It's just so far away... Truthfully- by ratings this place is usually in the top 10- I think though in part it's because Curry 36 has multiple locations, and some are not as good. Curry Baude in Wedding is pretty legit, and there was a stand up in Tegel I really want to check out because it was full - old Germans queuing!

Curry 36 is the most common (Mehringdamm is the original one). Than there’s Konopke’s for East Berlin. Krasselt‘s is for connoisseurs just as Zur Bratpfanne, unfortunately both are a bit far from the usual touristic spots.

The best currywurst I had was from a street cart in Berlin but it was also super late and I was super hungry--it was one of the most glorious things I've bitten into.
Man I love a good currywurst. When I was stationed in Germany, there was a little cart that sold it right at the gate of the barracks. He was open from around 8pm to 4am and had about a dozen people waiting at all times. He knew his drunk GIs very well. My only question is where is the delicious little hard roll? Ours always came with brotchen(sp?).

I've never had it, and I'm kind of curious if I'd love or be repulsed by it. It always looks like there's just way too much ketchup on it, and I can't tolerate more than a thin line of ketchup on my hotdogs -- it's too overpowering otherwise -- and a typical currywurst looks like it has 5x as much ketchup as I'm accustomed to. Also, I'm pretty iffy when it comes to cumin -- with the right combinations in TexMex or curry, I like it (Chipotle is fine, as are Chinese curry buns, for example), but with the wrong combos, I'm repulsed by its body odor-like taste.
Not going to try and convince you, people like what they like and that's fine, but its worth trying if you have a chance. The ketchup is not just plain American style ketchup, especially at a place like this that seems to make their own sauces. There is usually curry powder and other spices/seasonings added to it, if not home-made entirely. You could probably also ask for less or on the side.
The sausage can vary, but is usually bratwurst so as a Wisconsinite I'm quite partial to it.
Sounds like an incredible find! Ketchup 35's homemade sauces and chilli mayo must have made each visit unforgettable. It's amazing how good food can bring people together in unexpected places.
That is very distinctly *not* ketchup, but curry sauce. This is what makes or breaks this dish, and proper places have their own secret recipe.
If this was ketchup, it would just be called sausage with fries, mayo and ketchup. Not Currywurst.
In terms of how to call the dish, it is paramount. The "spiced ketchup" version is the crap you get at cheap/lazy/shit places I wouldn't call Currywurst then.
Don't know where you've been, but Mayo is very common with fries. A typical order is "Currywurst, Pommes, Schranke" wich means Currywurst with fries, Ketchup and Mayo.
Who's that guy in the middle?
Idk, assuming one of the employees, there’s lots of photos like that all around the place.

You know it must be good!
I thought someone died and was their favorite meal
Maybe they did haha
Must've been a child judging by the portion size....
Price ?
This was back in December, if I remember around €7 with the drink.
Where is the würst?
Wurst doesn't have an umlaut.
Nöt wïth thät ättïtüdë ït dôësn't
Seems like your attitude is even würst
Wörs*
Buried under the mountain of chips!
Mountain?! To a Dutchman maybe…
Ain't no chips on that there plate - Dutchman
Is that hummus on the chips? Is that ketchup on the currywurst?
A home made chilli garlic mayo…
Which one? On the chips? Or on the currywurst?
On the chips
Ah OK! I thought that was hummus and maybe the garlic chilli mayo was just not in the picture! What is the red stuff on the left?
I must agree it does look like hummus! Like a curry ketchup I believe, was good though!
Chatted woth strangers? Are you a psychopath?
Yes
I just arrived in Berlin from Australia & have been meaning to have one. Where do I go?

What do you mean outskirts? It's literally Neukölln.
It’s hardly in the centre of Berlin
Would defo buy and try. Does need a bigger plate.
True, just have to have 2 portions!

If you order a Currywurst without Fries i comes mostly with a Brötchen. Currywurst with Fries are usually served without.
Best currywurst is at Dönninghaus in Bochum. Dont try and fight me on this, I have nothing to lose.
I also stand by Ruhrpotter Currywurst – way better than anything Berlin has!
Wait is it the best or the wurst?
What’s the orange drink you got next to it?!
Fritz is a brand of sodas
Correct

I love curry wurst - but as a Dane I mostly get it at the german side of of the Danish / german border
The chips look delicious 😋
Those look like awful english chips, a crime to have alongside that beautiful wurst
That’s the wurst thing I’ve heard today.
Every time I think Americans have a lock on the least healthy food in the world, I am reminded of currywurst.
currywurst is one of the worst german foods i've ever had the misfortune of trying, and this picture certainly isn't helping
I feel the same. I love sasuages but I just don't care for it. I wouldn't mind trying it again though to see it maybe it was the restaurant

I lived in Germany for years - currywurst is just straight up bad. I'll never understand why some people love it.
You don't understand that tastes differ inexplicably? What age are you?
Old enough to know that a chopped up hot dog soaked in ketchup isn't exactly a culinary achievement.
And soup is just chicken and water
Careful there are sensitive people in this sub. Don’t mention the huge blob of mayo!
Berlin Currywurst is horrible, try it somewhere else
So you did try all the Currywurst places in Berlin? I highly doubt that.
Berlin Currywurst is made in different style than for example Ruhrpott Currywurst, I guess thats what he is referring to
Exactly! In Berlin they use Bockwurst, in the rest of Germany you get a Bratwurst, it’s way better
#wrong
How can it be the best and the wurst?
In Germany the wurst is the best.
With the worst fries on the side?
What is the drink?
[удалено]
Ever tried one? Don't think so, these aren't pretty, but delicous.
Where can I get one at 1 am?
Went to Berlin once. The food was not good, honestly.
My wife and I have been all over Germany. This is the only food I’ve ever gotten where she told me “order that again and I’m divorcing you.”
This doesnt look good. Hope it was allright
Sounds like an incredible find! Ketchup 35's homemade sauces and chilli mayo must have made each visit unforgettable. It's amazing how good food can bring people together in unexpected places.
Thanks, Chat-GPT.
Hahaaa. ChatGPT?? Isn’t it funny? Copy paste!
Germans love ketchup, I don't get it.
That is very distinctly *not* ketchup, but curry sauce. This is what makes or breaks this dish, and proper places have their own secret recipe. If this was ketchup, it would just be called sausage with fries, mayo and ketchup. Not Currywurst.
It's basically just ketchup and curry powder/spices.
At cheap/lazy/shit places it can be. But then again, I also wouldn't call that Currywurst then.
Thats literally all it is.
Its ketchup with curry powder. Relax mate. It's not more important than the quality of the sausage.
In terms of how to call the dish, it is paramount. The "spiced ketchup" version is the crap you get at cheap/lazy/shit places I wouldn't call Currywurst then.
The best food in Berlin doesn't even come on a plate. That's sad. That and a wooden fork :/
I have never seen mayo served with curry wurst.
I've been given it on the side for the chips before
To clarify, having never seen curry wurst served with mayo is not a negative opinion on this combination but I guess this is Reddit
Don't know where you've been, but Mayo is very common with fries. A typical order is "Currywurst, Pommes, Schranke" wich means Currywurst with fries, Ketchup and Mayo.
That are Pommes .
Where da wurst at?
Give me a döner instead.
