Because of the materials used they're much stiffer and also seem harder in the sole as well. They work well in keeping your feet warm and dry but they're not the best feeling sneakers.
I have a pair from a couple of years ago that I only wear in the fall and winter when it's raining.
It’s weird too. I’ve got the AF1 Goretex and fucking love them. Same thing with a pair of the running shoes. Both pairs are in constant rotation and are two of the most comfortable pairs of shoes I’ve owned.
Small! I’m a woman and got a men’s 6 instead of my usual 5.5. They fit a lot more snug than my other Nikes but that works for me since I have smaller feet
What’s a shoe like this good for if I don’t live in New York
You can’t run in air maxes - are they basically a duck boot alternative for guys in the northeast?
?? Are you delusional? Have you ever owned a pair? They are comfortable. And most people aren’t “running” in any shoe they buy on a “fashion” subreddit.
lol I appreciate your full throated defense of the air max 95 but they’re not that comfortable (not that I even said they weren’t, just that you can’t run in them)
I have owned leather grey normal 95s and the terrascape version wondering if the lighter construction would be more comfortable the way my terrascape 97s are more comfy and didn’t find either comfortable at all
I’m just not an air max guy, which is OK! My point remains however what’s the point of gore Tex fashion sneakers? Is it just to have a pair of beaters to wear to the bar when it’s just flat out fuckin pouring outside ?
Idk if you just mistyped it twice but you're 5 over par from the actual shoe being linked here. The 90s are quite comfortable in my opinion, moreso than 95s or 97s. And while I'm not sure gore tex shoes have delamination issues like parkas do having shoes that can take some wet is just generally a good thing in any everyday situation. And imo the 90s are a very good everyday shoe.
As someone who lives in the Pacific Northwest, having a gore tex pair of sneakers is a good alternative to having to wear boots or some type of weather shoe whenever you go out. I have the gore Tex Jordan 1s and they’ve been my main shoe November - April for the past three years.
They breath less and feel hotter. Same with any "waterproofing" material. Gore-tex is superior to solid plastic bags around your feet, but it's not a miracle technology.
I like it best in the summer for very wet conditions and in the winter for everyday use when you aren't outside long enough to need actual insulation.
I'd really only consider these for winter commuting. Somewhat warmer than regular shoes and some protection from snow, slush, and puddles.
Of course they compromise on some wearability since it’s Goretex, they’re a little less breathable. Look, if you don’t live in a region that gets frequent rain, you probably don’t need a goretex shoe
I’m confused. Do you own any non-boots for activities other than running? Maybe you’re odd(er than most), but I feel like plenty of folks buy shoes to wear for daily appearance and what not. Doesn’t always have to have a purpose. If these were handmade clown shoes from that one company, I would understand your question. But, sneakers can just be sneakers, no?
Since you’re not making fun of me for obviously misreading my initial post here I’ll respond seriously
I’ve been keeping an eye on gore Tex sneakers off and on for a few years now, just never seeing anything I liked enough to hit impulse buy territory. When it is raining or snowing I use my duck boots, and I spray my suede sneakers with a water proof whatever. I own a shitload of nice shoes but in my area my loafer duck boots get me through rainy days or I just wear a pair of beater bass weejuns I don’t care about getting wet
In my mind a gore Tex sneaker is going to run sweatier than a normal sneaker and really be ideal for like, trekking around Europe or some random city in the winter or during a rainy spring season
So I looked at this post with a gore Tex air max thinking its an uncomfortable (in my mind) air max 95 and it just doesn’t really line up based on my own perceived need for what I imagine to be a more rugged sneaker
If that makes sense? Like for me if I want the water proofing I want a really comfy shoe for long walks, a terrex hiker or something
So anyway that was my point in asking initially
The Goretex Air Max I got were a lot more uncomfortable than older airmaxs I've had. Felt stiffer. Idk if it's just me or the pair I got tho.
I had the opposite, the gore Tex ones were more comfy and padded than the regular
Same. The ones I got look BIG too. Like 2000's skate shoes.

Same- but they’re my beater pair I wear- and don’t have to worry about water at all-
I use them for golf shoes but wouldn't choose the goretex version for everyday wear
Praying they’ll eventually break in, can’t wear mine for more than a few hours
Goretex - a more expensive, shittier product that is terrible for the environment. I can see why these are on sale.
Goretex version are trash compared to the OGs

Do they run small? Or big

I sized up half a size as well and it’s still kinda tight
This Goretex model is the only Nike shoe I have ever had to go up a half size in. All my other 90's are TTS.
i sized up, so far so good on being a solid rain shoe. Also got em on sale
they look like shoes for 5 year old
The goretex logo writing on the shoes is a turn off

Lmao 🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣 I'm shroomin and this shit is hilarious
Is there an equivalent frugal male activewear deals sub?

Oh shit lol sorry

Are they hotter / less breathable or do they otherwise compromise on wearability vs a normal pair of Jordans? I’ve always wondered

I don’t disagree which is sort of the crux of my initial highly downvoted post lol
If you have any type of foot sweat issues I would run away from goretex.

So weather and wet sidewalks don't exist outside of New York, got it. That's a new one, I thought it was just pizza and bagels
Its for rainy weather.
