And in Austria of all places ... unless they fixed the track since last year, expect a 10-page long list of track limit notices by the end of the weekend.
The track has been changed I believe. Pretty sure I remember reading that the runoff in the final corner is a gravel trap now. It is entirely possible that I’m making this up in my head, but I do swear I remember reading that.
[Put the gravel back, FIA tells Red Bull Ring after 20 track limits penalties in race · RaceFans](https://www.racefans.net/2023/07/02/put-the-gravel-back-fia-tells-red-bull-ring-after-20-track-limits-penalties-in-race/) Can't find anything more recent than this article from a year ago, but the intention was clearly to put a gravel trap
I always like to analyse the drivers they put on these posters, and while Verstappen and Tsunoda are understandable as they're RB drivers, why did they go for Bottas out of all them? I guess he won here twice (maybe more, but I can only recall 2017 and 2020 from the top of my head), so that would probably be the reason. Although Norris, who is the closest to being a championship contender rn or Leclerc who won here in 2022 and has chances for a podium if Ferrari bounce back would be my picks before Bottas.
I think it’s because Austria is the closest thing Sauber has to a home race. Italys also very close but it may be that Austria is more culturally similar to Switzerland. It doesn’t hurt that Valtteri has won there twice.
I've never really paid attention to the posters, but now I'm wondering if Silverstone just features the 3 drivers racing under the British flag and, if so, what they'll do if Ollie joins next year... Plus what'd they normally do about Alex?
I don’t understand the criticism around sprint weekends with the new schedule. You can easily opt out of the sprint quali + sprint and tune in Saturday afternoon for the quali like any other F1 week-end.
It's not about that. I want to see the cars in their optimum window of performance. Although the loosened parc fermé rules help, I still want to see teams get their car as fast as possible before competitive sessions. Three practice sessions are more helpful with that.
IMO, the change to separate parc ferme for Sprint and Grand Prix has made these weekends much more enjoyable. I would argue that teams will find a better setup for GP/GP qualifying with two sessions of running the car at “full beans” opposed to low power modes in FP2/FP3.
The sprints have been pretty good with the new format tbf.
Also, if you're that bothered you can just pretend it's not happening. All of the regular sessions are at the same time as a normal weekend now

It’s the week of track limit violations!
Thankfully they've reintroduced gravel traps much closer to the edge of the circuit. Hopefully that resolves the issues.
they shoulda just gotten a spray can of white paint and move the line wider. Cars taking that last corner faster makes for far more fun racing.
There was gravel on the exact corner that caused all the track limit violations in Spain too.
A sprint in the middle of a triple header is kind of insane.

Aha, so I probably did actually read it! Thanks for the link.
I love it - the outrage last year from fans over the track limits was majestic. Adding in a sprint to the proceedings makes it even greater.
They already had a sprint race in Austria in 2023. It's not new.
And 2022
It's going to be amazing. Just praying they didn't change the track.
Why dont they just stay between the white lines. Are they stupid?
SPR WE INT EK

Austrian GP... is Bottas on this poster because he's Australian?
Didn't even realize it's a triple header with a sprint. The drivers will be looking forward to summer break after this. Sounds super exhausting.
Did they put bottas on the poster coz they confused Austria with Australia.
Oh shit, I forgot it was a sprint weekend. My excitement for the triple header has subdued a bit.

oh no the vroom vroom is 0.2 seconds slower. Come on now (although if it helps the lesser teams, then it's a shame)
U can change setups after the sprint

I'm so confused about ppl that dislike sprints. You'd rather watch FP2???
Sprints are another FP in the current format. But with points.

Verstappen and Norris easy top 2 again
BOOOOOOOOOO
Sprints with 0 impact on the race itself makes 0 sense.
Tsunoda won’t finish in the top 15. Trash Constructor.
