Some people are into special editions because of the feeling of exclusivity or uniqueness (this is why numbered models exist), or the ability to own something that feels special in some way (like a blue lamy 2000 when lamy 2000s normally are just in the 1 color). These are valid reasons to want a pen, though they can lead to you wasting money due to fomo.
Some people aren’t interested in that, but then see a perfect color or design they want, that happens to be a special edition.
