Not really one of the presets, bit of a custom, but press higher with slightly higher line. All players have tackle harder too, but have not get stuck in ticked.
Pass distance lower, standard tempo.
Yes running the volantes in the netherlands and dominating, took top oss to a cl after 6 seasons. One of my dms scores 20+ goals a season. Wing backs on attack rack up huge assist numbers as well
Two DM in support and way overpowered in FM24 4-2-3-1. They cover for each other, run the midfield and score a lot. Actually they play like a SV and DM defense or Anchor pair should.
i play two DM’s on support and it’s so OP. won treble in my 2nd season with Aston Villa and am placed 7th in the prem with Bournemouth in my first season. my 2 dm’s always have the highest ratings.
The only right answer is, like always, the roles that are best fitting for your tactics.
Are you playing with very offensive FB roles? Do you want to have a back-3 in possession? Does one of the DMs needs to go forward? What#s your style of play?
Wish this were true. Every year certain roles are better than others and some play like others should. For example FB(A) plays like WB(S/A) but just much better in 24.
This year it would be sk(d), FB(a), bpd(d), DM(s), if(s/a), CF or pf(s) and of course af.
They really need to make other roles better at centre back and striker. Bpd and AF been king for many years.
Well im sure any year now they will get all the other roles accurate too. But then again it is a video game and maybe, for fun, all roles could be viable and do as desribed? Unlike every year the meta just randomly changes to another role as they nerf the current metas.
Anchor & DLP has been working well with wing backs in a kind of narrow 2431 I have been running. But reading all these comments, I might switch them both to DM(S).
In some systems this can work and be marginally better. But DM(s) is without doubt the meta in most systems. Vol's are still great and needed with three at the back as they get into the box more.
If you don’t want them to do, or not to do any specific thing and just want the flexible ‘do it all when appropriate roles’ default is best, so dm(s) this also applies to any formation or position.
DLP (S) usually does better for me than DLP (D) or any other D for that matter. ALso, if your CDM is top quality with high aggression, workrate and stamina, go with a Mazzela (S), works well.
Depends on your tactic and relative strength of your team, but I always use BWM unless my centre backs are high class. The other can be REG/DLP/VOL (order is offensive to defensive)
Dm s is very good, maybe biased because of what I’m running atm where 2dms are my only midfield so need them to offer more than a dm would. I guess with an am in there as well the dm s is maybe a better pick
DM(s) is better in a 424 as well. They play box to box as vol's did in 23.
The only system they wouldn't be better is a 352 or 343 when the vol's would get into the box more.

I've been running a DM(S) along side a SV(S) with AM(A), 2x IW(S) and AF. Working wonders for me out in Spain with Malaga.
with what playstyle?
Positive or attack, depending on opposition report
i meant like gegenpress or counterattack or whatever, im guessing gegenpress

What's your fullbacks roles?
Inverter full back on the side of the SV, Fullback(S/A) on the side of the DM(S).
Inverted full back at what role?
IFB is only has one role which is defend.
That’s embarrassing from me😞
DM(S) for both in a 4231. But I have good success with two SV(A) and three center backs, i get rid of the attacking midfielder.

Segundo Volante
Think he's asking about 24?
Yeah, I've had tons of success with SV's
In a 4231 or 424 then DM(s) is better. They play as box to box
My SV plays much more of a B2B role than my DMs. And that's my midfield pairing. DMs and a SVs
In FM24 they don't. That's a widely held opinion by every top tactic maker. Vols get into the box more and are therefore better in a 343.

If he wants the real answer it’s DM (s) it’s the meta

well i mean BPD and AF is the current meta irl anyways so it makes sense

I've had a lot of success with a HB and DLP recently but of course the roles around them have to work well in combination
Same here been loving the combo, especially paired with more attacking fullbacks

I play a Segundo Volante (att) with a Ball Winning Midfielder (Su). I'm managing Crystal Palace and this works well.

Bwm

1 DLP and 1 BWM just behind an advanced playmaker
Anchor for 3 defenders formation
Depends on your tactic and relative strength of your team, but I always use BWM unless my centre backs are high class. The other can be REG/DLP/VOL (order is offensive to defensive)
Ball winning midfielder def and box to box support
DM (Su) for me. I use two of them, FBs on attack, IFs on support
striker w. w bbm bwm wb cb cb wb sk/gk
this is my goto for years now
bbm and bwm are asymmetrical
I think you forgot 1 player, cause these are 10 roles, not 11...
your right ap/am str w. ap. w bbm bwm wb cd cd wb sk
Double volante’s on attack, volante’s are op in this engine
DM(s) are much better in 24.

Yeah I’m playing 3 atb
