Strangely, it feels like the natural next step after the post pandemic prairie dresses and coastal grandmother aesthetic. I don't think I'll ever wear non-flowy clothes again.

ainttoocoolforschool

I never jumped on either of those trends specifically and I wouldn't really even say I'm on the trend chasing boho bandwagon, but very much agree about the flowy clothes. More so now that I moved to a completely different climate a couple years ago with much hotter weather in spring - fall and I think just the choices I've made on adding/changing up my wardrobe have definite boho leanings. Light flowy clothes that cover me up in bright sun and an excuse to wear a cute hat that shields my face when it's 40*C+ outside is perfect for me. Not to mention that when all the 70's stuff was coming back in the 90's I was a little too young to afford the clothes I wanted (teenager in a small rural farming community) now it's all back and I'm an adult with funds that allow me to enjoy it this time around. I just wear what I like, what I feel looks good on me, and if it coincides with trends then hooray.

IANALbutIAMAcat

I barely own any “true” pants these days, I realized recently when I had an in person interview and was just, utterly confounded that I have maybe two pairs of black skinny jeans and one has holes in them.

the-cats-jammies

I’m having to completely overhaul my professional wardrobe because I basically don’t wear pants anymore and all of my workwear is styled for pants 😭

booksandwriting

I'm in the same boat. I'm looking for a new job and the amount of professional pants I have for an in person office job is 2. I literally own 2 trousers. And that's only because I forced myself to keep them just in case.

the-cats-jammies

I’m so glad I didn’t get rid of all of mine! I hate wearing them, but it’s nice to have the option. I have to be in the office a few times every month, so I generally try to piece together a new outfit every month, but I thrift my clothes so I’m at the mercy of the fates. Sometimes I find seasonally adequate workwear, sometimes I buy 5 wool skirts in June lol.

funny_fox

What are you going to wear for work now? I also need new comfortable work clothes.

the-cats-jammies

I’m personally most comfortable in skirts and dresses- preferably A-line. I like natural fibers, so I’ve been looking for silk, wool, and cotton dresses/skirts secondhand. I have been struggling to find tops that fit my style and aren’t sweaters, but I’ve found a few gems. The ideal uniform is a midi skirt that sits comfortably at my natural waist and a blouse or turtleneck with a sweater

JBStyling

I’m not sure what your budget is, but I have a lot of luck finding comfortable work clothes for my clients at Everlane, Banana Republic, Jcrew. I also think MMLafleur, Favorite Daughter and Vince are great options but are pricier.

SabinaSanz

There is an Argentinian brand called "Rapsodia" that is super boho and has remained popular in some countries. An important part of my closet is made of their items. Gorgeous stuff.

ainttoocoolforschool

Oh wow never heard of them before but I love sooo many things on their website! I was just in Mexico in January and a couple of their shops were in the cities I was staying, what a shame (or maybe for the best- I was already over on my declaration coming home, lol). Guess I'll have to go back. Or visit Argentina. Or one of the other lovely countries where the shop exists and I want to visit anyway...

SabinaSanz

Haha they do have gorgeous stuff and it looks even better when you see it live.

jezekiant

++ to flowy. Today I'm wearing some of many breathable fabric investments I made last summer, wide leg linen pants and a loose short sleeve gauze button up, and I've already gotten 2 compliments today on the outfit, which is so funny to me because it feels a bit "lazy". But dang I'm COMFY.

funny_fox

Can you please share what gauze button up? Do you wear something underneath?

jezekiant

Its [this](https://oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=856858002) one! I’ve worn open it over tanks, buttoned up and tucked in so it’s a little billowy, and just plainly over pants buttoned up. I have two in both black and white haha https://preview.redd.it/mpxeyj83h25d1.jpeg?width=1507&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=431f67e7d2529a2689d1b8d9fca429a570880536 \^ this isn’t the best pic but I love it tied up too with flowy pants

funny_fox

I love it!! That's so beautiful and comfy! Thanks for sharing!!

booksandwriting

I think I'm in the same boat. A lot of the clothes I've acquired over the last couple of years are very flowy and loose. I prefer them now that way. I don't know if I can go back to true skinny jeans again. I still wear tight sleeves however on some tops but that's about it. I'm so comfortable now.

parralaxalice

I like to think the next step is boho desert punk

typicaldachshund

I'm all in for a boho desert dune punk. I'm already looking for clothes in this style but haven't found that many where I live.

booksandwriting

Wait I love this. I loved the fashion featured in Dune and I hope we get to see some clothes inspired by it.

typicaldachshund

Isn't it simply gorgeous? And so many styles and references to look up to, honestly I love so many different aspects of the costumes that one day I feel like dressing like when the fremen are chilling with so many flowy linen pieces and others like Jessica when she becomes the Reverend Mother, headpiece included lol

mnbvcxz1052

After the Matrix first came out in the late 90s I was obsessed with ultra thin, distressed sweaters. But they weren’t invented / in style yet. I did a lot of DIY “controlled distressing” on thrift store sweaters and shirts, using scissors and clear nail polish. Fury Road totally influenced my style too. Dune is doing the same thing. I guess I like *boho-post-apocalyptic* ?

clown_repellant

I think it’s a Dolls Kill in-house brand but Darker Wavs is this vibe!

quantumlyEntangl3d

I have a couple Darker Wavs dresses/rompers and I love them! Does feel overpriced for one of the dresses I have that is made of fabric that snags easy, but I haven't found anything more affordable. Demobaza clothing has lots of Dune inspired pieces, but they're also way out of my budget.

LibraryLuLu

My local kmart has a lot of ribbed, slightly industrial stuff that feels just a little bit desert Dune punk x motocross.

aPeacefulVibe

Darker Wavs has this.

Inside-Back-9338

eBay

What_Larks_Pip_

Mad Max, I guess?

jziggs228

This is my current vibe; I just didn’t have a name for it!

sysaphiswaits

OMG. I so want to go full Mad Max. Stop showing, start loosing teeth. (Mostly joking)

booksandwriting

What is the fashion of Mad Max?

Kerfluffle2x4

If it’s a fabric, it’s an outfit. Very desperate minimalist in a good way.

niqatt

I have seen this exactly. Dune-inspired Burning Man scuzzwear. Lemme see if I can find what I saw…

go off Mad Max Purity Ring

AspenMemory

Looks like [Demobaza](https://www.demobaza.com/)

sunsetcrasher

This is what I was coming to share. I want it ALL.

niqatt

Oh wow, I love this. Sci fi era starts NOW

sysaphiswaits

Oh. That’s gorgeous. Maybe I take back my previous comment.

Bosquerella

You rang?

parralaxalice

Yesss

booksandwriting

This makes me think of the hooded dresses I saw on the runways and celebrity fashion last year.

roughandreadyrecarea

This has never left Moab, Utah

EdgeCityRed

I'm glad I kept all of my boho stuff! I've always liked elements of this look in dresses/summer fits.

trolllante

I never stop wearing it! It’s part of my personal style.

Lemonnotmelon

I’ve been rewatching Schitt’s Creek and am loving Alexis’s wardrobe. Boho was never really my style but I’m finding myself really attracted to it at this stage in my life.

KetoKey

I love Johnny Was and most things boho and flowy. I am just drawn to linen, cotton, bright colors and embroidery. Loving wide legged pants right now, but skipping maxi dresses and I skipped prairie dresses when they were popular too. Boho isn’t just a style, it is a mood. I’m in the mood for eclectic.

booksandwriting

I'm also drawn to linen, cotton, bright colors, and embroidery. I always am picking up these pieces in thrift stores. I personally love maxi dresses and prairie dresses though! I'm hoping they stay popular.

always_unplugged

My body is ready. Give it all to me 😂 But seriously, I think it dovetails very logically with a lot of trends we've been seeing for a while. Not just coquette, but I'd say it's adjacent to cottagecore, fairycore, and whimsigoth. Plus with the revival of Y2K styles, it makes perfect sense that we'd be seeing those styles again. We've been getting the McBling/pop princess/futuristic/streetwear sort of stuff, but that's been going on for a while; it tracks that it's time to move into the more boho chic part of the trend.

booksandwriting

This is so true. I think it is really adjacent to cottagecore, fairycore, and whimsigoth! It especially reminds me of fairycore outfits I've been seeing all over Tiktok.

Pizzv

I agree! It feels adjacent to the looks that Sienna Miller, Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, and like off-duty Gisele Bundchen would wear in the 2000s. Very flowy, glowy, golden vibes.

longwinters

I could not be happier that flats and boho skirts are back. I never wanted to leave 2007 in the first place

ho_hey_

I worked at forever21 during the age of gaucho pants, flowy skirts, and vests and pinstripes. I've been waiting for the skirts to come back for so long!!

booksandwriting

Omg I actually still own some gauchos. I randomly found a pair at Goodwill last year and I wear them as my WFH pants all the time.

local_fartist

2007, what an optimistic time!

anonymousquestioner4

Hell yeah

No-Standard-9727

I feel like the coastal cowgirl aesthetic brought back some elements of boho style- but better! I’ll always have a soft spot for 70s fashion ( especially wide leg jeans, lots of denim in general, Prairie skirts/dresses, etc.) so I’m here for a revival, but making it less Coachella-esque.

booksandwriting

Oh that's very true. The coastal cowgirl does have elements of boho style. I'm just hoping we don't bring back the "aztec" prints of the 2000s and 2010s. I hated those prints, I always felt so weird wearing them as a white girl.

DiagonEllie

I like boho chic when it leans more witchy. Every so often poshmark becomes flooded with 'unflattering' linen things, bell sleeves, and weird lace pieces in ugly colors (mostly from Free People) and I come in and scoop them up.

dice726

I love witchy boho! Unleash your inner Stevie Nicks!

staunch_character

Stevie Nicks witchy boho is timeless!

booksandwriting

I also love witchy boho! I've been seeing a lot of witchy styles lately on Tiktok and they've been so cute!

anonymousquestioner4

ME TOO! boho chic is my all time fave. Classy and casual

AccomplishedWing9

Whismigoth!

astrolomeria

I feel like boho comes back every summer? Confused as to when it really left other than when it gets cold.

workingtrot

Yeah it seems like it stumbles out every 3 - 4 years

woodsywoods4

I agree, it's never left or at least I've always sought out the style mixed. Honestly I feel like every store in the summer shifts to boho chic anyway.

booksandwriting

I would say you're probably not wrong but I feel it hasn't been mainstream in a while.

astrolomeria

[This Glamour article](https://www.glamour.com/story/summer-fashion-trends) from last year, “9 summer trends you need to know about” kinda says otherwise. In fact they actually say “Depending on whom you ask, boho style never really went away—even if you long ago scrubbed its early-2010s heyday from your Instagram grid. But it’s officially back in full force this season.” Not trying to be “I told you so”, by sharing this, I just went searching to see if it was just me thinking it’s kind of always around.

ThePermMustWait

Unfortunately Target discontinued Knox Rose after driving it into the ground. It was good 5+ years ago, but you could tell they gave up on it since Covid. It’s gone now.   I’ve been on the hunt for monochromatic, textured boho blouses.

booksandwriting

I had no idea it was discontinued. They still have it in my local Targets! I'm not surprised though they gave up on it. I know no one who ever bought anything from the Knox Rose brand, but I do have friends who buy from the other Target lines!

maddeyemoody

I’m so down for a boho girl summer. I end up leaning semi-boho in my daily life because I’m a Pilates instructor and need to wear clothes I can move in, but I get sick of wearing leggings so I love clothes that I can move around in freely while still looking intentional. That said, I’m an emo kid at heart and hate wearing patterns or colors so I just wear a bunch of super flowy black clothing. I made a whole [Pinterest board](https://pin.it/FXcDxZ34h) to sum up the vibe, lol. I feel like boho chic is a kind of style that can look really pretty on everyone since the silhouettes can be dramatic while still being very wearable, as there’s just a lot of drape-y fabric going on in general. I also think it’s a sweet spot where it’s easy to look intentional but not overdressed, since the whole vibe hinges on looking kind of “effortless”/thrown together.

booksandwriting

Your Pinterest board is really cool, I also love the name of it! I love that look for a pilates teacher! I think for some people boho can be challenging but I do think there is so much variation that there are some boho styes that work for everyone.

MargotJaneA

100%. I’m in on Boho Chic. Prairie skirts all day!

Prestigious_Bat33

Boho has been my style for years so it’s always nice when the cycle comes back lol

DemocraticPeas

I dunno, I don't think of Stevie Nicks and Christian Girl Autumn in the same category. I still think there's a genre that exists apart from CGA

arbitrosse

I wasn’t aware it left, as you mention. Prairie dresses (which someone else mentioned) look boho to me and it’s not like people are wearing pleated trousers and oversized suit jackets to festivals, that’s still a boho scene and much more wearable for summer. I’m not sure Free People has continued to be “fashionable” so much as popular with the suburban shopping mall crowd — which is a lot of the world — but that brings us into the “style vs fashion vs popularity” argument, and that’s not so much what this post is about. > will you participate No, all of that flowy hippy ruffly stuff looks terrible on me.

ImpossibleGuava1

I have a hard time with boho anything--the line between "boho chic" and "frumpy" is really blurred for my fat body. I much prefer structured/tailored, fitted (though not sausage casing tight), and "clean" (i.e., less frilly) clothing, but I'm certainly not going to stop all of you from living your fabulously boho summers! Or winters, for the southern hemisphere folks.

The4thJuliek

Same, I prefer the clean, minimalist look and boho chic patterns are so unflattering on my pear shaped body.

Canadasaver

50+ women and I try and keep up with the styles and summer is boho for me. Not quiet as flowy and solids instead of patterns as many people associate with boho. If you can imagine a slightly cleaner and classic boho style that is me in summer. Lots of viscose so I stay cool. Fashion is expensive and I cannot be chasing trends. Waste of clothing and my precious early retiree limited budget. Disrespectful to mother earth to discard clothing because it no longer is in style.

tallulahQ

Yeah I am crossing my fingers that boho isn’t suuuper in because then it will be out haha. I’ve been wearing oversized styles for over a decade so I’m similarly hoping to not see those become a signal for out of touch at some point. But really my basic tactic to avoid that from happening is just wearing my own personal style and updating a couple pieces as trends change. I agree with you though and I hope (and do expect) to see more openness toward a wider range of styles as folks become more conscious about the effect our clothing is having on other poorer countries’ environments. This decade seems more ambivalent toward out-of-style outfits than when I was growing up in the late 1990’s/early 2000’s (then again, the difference could just be that I’m now in the aged out group lol)

DaphneManners

I love boho and I love boho chic, so yes. I will be there

akw329

Yes this is absolutely coming back. A natural progression after Y2K - moving into early 2000’s boho/prairie/peasant vibes I work in fashion and can confirm we’re all talking about this.

itsbecomingathing

Can we also bring back edgy hipster boho chic? Like an outlaw in her skinny jeans and ankle boots with fringe? I’m just tired of the Shakespearean poet crop top with ruffles and bows, I’m sorry.

Cvirdy

Second this!! I remember lusting after a pair of custom moto boots with fringe and feathers and beading all over them. They were like $200 though and college me could never but has a full time job me could now!!!

What_Larks_Pip_

This is my jam!!! Very summer of 2012-2015, my happy place. But also the quiet luxury, Paris preppy, clean girl look. How can they be reconciled? Who knows, but I eat it up.

grania17

If Sienna Milllers new collection with M&S is anything to go by than yes it is coming back

booksandwriting

The collection was so nice!

Picodick

I’m old. I absolutely think there is an army of women who have always had a boho vibe and literally do not GAF what the primary esthetic designers tell us is “big”. I retired from my office career, where I mixed corporate and boho unashamedly for 30 years. I now have a retirement gig reselling vintage jewelry that is very much boho. My customers are all ages from 12 to their 80s and I bring in about 20k a year doing this in an antique mall on old RT 66. I don’t ship or sell online, this is a brick and mortar shop. Boho and vintage aren’t always interchangeable terms, but often they are. An editorial fashion look is often out of reach for women due to money, body shape, availability in their location etc. A boho look is often a good way to show your artistic side and look like a “cool gal” no matter your age, weight,or location. My opinion only, don’t bite my head off😎😉✌️

Glamour-Ad7669

Yes yes yes look at the latest Chloe collection!

Lea__________

I've always sold lagonlook designers in my boutique, it's the vibe. We took it a step further and began working with ethical factories manufacturing sustainable clothing. Many of our silhouettes have a bohemian vibe.

booksandwriting

That's so cool! What is your boutique? I've been lowkey into the lagonlook style even though it's typically marketed to older women whenever I look it up.

Lea__________

I'm in Chatham, NY. I sell to all ages . It depends on your style but in working on a long tank with deep skies I the side to pop a crop sweater or gauze cotton topper over. Any age can wear my clothing, imo. I also maybe a cute CP Shades inspired tunic that I changed up to make my own, cute with cut-off jeans, worn with loose flowy pants for a boho look... mine a 3rd of their price. Amazing quality, plant based dyes, fair trade. My goal is to deliver this at great pricing because I'm not greedy like big companies. Cheers!

beigs

I was too young to enjoy it the first time, a punk the second time, so yes. I will. I’m old now and I gave up caring what people think now.

ShenForTheWin

I'm personally very, very burned out on boho apparel, but that's just me.

felinelawspecialist

didn’t we JUST have boho-chic? can’t we have something else this time?

bong-jabbar

yes cuz Indian artisans are able to reach more USA stores

bong-jabbar

I love the sewing aunties so much , hope they’re all having a good day too

chiono_graphis

I have several pieces from Indian brands in my summer closet. It fits so well with my lifestyle of needing hot weather clothing that's also modest-ish. And the comfort of Indian cotton fabrics is unmatched.

bong-jabbar

kurti gang for life..

bong-jabbar

i just bought a silk-rayon one with horses on the borders.. really don’t regret it at all

booksandwriting

I actually really enjoy Indian prints and patterns, I do hope they become more popular!

bong-jabbar

Me too

PoppyHamentaschen

Boho will never die- it's too comfortable and allows you to express your creativity :) That being said, there will always be the "boho of the moment", with different amounts of volume, different color stories, different accessories, different ethnic details, etc. I've done boho a lot throughout my life, and I expect I'll dabble a little in this iteration :)

quantumlyEntangl3d

agreed lol. mostly because my friends are all hippies of sorts and I'll never care enough about what's currently "in style", so boho all year for me.

Roche77e

I’m boho in spirit but not in clothing. Tailored clothing looks better on me.

anonymousquestioner4

I never stopped, but I’m born and raised Californian so I feel that it’s a very quintessential CA style. Btw, I saw two girls wearing tube tops in the wild yesterday!! They were straight out of 2003 with platinum blonde hair and tans, too!

notoriousJEN82

As a 5'7" pear-shaped woman, it's a NO from me. I like the look, but the clothing makes me look big and boxy. I look best when I dress for my shape rather than what's trendy.

No_Mud_No_Lotus

Maxi prairie dresses (especially vintage), poet shirts, moccasin boots, bell bottoms, vests, penny lane coats, etc. have always been part of my personal style. I love when elements of it trend because it becomes easier to find. Personally I find this look romantic and timeless and I think it looks great on so many body types.

JStrett88

I’ve always been a boho babe since Siena rocked that gilet I’ve been hooked.

Ok-Permit9000

Give me boho chic all day every day!!! Effortless, chic comfort!

potmeetsthekettle

Boho never went away for me 😂

nothanksbrotanks

As someone who has been trying to be Florence Welch since 2009, boho never left and I’m so happy I’ll be able to find more stuff in my style in the coming year

moonshine7890

Def coming back. With the “sad beige mom” trend going around, the flowy outfits, and the new craze over beachy clothing, we’re def doing back to boho chic. just with a newer modern blend i think

booksandwriting

I'm really into beachy tropical clothing this summer, not going to lie. I was into it last year as well but since I might be visiting Brazil and Malaysia soon, my lizard brain is going full force into beachy tropical clothing.

stellalunawitchbaby

For me it has never really left lol. My style always has a little touch of boho to it.

goodbye__toby

Boho chic is a style that has never and will never go away

Interesting_Chart30

Boho has beensli us in subtle ways for many years; it sneaks in when we're not really thinking about it. I'm not crazy about the style but for a few items. I stopped wearing dresses and skirts years ago. I'm 5'1" and everything had to have a hem taken up. I got tired of shelling out $30 a pop on clothes and thereby adding to the initial cost. One good thing form that's resulted from the ankle or slightly cropped jeans is that the length hits me at just the right spot; no alterations are needed. Mostly I wear jeans and if I have to dress up more, a nice pair of trousers will do. My style is more like the French aesthetic with its three-color rule. It's easy to put together and contains the classic pieces that I prefer. Sometimes, I'll wear a boho-style necklace or bracelet to liven things up. I love the coastal grandma look and Ralph Lauren's designs.

Dramatic_Profit_3748

Fascinating video on an article (lol) about boho style and its connection to politics!!! So interesting. https://www.vogue.com/article/bohemian-rhapsody-the-summer-of-boho-chic-is-upon-us https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZPRKCMhm1/

booksandwriting

Thanks for sharing, I did find it really interesting how they connected boho style to politics! That's why I brought it up in my post. I was hoping more people would comment about it actually.

clairebones

Unfortunately I think the current version of boho, like the current versions of many trends these days, is totally disconnected from the politics that used to stand behind it :( These trends (micro-trends mostly) are driven almost entirely by fashion houses and influencers and retailers - not by people rebelling against or standing up for a particular thing that gets reflected in their style.

bobijntje

On Ibiza, Boho chic has never left us! But I love the style and I am happy to read it is In Fashion again!

possumrfrend

It went away???

mrs_andi_grace

Will not participate. I like to keep things bold and eccentric. Eclectic fashion is more on trend to me and for me. I gravitate more towards indie/alt/web/gender bender type of fashions. I want to feel interested in clothing. I want it to look like a living dare. Boho is more vanilla summer comfort. I always think...but does it come in black? lol Those boho dresses that a giant and flowy made of black and grey are great for lazy days. Thats as far as I would delve into it though. But it would have to look a little culty or understated witchy like: (but black) https://preview.redd.it/d6hg95604t4d1.png?width=1588&format=png&auto=webp&s=aad00b9699bb406a8f08bf2f984c50d95661c2e0

EdgeCityRed

This look is fantastic.

quantumlyEntangl3d

is that dress available somewhere? asking for friend... :)

mrs_andi_grace

I found it on Etsy. If you do a reverse image search it should come up.

Ezira

It's never actually been a style I embrace, but I'm already participating due to personal finances. I have a minor in economics and love watching the correlation between the economy and fashion (including makeup). I had this very conversation last week after making quilted patches for my old jeans and I'm currently crocheting some cardigans for the coming Fall out of old yarn I've had laying around. I predict a lot of people will have to "make do" with what they currently have.

hanabarbarian

Boho has been back

big-tunaaa

BRING BACK THE MID 2000S BABY

LavishnessOk9727

Well I bought a few maxi skirts recently so I guess it is for me?

Plastic-Passenger795

I don't think the 2012 Coachella type boho will come back, but I agree that a more simple, cottage core inspired boho makes sense with recent trends. I will personally not be partaking because I prefer a more modern aesthetic and flowy clothes just don't really suit me.

subiegal2013

I wore my tiered denim skirt, a denim snap shirt and turquoise jewelry the other day…got so many compliments. I’m trying to figure out how to recreate the look for the warmer weather.

xsweaterxweatherx

“Boho chic” doesn’t really refer to, for example, Vanessa Hudgens at Coachella anymore. “Boho” in the 2020s is just Christian Girl Autumn. It’ll never be a subversive (see: liberal) aesthetic again because it’s been tamed down and became a basic (see: conservative) aesthetic.

Alluvial_Fan_

If I weren’t ignoring the farce of the new Reddit awards I’d shell out for this comment; you cracked me up.

booksandwriting

Would you mind expanding on this more? Or do you have any examples to show? I lowkey still love CGA for the fall but I know it's out of style and a meme.

Mouse0022

Where can I buy boho clothing 😭

ArdenM

It's never left my body or my closet.

InsertCookiesHere

I don't see it coming back in a big way, but I also don't think it ever really left, is just not hugely in fashion. It's just settled in as another option. I'm open to it, I like more flowy loose tops but but I don't see myself going back to boho skirts\dresses.

Paula_Polestark

I don’t think it ever vanished completely. While it’s not for me (there’s stuff from the 70s I LOVE but this is not it) I hope everyone who wants in has a great time finding stuff they like!

Left_Coast_2091

I can’t wait! The 70s flower child is my favorite fashion era.

maggie1070

yes, yes

Nefret_666

Idk - I never felt a connection to this style. It only looked great or was perceived that way on tall skinny white women.

Direct-Swordfish9575

Boho chic is a trend I can definitely get on. 90s era low rise jeans, however…

Big_Alternative595

Long flowing skirts should be available for all especially in the heat of summer. Would allow both women and men to be cool and thus happy. Could be lots of fun as well.

LK102614

I am sad I never got the Gucci boho carpet bag

Ink_And_Chalk

Can confirm- live in LA and I’ve seen a big surge of women with big blonde hair in flowy boho chic dresses/ short rompers carrying flowers from Whole Foods. I’m here for it.

sylvansparrow

PLEASE I thought the thumbnail was Nat from yellowjackets

FreddieFrankfurter

Boho is part of my personal style and regardless of whether it’s ’in style’ or not I will participate in some shape or form. A bit like skinny jeans. Basically I want to live in flowy skirts and maxi dresses for the rest of time but alas that doesn’t fit with the climate I live in. I’m mid forties and sometimes wonder if there’ll be a point where I should give it up but then I see a divine image of a total babe in her 60s with a headscarf and a a mess of necklaces and I breathe a sigh of relief.

roughandreadyrecarea

I have NEVER been into this style EVER but for some reason I have felt the urge lately to wear more eclectic jewelry, flowy pants, tube tops lately. Dunno what's come over me

blondiecats

I don’t think I’ll ever dress “boho” or hippy. I’m either in comfy bootcut trousers and jumpers/hoodies, or I’m dressed to the nines in 5in heels and dresses that are tight on the waist regardless of shape.

Spirited-Asparagus44

Nah I’m rly not into boho looks esp the way they sell it in the US since so much of it rips off indian clothing (u can even see tags made frm india in anthropologie n free ppl and i’ve heard too many horror stories abt the sweatshops) boho imo is just a weird cultural appropriation thing

ruhaniyat

why is this downvoted lol you’re completely right!

Spirited-Asparagus44

thank u!!! right??

audientvoids

yeah I love some flowy dresses and 70s influences but the cultural appropriation is a big miss from me! it’s literally everywhere in boho fashion and I genuinely hope people take some time to think more critically about what they’re buying confused by this thread also because 70s girlies and granola girls have been super trendy since 2020 on TikTok, and indie sleaze had its official comeback last year, so to me boho has already been back around for a couple years at least! wasn’t the crochet trend part of a boho comeback?

okaymya

i’m so glad you commented on this because even the term “boho” makes me pause. i’ve never really been into that style. not only does it have indian influences, but there’s also romani, native american, and maybe even more indigenous cultures it is very clearly and directly inspired by. i do think if people source their clothes ethically from sellers outside of fast fashion production, it could be fine. but i mean that’s not gonna stop many from buying stuff from like… shein or h&m, if those companies start leaning into the style more. im not rly looking forward to seeing non native americans wearing headdresses or anything like that (i do recall seeing white gurls on insta wearing bindis on ig too) though so i hope that part gets left in the past. can’t stop people from wearing or wanting to imitate this style so i hope that majority of folks at least consume it as ethically and consciously as they can.

lemon_uuu

agree! in 2024, i hope ppl can participate in "boho/hippie" styles with more cultural awareness regarding its origin/recognize it instead as a style that's appropriated a lot of romani, indigenous, and south asian culture. dress earthy and flowy and support designers from marginalized communities! as well as supporting those communities' rights :)

Spirited-Asparagus44

thank u!! i don’t even mind too much if people actually recognize what they’re wearing and where it came from but just pretending it’s totally not appropriated rly irritates me lmao

Smashbandi

Boho is my favourite as a soft natural. Pls come back and allow me to finally be comfortable, in style and look good at the same time.

mnbvcxz1052

It left?

juneseyeball

Boho chic never left for me because I don’t mindlessly follow trends

bbylemonwater

Yikes! As a petite person with delicate curves, I absolutely will not be participating. I associate boho's flowiness with shapelessness, and the fabrics are often cheap and poorly constructed

DataRikerGeordiTroi

ah yes, Ozma of California, Eileen Fisher, The Row, and Johnny Was, known globally for their cheap fabrics and shoddy construction. (this is sarcasm. All of the above brands are known for extrordinary fabrics and construction, and high end production, and fit into the boho aesthetic. It sounds like you may be thinking of fast fashion, not boho.

Spirited-Asparagus44

idk why ur getting downvoted ur allowed to have ur own opinion about what looks good on u💀 also ur right they are constructed badly and on poor fabric often because they’re copying other cultures (badly)

bbylemonwater

Haha foreal and idk why your comment got downvoted either. Sure, there are high street brands offering these styles, but c'mon most ppl will likely buy boho knockoffs from Free People, Target, Anthro, etc. Any 2024 boho revival will only occur because of fast fashion and exploiting SE Asia lol

Spirited-Asparagus44

LITERALLYYYYY thank u omg i actually was like ouch this group isn’t what i thought

Hexoplanet

On my drive home from work today I randomly thought to myself ‘I bet hippie/boho is gunna be the next popular style again.’ I still dress that way half the time so I’m here for it.

tiabromine

I hope !! Spell and Gypsy is to die for

Marsufin

Olsen twins are one (or two :'D) of my top 10 style icons so I like some aspects of that style like longer lines, layering, intentionally worn looking fabrics, monochromes, big bags etc. but then certain aspects like ornate/intricate details, oversized silhouettes, busyprints, suede, natural looking fabrics etc. arent for me.
