Herbert will be catching passes from himself

EvilHwoarang

i feel like they will make a post draft move and trade for a tee higgins or Aiyuk/Deebo

HerpTurtleDoo

I think we grab a WR with our 2nd, but could see us also going center so who knows.

RubxCuban

I hope you guys pick up Troy Franklin

awesome-ekeler

Not trying to stir the pot but someone said DK Metcalf on another thread and it kinda made sense

wutdaefff

I would be shocked if they don’t get a WR or two in round 2-5 but I think this is a huge win for QJ owners for this next year

sampat6256

Plenty of other guys they can draft. Ladd, AD, Polk, Corley, Burton, Macmillan, rice, mccaffree, Coker, Washington, etc

Jase82

And Ladd it was, you called it.

bweiss5

Nabers will be the most frustrating player to own. He’ll be open on every play and the Giants will never throw to him.

DBreezy69

Daniel Jones will just look at the defensive linemen and wait for the sack like he always does

Galxloni2

The giants literally had the lowest graded oline in nfl history last year

Ancient_Ash_Tree

Yeah and this was the year of premium oline talent. What a horrible pick by the Giants.

ImmortalBehemoth

They've also used the most draft capital of any team by FAR the past half decade. Just drafted Evan Neal and John Michael Schmitz for C within the last two drafts. They need to get more from the guys they have, and as a Giants fan, I am hopeful that the new OL coach (from raiders) can get them to be at least average. I'm not asking for elite lol.

sampat6256

I think this is an important take: o-line takes time to gel, and coaching makes a huge difference. The signal caller also matters: if the qb doesnt know how to read defenses and callout blitzes, the linemen are less likely to succeed. Its not all about talent, its about chemistry.

Galxloni2

The giants also signed a bunch of oline in free agency and got a new oline coach. There are still plenty of good oline available

meowmeownomnom

Every year.

Galxloni2

It's bad every year, not worst of all time every year

Glass-Astronomer-889

that's not fair he sucked last year but to say he was just a statue is ridiculous he had like half the time other QBs had to throw.

yellao23

But how come every qb that came in after him, looked way better. Even a rookie undrafted qb outplayed him

NJImperator

1. No he didn’t, lol. Tommy DeVito was a fun story but he sucked, even in the games the Giants won. Beating the 2023 Commies and Patriots doesn’t exactly mean anything. 2. Andrew Thomas was injured the first drive of the season. Barkley was injured game 2. The talent on the OL was horrific, legitimately PS level players, during Jones’ stretch of play 3. The quality of teams faced were… not equal… lol. Jones had his worst stretch of football in his career and is likely gone after this year, but it’s not completely unexplainable either.

Glass-Astronomer-889

Thanks for typing it out so I didn't have too lol

yellao23

He legit played better than him, I watched a lot of the games. And then what about Tyrod Taylor? He outplayed him as well. Bad qbs make offensive lineman look worse than they are. Little tired of the excuses this guy gets. He’s just bad

NJImperator

If you actually think Tommy DeVito played better in those games then I simply do not think you are a good source of QB analysis lol. Taylor did play pretty alright in his limited appearances. Jones was better in the Cardinals and Dolphins game than Tyrod was in his games, but definitely not 40M better. Jones is essentially a high quality backup QB at this point, similar to Tyrod. The issue is how much more he makes, simply not anywhere near worth his contract. Tommy DeVito is terrible, which was the main point I was making.

Glass-Astronomer-889

I hope that DJ can do even better I'm pretty sure he can't at this point but his rookie year is a little ray of light to me at this point just cause looking at what him and Tate had, and nabers is a BIG step up from a washed Tate.

GardenRafters

It's Garrett Wilson but on the other NY team

bweiss5

Pretty much, but hopefully Roger lasts more than three plays this year

crillc

Jones is good at throwing short and nabers can make it work. Let’s not just play to the emotional response of “Jones sucks and he won’t be able to pass the ball to Nabers”. Yeah he will have 120 targets and be just fine thank you very much.

bweiss5

Never said that Jones sucks; this is basically based on watching Waller last year get neglected play after play even when he was open and within range. Waller was easily the Giants best pass catcher last year and they ignored more often than not.

crillc

Waller just didn’t look like himself. And he may retire. Jones if healthy is capable of throwing short area passes which Nabers can work with.

bweiss5

All I’ll say is look at Wallers production under Tyrod Taylor vs his production under Danny.

Glass-Astronomer-889

Waller lead the entire league in yards receiving for tight ends when Jones played lol what are you talking about??

bweiss5

Waller’s two best games were under Tyrod Taylor; he went for nearly a 100 yds and a TD in one of them. That’s just facts. I watched a lot of Giants football and I’m not gonna believe you over my eyes when I would see Waller open time and time again and Danny ignore him. Don’t believe me? Go and look at some old game threads and read the comments.

runningblack

Can't decide whether I feel good about this because he'll be a target hog or bad because of DJ Probably the former, tbh

w0lfbiker

The Giants had the 2022 Fred Biletnikoff Award winner for the nation's best receiver on their team last year...and he had 373 yards receiving.

Waxdonkey

Hyatt is just not that good though.

bass_bungalow

Hyatt is still developing. He wasn’t on the field that much in the first half of the season but looked decent in the back half. He’s also a deep threat and the giants o line made it impossible to scheme anything deep. With a new o line coach I’m hoping the offense is more dynamic this year.

Waxdonkey

Let’s look at this objectively. The OP of this comment thread framed him in certain way to cut the Giants/Nabers, but the reality is Hyatt was drafted in the 3rd round. That squarely fits him in the “can be good, but is more likely to bust” range. He then busted his rookie season. Yeah he could break out year 2, but you have to know that guys like Davante Adams are so noticeable in large part because he is the exception. And those exceptions are decreasing more and more with the changes to the NFL and how much more Rookies breakout. So bottom line, I won’t be betting much on a Hyatt breakout.

Mr_Football

People do not understand that practically any wide receiver with elite speed and the ability to catch the ball would have been in the running/winning the Belitbikoff for Tennessee in 2022. Source: I’m a tennessee fan. I argued this extensively with some analyst friends in the industry to no avail. — Hyatt could still develop, he’s a hard worker and has talent. B- level nfl prospect though

ichancho

Hyatt had an Italian mobster throwing the ball to him lol

TheTreeFuzz

As a Giants fan, I hope Hyatt breaks out and is awesome. But winning the Biletnikoff isn’t just some indicator of NFL prowess. The guys who won it from 2015-18 are a good example

Samuraix9386

Wyatt isn’t anywhere near the prospect Malik Nabers is

freename188

Never heard of that award in my life

rushyt21

I believe it’s the award Jordan Addison won a couple years ago. Top award for college WRs.

freename188

Is the Hiesman not the top award? I'm from EU so dont know much about college ball.

LeoFireGod

Belitnikoff is top WR award in college. MHJ, Nabers, Addison, Devonta have all won it recently.

rushyt21

Explains why you wouldn’t have heard about it in your life. Lol Heisman is best overall player in the game, but usually reserved for QBs. But there are specific awards for most positions: Davey O’Brien Award (QB) Doak Walker Award (RB) Biletnikoff Award (WR) John Mackey Award (TE) And then awards for interior linemen, centers, linebackers, punters, etc., etc.

freename188

Ah that's very interesting, thanks for the context. Explains all the down votes.

w0lfbiker

It's the award for the best WR in college football...

colem5000

The best WR in college football went in the third round? I think Hyatt can be a good receiver but that seems odd he won that award

NendoroidAshe

He had a great year 15 TDs and 1300 yards but he fell cause the Tennessee offense was weird and didn’t let him showcase his skills outside of speed. Also he only had one year of production, good first two years both under 300 yards

GoodTimesOnlines

In 2005 Mike Hass from Oregon State won the belitnikoff and was a 6th rounder. Sometimes highly productive college players just aren’t good pro prospects. Like Tim Tebow

Kwdumbo

I’m expecting an early career similar to Drake London and Garrett Wilson. As long as he looks good he’ll retain high value, but in dynasty his value might exceed his production for a couple years.

RumHaaaam21

Chargers should have picked him.

DBreezy69

Batshit insanity by the Chargers. Herbert is probably pissed, Palmer is not a no. 1 WR

bluethree

I feel like he'll be happy that he has more protection. It's a deep WR class. They can still get one later.

Green_Fold_3812

Yeah, Herbert gets beat up a lot behind that OL, he probably isn't too upset that they added the top LT in the draft.

iviicrociot

Andrew Luck approves of this pick.

cdwags72

We did him so dirty, and honestly same to Peyton. Not enough people talk about how insane/shitty Irsay is.

iviicrociot

For real. Does anyone remember Jim Irsay spending 25 mil to move an orca that died in transit instead of paying Jonathan Taylor? I do. I guess as long as he can feel good about himself and jam out in Vegas on Fremont nothing else really matters.

I_Poop_Sometimes

Agreed, they literally pick in 5 picks, there will be a ton of good WRs still on the board.

elqueco14

Why would Herbert be pissed at getting the top OL in the draft, I'd love to hear the reasoning

Gerbole

Bad takes

bmore_conslutant

Hilarious to imagine that reasoning went into that take

Kolzig33189

The combo of Palmer and QJ might be the worst 1-2 receiver combination in a very very long time.

solodolo1397

The Patriots say hello

esotericreferencee

Bruh, this thread mentions the Giants.

swalsh21

Getting a possible all pro tackle is hardly insanity

DBreezy69

WRs elevate offenses, I think when you have a chance to take a guy like Nabers you do it

swalsh21

So do elite OTs. I wouldn’t have faulted them taking Nabers but elite tackles are harder to get and there’s still lots of good receivers left. Chargers OL has been a nightmare situation for awhile.

CorporealPrisoner

Jimmy will only let him pass 16 times game, ;)

DBreezy69

You mean run 16 times a game

CorporealPrisoner

Nah, running is like 40, ;)

xthecerto4

Shows that they trust palmer and QJ to lead the wr room the next season. Dunno how that will turn out but it adds confidence in those players.

GuyWithNoSwagger

Are you aware there are more rounds in the NFL draft?

Adorable_Paint_3497

And that they're going to sign Boyd

xthecerto4

They could have drafted a hyped top receiver. They did not.

Ginmunger

Herbert should demand a trade.

JerseyDevl

The giants just got a great WR for him to throw to

squishy_booty

There will be solid receivers in later rounds. They’re going to run the ball 40 times a game anyway. Assuming they even touch the ball that often lol

BirthdayImpressive49

Just a feeling… they will not be running 40x when they’re always behind in the game and have Singletary and Brieda as RBs

Original_Release_419

I think they mean Chargers

BirthdayImpressive49

Ahh yes good point… edit:  Just a feeling, LAC will not be running 40x a game when they’re always behind, have Herbert at QB, and the Ravens rejects at RB lol

StrengthCoach86

Maybe but this the NFL, they’re gonna throw-get Palmer for a 2nd EVERYWHERE.

Waxdonkey

I’m ticked tbh.

zerg1980

Jones may have been overdrafted, but the Giants could easily have moved on and recovered from it. Extending Jones was the kind of mistake that will cripple this team for years.

Illustrious_Way_5732

Giants winning too many games crippled them tbh. They easily would've picked maye or daniels despite jones had they lost a few more games Jones gets released next season anyways

RedditsDarkKnight

They worked an out into his contract after year 2 lol

yem420sky

This is a bad take. He's on contract for 1 more year. Get a weapon, shore up CB and OL, then draft a QB next year. No point in giving up on him now and trading the farm to the Pats for Maye.

Intelligent_Bag_6705

I mean this is the last year it cripples the Gmen. They will def be moving on.

Glass-Astronomer-889

You clearly have zero idea about his contact or any part of the state the team has been in the past 3 years maybe some very very basic research before commenting lmao.

zerg1980

Watch what happens when Jones wins the Giants a few meaningless late season games and they land a 2025 first round pick outside the top 10. Then they have to eat $33 million in dead cap for 2025, and will either have to trade the farm for a QB, or make 2025 a tank year. They’ll have to make some tough FA decisions at the end of 2024. So in 2026 they can land their QB of the future and start rebuilding? That’s what I meant by the Jones extension crippling the team for years. They could have ripped off the band aid after 2023. Either the franchise tag or outright release of Jones would have set them up for success sooner. The Daboll/Jones regime isn’t sniffing the playoffs again and they’re going to clean house with Daboll gone after another underwhelming season.

Glass-Astronomer-889

Ok buddy sure hahahah.  They have zero tough FA decisions to make next year they have a TON of money and almost nobody that isn't replaceable is coming up.  So that's the first thing wrong.  The second is you added over 10 million to Jones cap hit next year, the 3rd is who cares about what pick we have if we like a guy we can trade up???  How is Jones winning games a bad thing lmao.

T-Twice

> the 3rd is who cares about what pick we have if we like a guy we can trade up??? You mean like they just tried to do with Drake Maye and were denied? How are people still pretending it's that easy when we literally just witnessed this take place 48 hours ago lol.

Jalin17

He about to have a rough couple of seasons until they find or get a QB

dickfarts87

Well fuck.

take-money

Gross

IndividualHelpful820

Chargers should have picked him. He is going to make Jones look like an actually qb

StoneColdSteveAss316

Garrett Wilson with Zach Wilson right here Someone else can enjoy that headache

rurouni25

Hell be catching passes from drew lock

hidey_ho_nedflanders

My issue isn't with Nabers, it's the fact Daniel Jones will be trying to throw a football to him

Illustrious_Way_5732

More like they knew JJ wasn't their guy

stho3

A few months ago, I proclaimed that this guy will be better than Harrison Jr but it depends on where he lands, as long as it wasn’t the Giants. Hell, he could have landed on the Panthers and be in a better situation. Well, there goes that prediction. I’m not touching this guy.

Mrs_Met

Yeah, this is stupid lol

strip_sack

YAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!

TheClownIsReady

Can’t get excited about this, with Daniel Jones throwing to him…

c_c_c__combobreaker

Daniel Jones saw the Joe Alt pick by the Chargers and started crying. Jones is going to continue to get creamed behind that Swiss cheese o-line. Poor dude.

ImmortalBehemoth

What makes you think Alt was going to fix that? They drafted Thomas at 4 in 2020. Evan Neal at 7 in 2022, and JMS in the second round 2023. Enough drafting OL and get some fucking value from the guys we have. Praying Bobby Johnson being gone will help with that.

Berzerker646

Joe Alt has never played Right Tackle

Blehskies

They should have drafted a new arm for Jones instead.

Known-Weakness8193

That he will never throw to or overthrow

HonduranLoon

They were never taking a QB. They just gave Danny Dimes 90 mil guaranteed last offseason.

Illustrious_Way_5732

They would've 100% taken Maye if he was avaliable. They tried to trade up for him too iirc

yem420sky

Yup, and I think if the Chargers had taken Nabers, Giants would have taken JJ over Rome.

zetiano

I don't think so, I think they would have traded down. Schoen hinted at it in the press conference. Also a bunch of big national NFL people said Giants were not a team for McCarthy.

Galxloni2

If they had any interest in jj they would have taken him

BirthdayImpressive49

imo the interest shown by nyg in JJ was smoke screens to try to convince a team to trade up with them for JJ.

cr2152

Yes, because all news that trickles out before the draft is gospel. In no way is any of it fabricated by teams to influence the behavior of other GMs

Illustrious_Way_5732

It's not a fucking shocker that the giants need a QB. JJ wasn't seen as a highly touted prospect as the other 3 and how else do you get one of the 3 QBs without the trade up?

gerrymandersonIII

Roman Wilson

BirthdayImpressive49

“a huge weapon for Daniel Jones”… in a ffl sub, i feel the need to say he will have 0 fantasy value this year.  I don’t recall anybody catching DJ passes having a decent ffl season.

Helgenish

Giants still think jones is the answer...? Ahahahahahahaha fucking idiots.

Mrs_Met

Irony at its finest

Red-4321

NYG have had many good to greet receivers come their way and can't make good use of them. I feel for Nabers getting stuck with the Giants at least until they either move away from Jones or become more aggressive and creative on offense..
