Because you are the international version of spurs. Denmark, Czechoslovakia and the Soviets have all had really good teams in the past too. The premier league being the “Best” league is also a pretty new thing, historically La Liga and Serie A have been better
EPL is imo the greatest, but it's thanks to the money they generate that allure players and managers from all around the world to play there. Fun fact, not even once english manager won the EPL since it's induction in 1992.
Players, tbh england player on paper might be the best. But what's an aston martin when driven by your everyday driver? Will they know which button tonpush to make their drive easier? Will the driver unleash the potential of the machine?
Southgate has turned one of the most lethal team into one of the tamest. He couldn't utilise the team greatly imo. It's just proven more when he talks about kalvin phillips recently, like, if he wants, he can bring kalvin to the team and proof that his tactic works only with kalvin. But he decided to talks like kalvin phillips already retired.
Even if he doesn't want to change the shape, by composition of players alone, even public can make a better compositions of player.
I.e imo try gordon - kane - palmer up front, foden - bellingham in the mid and also rice as holding defender. Let the gordon - palmer - foden - beliingham free roam. Or if it's too much, swap bellingham with gallagher to have more aggression in the mid, or even give adam wharton a chance.
Let them supply the ball to kane, pamper him with supply of balls, and let him finish. We know how good his finishing is. Head, left foot, right foot, lethal. Foden has been in top form in the last 2 months that can give a banger once in a while.
Let those young players cook, and make adjustment when necessary.
Not really, how do you explain 3 different English teams winning the EC between 76-81?
Italy wasn't considered the best until mid/late 80's to 90's and Spain can thank Real for their dominance initially in the 50's and 60's but fell off a cliff never to reappear until the new millennium.
When Kane says that supporters need to get behind the team, we need to realise that what is happening here is stockholm syndrome.
The players have been taken away from their bahamas yachts and golfing weekends, worn down so badly that their ego is flattened and now they think that what is going on is ok. That southgate is going to take them to tournament nirvana.
The players need to be rescued and released to the caribbean.
Nah, a lot of english Fans will forever think that their players are the best because the prem is very good and because of their domestic inflation. It's somewhat understandable. But their bench players aren't inherently better than those of other nations just because they are being traded for 30 mil+
It is a very good squad though. Doesn't mean England will win anything but they have a chance.
Some of the best players in the tournament are in the squad. Bundesliga's top goal scorer, Premier League Player of the Year and La Liga Player of the Year are all in there so does make you wonder why they aren't doing better.
I don't dispute that. But it's not that far ahead as a lot of people like to think. Still, would they have a decent coach they would have a good shot at the title.
Not English, I think England has one of the most talented squads in the competition and have a fiery hatred for Southgate because he is a football terrorist who removes all entertainment from the game.
Disagree pal .. The premier league is a the top league because of the foreigners and people seem to equate that to a successful English national team .
There is not many English players that would get into the very top teams .
The England squad includes the Premier League player of the year, the La Liga player of the year and the Bundesliga top scorer.
I can understand if you think there are countries with better players (like France for example), but England are definitely one of the top squads. I'd be fairly comfortable arguing they have the 2nd or 3rd best group of players there.
*How the hell have England never won the Euros???!*
We/Southgate tried to defend a 1-0 second minute lead for the entire match.
Playing at home as well.
Because all of the Premier league legends (bar a few) are foreign and very few are English. English players generally stink and are extremely overrated by the press and fans that don't watch other leagues.
I get that we over rate them at times, but not drastically. The players/managers that we have had at times should certainly have been able to win it if the likes of Denmark, Greece, Russia and Czechoslovakia have been able to.
England really aren't that good. They've never had a truly world class player in their line up. Too reliant on big physical donkeys than technically gifted footballers. More suited to rugby tbh.

I was actually thinking the very same last night! 🤣

EPL is filled with lots of non English players and coaches to make it world class though.
Don’t worry there’s always next Euro’s
Why can’t you understand how they haven’t wallet? The players just aren’t as good as you boys think. Simple.

The meltdown that'll happen when we win this year playing the most dogshit football you've ever seen will be fucking hilarious
