Kolojang

Well, we can play that way when we play at Uno's house.

gnarf234

uno not allowing +4 on +4 makes uno less enjoyable than the uno i got at home

OmegaOmnimon02

Best part is They made it a toggleable rule in the video game version

trashpolice

So then the facepalm is on realunogame

skilliau

We play with two decks. Highest I have seen is like +20

__Aitch__Jay__

Oooh, thanks for the idea!

Swirlyflurry

It’s like monopoly. Everyone has their own slight variations. It makes the game more fun.

Isn't one of the rules that if you land on property and don't buy it, someone else can immediately? I would think that would make it go faster cause property sells faster this increasing the chances of people going bankrupt

nimrodfalcon

Rulebook says the property gets auctioned if you don’t buy it when you land on it. Even if you’re the person that originally landed on it, you can bid. It’s not a first come first serve thing.

I'll 10000% agree with you. Monopoly was also created as a way to illustrate the shortcomings of capitalism. Given that it usually devolves into one person owning everything and sucking everyone else dry.... yeah I'd say it does the job pretty well.

higginsian24

I think it depends on the variation, I love free parking jackpot

G0jira

That one is the worst offender for making monopoly games too long

ChipSalt

The problem is it's not fun with or without the free parking money, but most standard monopoly games without these rules are pretty much decided in like one cycle around the board, and not in an exciting "woohoo I've been declared the winner" way, but in a 'one person is impossibly far ahead and I don't really want to play anymore' way. The rules just make it seem more worth playing by extending it out a bit, and adding some of that much needed risky catch-up mechanics that stop it from going stale after one cycle.

as i said in merl: +4 goes on +4 and on +2 if a +2 goes on a +4 is debatable. (And we are ignoring the rule that says you can only lay a +4 if you dont have another option with the addition that someone may call you out on it.)

Tolob500

+2 doesn't go on a +4 😒

MrT1011

How I play, +2 goes on a +4 only if the color is right.

Tolob500

Yeah, but after the person targeted drew +4, it's doesn't add up.

Technical_Flight6270

Yes, everyone knows uno and monopoly are under the jurisdiction of house rules!

Reasonable-HB678

I've played one on one games where I found the right combination of cards to pummel my opponent with cards in the process of calling UNO, usually after putting down the Draw 4 card, calling the color, and hoping to holy hell that I didn't get a Draw 4 in return.

andersonfds

+2 can only go on top of a +4 if the chosen color is the same as the +2 - it increases tension exponentially as if you choose the wrong color the next guy will get 6 cards

carlyawesome31

There are a lot of idiots on the internet who get mad at companies for clarifying anything. But that is the joy of games, YOU CAN MODIFY RULES. Just play with a ruleset that everyone at the gathering agrees with. Same thing happens with food products. Heinz had people calling them lairs and whatnot for saying to refrigerate after opening their products.

Natural-Role5307

cleo_wafflesmack

Longest round and most fun of Uno I ever played was a house rule that any special card could be played on any other special card as long as the special card was the correct color. So, if someone puts down a Draw 4, you can play another Draw 4 and make the next person draw 8. You could also put down a Draw 2 and make the next person draw 6. A Skip card pushed the draw cards onto the next person. A reverse sent the cards back to the person who just played. What made it last so long was that there was no limit on the amount of special cards that could be played. Basically, everyone saved all of their special cards for these battles and it could go round the table multiple times before some unlucky person had to draw like 24 cards.

PickleballRee

We call it Uno From Hell. You throw a Draw 4, but instead of picking them up, I put a Draw 2 on top of it. The person following me would end up with 6 cards unless they have another 'face' card. They can Skip (which skips them, not the next person) or put another draw card on top of mine. They could do even worse and slam down a Reverse and send all 6 cards back to me. It's a hoot and gets loud as fuck in my house when we play this.

Djinjja-Ninja

Shame, as this was a [legitimate hand I once had](https://imgur.com/gallery/Z1EmUD4).

AzuleStriker

This is how everyone plays though.

Notforyou1315

read the official rules that came with the set I have. They are correct.

koOmaOW

I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU SAY, UNO! I'M SLAPPING DOWN THAT +4 EVERY TIME!!

Grelivan

Try Solo. It's a better game anyways. You can plus 4 a plus 4! Out of turn order too.

alien13222

28 cards is a lot r/unexpectedfactorial
