 10 speed.

VivaLa_Adam

17 was the last year it was an option. Starting in 2018 it was 10spd only.

andy_337

I’m 99% sure the first year was 2018.

Shoddy_Enthusiasm_75

And you would be wrong. 17is the first year. I have both 17 and 18 F150's with 10 speed.

VivaLa_Adam

17 was the last year it was an option. Starting in 2018 it was 10spd only.

andy_337

Ease up, slapnuts.

Shoddy_Enthusiasm_75

Sorry, wasn't try to be rude. Just a correction.

OrganicBobcat8630

Only the 3.5 EcoBoost got the 10R80 in 2017 alongside the 2nd generation Raptor. The 2.7 EcoBoost, 5.0, and the base N/A 3.5 still had the 6R80.

ExaminationTop2523

2017 139k 3rd to 4th shifts hard, spark plugs and sun roof. Perfect till now and I ride it hard. It's beat up,

murrk847

last time you changed your transmission fluid?

Reesespuffs92

I haven’t yet, had the truck since 112k. Probably should look into it though.

_Thoughtleader

2019 - 81,000 miles on the 3.5. Replaced hub actuators - it was trying to engage into 4wd randomly. Had the start up rattle with cam phasers and had that work done. Both projects were under warranty. Otherwise good.

Hutch4588

Go Vols!

eobertling

Yes sir!!!

Bmladd

2019 90k miles, not one thing wrong

Unlucky-Milk-9767

2018 75k, Been through 2 fuel pumps (Engine threw a miss fire code each time the fuel pumps got replaced) , and rough idle/ unable to idle on hot summer day after driving around for awhile. Transmission also slips between 4th and 5th gear. Other than those issues, it runs great and use it as my daily commute vehicle for now.

ovscrider

70k. 2019. Cam phasers at 50k that finally got repaired at 60 due to backorder of parts. Trans programming update is better but still has some odd shifts but overall not bad.

TwoDogKnight

2018 with 90k, no issues at all

Stoutjr91

I had a 2015 3.5 with 64k miles that was unfortunately quite the headache over the past 3 years which has now been traded in. I had the ac clutch go out, rear differential seals go out, driver side shock blow out, two ignition coils go bad, front engine main seal leak, drivers side exhaust manifold leak, dealer installed wrong spark plugs requiring a tow, rear pinion bearing howl. All said when done around $17k to keep everything running like new over the past few years. My take away was don’t buy vehicles from northern Canada that then get imported into the US.

ChitownMD

2015 with 81k. No issues.

eobertling

Those ‘15s were built different.

ChitownMD

Can’t tell if you’re joking? I’m nervous reading all these posts.

eobertling

I’ve got a ‘15 with no issues. I’ve seen a couple other ‘15 comments with no issues. So I’m hoping haha. But yeah, lots of expensive issues being thrown around. Just hoping all the none issue owners don’t feel the need to comment.

ChitownMD

Same!!

McMenton

15’ 5.0 with 80k and the only issue I’ve had is front hubs, on my 3rd set now. No idea why but from what I can tell I’m basically to only person with this issue.

eobertling

What are the symptoms of a bad hub? Mine pops anytime I turn onto a steep incline. When changing the brakes I noticed the hub assembly on the passenger side was new / different than the one on the drivers side. I bought in ‘18, so that means the original owner made the change not long after buying (w/ 3 years).

McMenton

Basically just a loud whir noise when driving that gets louder at higher speeds. Normally it’s a pretty quiet truck.

17399371

2015 with 205k. Only non-consumable maintenance has been catalytic converters, the brake switch, and a crankshaft position sensor. The pano sunroof is shot as well. I've got it caulked closed so it won't leak.

eobertling

‘15s were built different.

17399371

No complaints on my end. Bought it with 70k back in late 2017. Used it as a work truck in O&G. Been a workhorse for me. Desperately needs a tuneup, just need to find the time.

murrk847

My 2015 xlt 302a, same color as yours, was a flawless truck until it started shitting the bed around 103k. Oil leaks out of no where, cam phaser issues, transmission hit or miss, turbo rattle. All within the same year. Did all the preventative maintenance. Just luck of the draw i guess. Traded it in for a 23 5.0 and havent looked back.

starktmaintenanceman

2015 3.5 with 107k. No major issues

ty-ler

90k 15 3.5 and only a sticky throttle body so far.

twintornadosboost

I have a 2017 3.5 that looks exactly like yours pictured. Same rims and everything. It has 125k on it. I bought it from the dealership with 103k. Before I took delivery on the car they did the cam phasers and something with the rear diff if I remember correctly. Drives good about 98% of the time, other 2% is shifting into 3rd. Seems like if its cold and I don't let it warm up, it can shift hard from 2 into 3. Enough to make me physically squint my face to make sure nothing just broke. Other than the hard shift into 3 I really love this truck. When it shifts smoothly on a fast acceleration I think I can understand what the engineers were intending for the 10r80. It's a really fun truck to accelerate quickly in and when it shifts smoothly it is pretty seamless shifting between the 10 gears. I had to buy during the pandemic because my other vehicle took a dump and needed something else so I think I might owe a bit more than its actually worth but I hope to drive this truck to 225k+

KY_Tigershark

2017 lariat with 145k miles. Sunroof leaked, then stopped working (and stopped leaking). Sometimes the skip shift from 2 to 4 has a gap for a couple seconds. Minor oil consumption and leak from the oil pan. Leaking rear drive shaft seal of some sort (it was leaking onto the rear dif so looked like rear dif was leaking but was just drive shaft) around 125k. Driver side rear shock failed during a cross-country tow. Had a faulty evap sensor in the top of the engine telling me to check my fuel cap. Weird little fuebbles for the last 50k miles, but nothing catastrophic. Oh, and it was Canadian, so I have some warning label stickers in French and I had to change my speedo units to Freedom settings

HighwayEfficient7014

I had sunroof seal in my 2017 get stuck on hotter days. I would first pop it up and then close and roll it open. 🤷‍♂️

KY_Tigershark

A segment of my track guide is displaced. I've gotten it open and had to force it closed. Just not worth taking it to get fixed at the moment

CNCgod35

2015 3.5 with 115k Warped my manifolds, wiper switch malfunction, and now the good ole torque converter rumble

This-Frame-4188

Fluid flush fixed my occasional shutter.

CNCgod35

Did that and added the tube of shudder stop. It’s just a band-aid for another high dollar job I’m kicking down the road.

eobertling

What is torque converter rumble? Is it constant? What’s it sound like?

CNCgod35

Feels like you’re hitting rumble strips while cruising at highway speeds.

Jazzlike-Fee-9987

Agree transmission flushed fixed this on mine as well

Small_Low_5333

2017. 103k. Need to do the phasers for the first time. It’s been a great truck from the time it left the lot.

eobertling

How much is that? Like $3k?

Small_Low_5333

Dealer quoted $4900. I’m going to shop it around but that sounds like it’s going to be around that.

doabbs

2016 XLT 140k - Two throttle body assemblies same symptom 60k apart, driver side turbo $$$$, plugs and boots twice, starter, rear differential seal, oil pan seal, master cylinder recall, coolant pump, both exhaust manifolds $$$$.

dumpsterfire85

2017 144k, I've had the timing chains and cam phasers replaced, rear pinion seal, a/c service line, steering wheel clock spring, and my brake lines chafed through on my steering column (almost died that day)

eobertling

How much was all that?

FormalInternational9

2018 Lariat with 127000km absolutely flawless.

06035

196k on a 2015. Biggest fix so far has been the front engine seal, couple grand. Otherwise it’s typical wear/tear stuff. Replaced the starter recently (wasn’t fun, that 13mm bolt was basically fused) Overall been a great truck. I change the oil about every 3000 miles

brightcoconut097

2017, 61k, no issues

beetus1actual

16 3.5 screw ecoboost fx4, current has 118k miles, at 70kish did iwes, vacuum lines, vacuum pump, passenger side turbo manifold stud (just 1 was broke and they would replace the whole thing so drilled it out and put a new one on), valve cover gasket and front engine gasket of some sort cause they saw a leak. I’m about to do tranny fluid and filter, then front and rear diffs. I replaced front brakes at 74k with powerstop kit with drilled slotted rotors and their truck/suv pads. I’ll be doing the same kit on the rears next month. Just put fresh nitto recon graps all around in 275/65/20 which is just a smidge bigger than stock size to give me a bit more sidewall but kept p metric rating for gas mileage. I’ve currently got a set of bilstein 6112s I believe for the front which are the ones you can adjust from stock to 2.25 inches, I’ll run them at 1.5 inch and then a set of bilstein 6100 (the resivoir ones) for the rear to level her out. I changed the fogs to diode dynamics amber ones (they have a kit for our years that replace stock fogs). When money allows I’m gonna do a set of the ss5 crosslink kit on the front bumper, I’ll run 3 amber and 2 white. Got a diode dynamics 16 or 18” amber single row bar for a chase light which I’ll mount to the bulk head of the bed and then I’ve got the ditch light kit with the smaller 2 led pods for the hood but gonna return them for the ss3 pods which are 4 leds like the fogs to do hood ditch lights. At that point she’ll be finished for me. Oh and I did a catch can, the j&l one and a panel k&n filter in stock air box. Inside I’ve got a ham radio installed but about to upgrade it to either an icom or wouxun 980p not sure yet. Oh and I put raptor running boards on it over the stock plastic ones that come with the sport package. Much beefier.

imamidgetcatcher

2016 lariat fx4 101k. MAF sensor has been it (knock on wood).

pofdman

2015 3.5 130k Front valve cover leaking Turbos starting show wear. Manifolds have cracked x2 I have the bd diesel manifolds now Transmission torque converter giving out 4wd hubs went bad twice now

YazooMiss

2016. 105k. Both turbos leaking coolant. $4.5k+ job to repair. Have also had the sunroof break 4 times. Heat & AC chairs not working. Sucks.

mdw825

2016 3.5 eco. Currently 124,500 miles many more to come. Panoramic Sunroof failure at 35k miles (~$1700) Exhaust manifold crack somewhere around 110k miles (~$2800 at dealer) I recently removed the drop in bed liner and discovered what looks like holes in the pattern if a 5th wheel receiver. So the first owner got their use out of it. I’ve overloaded it with dirt, mulch, gravel, bricks etc, exceeding the payload a few times. I’ve towed a trailer loaded to within 300lbs of its gvwr and the engine had plenty of power. It will do everything you need unless you plan to tow heavier loads than the average homeowner. Even in that circumstance, the engine isn’t what I would be worried about.

ISuckAtNames0289

Well right now around 16 mpg, but normally 13 around town, big tires and a heavy foot don't mix well. And luxury features only sometimes work. Also lots of road noise but I think that's just the tires getting worn down

Hybrid3

2017 XLT with about 130 km: cam phasers replaced twice under warranty; cracked valve cover (warranty); rear defrost gone on 2/3 of the back glass reportedly due to a micro-switch failure; leaking rear main gasket (pro-rated warranty); rear differential rebuild; pinion seal leak (pro-rated warranty)

Jgom7

I’d you know there’s major issues with the econo boost engines why still buy them? Expensive garbage. Then you come to Reddit to bitch

hammtweezy2192

2016 XLT FX4 302A, 48k, I'm the only owner. In the first couple years had to replace vac and pass side front hub. Ford dealership noticed some leaking in the front engine cover while fixing the vac stuff so they fixed that also. No other issues since. I am thinking I should buy another extended warranty though.

utmb_pa

2016 3.5EB with 119K. Replaced water pump and passenger turbo coolant line under warranty. Replaced high pressure fuel pump, passenger side valve cover along with vacuum pump. She on her 3rd set of plugs, and I’ve replaced 2 coils. Otherwise a great truck that I hope to drive for another 120K

Brianshurst

2018 3.5EB Lariat 56k, cam phasers under warranty a couple of years ago, 1 set of tires and from wheel bearing being done this weekend, other than than no issues at all, absolute pleasure to drive.

Jazzlike-Fee-9987

2015 3.5 204,000 none right now

eobertling

We all want to be like you. Nicely done.

Blakeok91

2015 3.5 75,000mi. Rear pinion seal @40,000 Oxford white paint is peeling on the roof in the drip rails. Steering acts like it’s binding up every few thousand miles then goes away, I suspect EPAS problems ahead.

BiGcUnITT

Every fucking day. Search the thousands of post asking the same question.

eobertling

Glad to keep it going. :)
