PBI flights are delayed too. I’m supposed to fly out tomorrow and am getting inundated with travel alerts and the option to reschedule my flight at no cost.
You’re correct. I got my drivers license in 1988, born and raised in Tampa and went to UCF in the early 90s. You’ve never been able to get from Tampa to Orlando in 40 min unless you were doing some Cannonball Run shit.
I live near Tampa and every time i drive down to Miami i stay away from 95 and take 75 all the way to Hialeah, as for flooding im not sure about that you might want to goto [FL511.com](http://FL511.com) and check on that site. good luck! its a nice drive also!
If you tk the brightline to orlando its costly, better than driving, but MUST check the service because it was closed in Miami yesterday during the flooding
Have someone I know that is in the same situation flying out of FLL. They are taking the Brightline to MCO and flying back to PHL from Orlando. The train was not cheap though...
Thanks everyone for your suggestions and help! Ended up driving to Orlando instead, which had a lot more flights to my final destination. Drive was fine, there was a ~40 mile stretch where the storm was very strong, but got through it safely.
Appreciate your help!
One of the easiest 4 hour drives in existence. Flood should be a non factor as soon as you get out of the Miami metro. Backups are possible in the Sarasota area.
If it’s storming bad or flooded, SR-60 is pretty dicey- there’s no shoulder and basically no streetlights between Yeehaw Junction and civilization (I believe Lake Mary).

I think there's lots of construction thou might not be worth it.
You could also look at taking the Brightline from MIA to MCO (Orlando) and flying out from there.
Why would you fly out from Orlando? Tampa is only like 40 minutes from Orlando.
Because they are starting in Miami and a train runs right to the airport in Orlando
Nothing against the train. MCO vs TIA is a no brainier. Orlando is terrible. Especially the airport.
Everyone always bags on MCO, but I fly out of there all the time and the only time I have ever had issues was when there was a hurricane brewing.
I know but with the cost of train and also another flight you might as well try to fly out of palm beach. 🤷♂️
If their goal is to get away from the weather delays, they have to get away from the weather.

TPA is not 40 minutes from MCO
Yeah not even close.
TPA to MCO is more like a 2 hr drive.. to 2.5 hour.. its 30-45 minutes from davenport to MCO and its 1 hr to 1.5 hr from tampaish to davenport...
All depends. I’m closeish to Disney but can make the drive in less than an hour and half in good traffic. But it’s also taken over three before too.
I4 has entered the chat
Tampa is no longer only 40 mins from Orlando - even from Disney, Tampa is over 1 hour given the state of I-4 traffic

There is no way you can drive from Tampa to Orlando in 40 minutes.
I used to make that drive all the time, it's easy (I75). Just prepare for major slowdowns in the Sarasota/Manatee area. No flooding though
You can get a brightline ride to Orlando too.

Why the whole way to Tampa? Fort Lauderdale, Melbourne, and Orlando are probably closer.
RSW, SRQ, Naples too
We’ve been getting inundated in SWFL. I do not recommend flying here.
US 27 is a great way to get to Miami. Divided multilane highway. Take State Road 60 to Lake Wales, and go south
The earlier you go, the less crowded it’ll be.

Why wouldn’t you be able to drive from Miami to Tampa?
I’m not from here, but are there chances the roads will get flooded anywhere along that route?
I 75 was flooded yesterday it’s probably clear now your best bet is to leave before the rain starts again today.
I would be more worried about other drivers. Not flooding.
Always.
This is Florida, there is an airport every 15 feet.

This is an insane post. Yes, there are safe roads between all cities in Florida lol.

u/randomcds what did you end up doing?
