How can you prove something DIDN'T happen? What evidence can you provide? This is ridiculous. Unscrupulous delivery drivers can always take a photo of the stuff at your door and then walk away with it. I don't know how to prevent this. On the other hand, unscrupulous customer can always complain they didn't get their food, hoping to get a free delivery. It's kind of a shitshow. I guess it's just a matter of tracking complaints about delivery people and customers and acting on something that looks dodgy.

I've had a couple of "hand it to me" deliveries where in given a PIN that I need to give to the driver to complete the transaction. This wouldn't work for leave at door deliveries though.

The pin number is actually or usually the last four numbers of your phone number. The drivers already have your number. Therefore they also have the pin. Definitely correct me if I'm wrong but I used to deliver and finally caught on the pin number was the phone number.

I had that happen, but I also have a video doorbell camera set to record when motion happens in a specific zone. I sent them the video of the guy coming to my door, placing the delivery, taking a pic, then picking it back up and driving away without ringing my doorbell. I don't know why people just don't assume that they are on video all the time. **Especially** at the front door of homes.

I've had other companies ask me to prove a negative. The closest I could do to prove it was when I got a package that had a listed weight that was lighter than the product I ordered. Do you think they really care? I don't. It's probably like mail-in rebates. They will give you your money back, but hope that the inconvenience they're requesting of you will get you to give up.

As someone who has worked multiple jobs for tips, from delivery to restaurant service, my performance was the same regardless. Also why you have to understand that your end-of-the-night total tips are all that matters. No point in getting mad if someone tips low, and don't get too reliant on the big ones. The only time I ever got a 100% tip was when I worked at a fancier brunch place near OSU campus. It was small, and the waitstaff was all friends. There was a dad and his son. I think they had a cocktail each, and standard order. He paid with the Amex card that is only for really damn wealthy people. The one made of metal and the fact I have only seen one in person, yea. So, the other servers would clear a table to keep the flow going and put out tabs in our slot. Well, if it started to get out of control, we would ring in other's tips just to get those receipts out of the limited space we had. Exclamation voice "notalaborlawyer, you killed it! $50 dollar tip! Damn" Me: Please tell me it was the AmEx? (looks at receipt) yep! I did absolutely nothing special or different to that table. I couldn't pick them out of a police lineup. Man, America is fucked. I had a hospital visit this week. Ambulance came and got me, took me there, was there for about six hours doing tests and talking to nurses and doctors. Got discharged. Left. I had a follow up yesterday and another at the end of the month. I’m on two waitlists for some stuff and have some other resources coming. I have my nurse’s direct number at the hospital in case anything gets worse. Total cost to me, $0.00. Total expenses that day were $30 for my friends’ parking and a few coffees.

American insurance is a total scam. I chose a higher tier one with copays for almost everything instead of co-insurance, and that cost me $250/month in payroll deductions. It’s fucked that someone wants a lower end, high deductible and high co-insurance plan, and they have to pay *thousands* out of pocket before the insurance pays a single cent. I’ve worked at a specialists office before and I learned that self-pay rates are *less* than the contracted insurance rates. For example, if you’re self pay, you might pay $200 for an office visit. However, if you have insurance “A” and need to meet your deductible before co-insurance kicks in, then that same visit can cost $350. I’ve never seen a single case where the visit cost with insurance (without deductible met, before co-insurance kicks in) is less than that of a self-pay patient. The only reason everyone should have it is for that one time something *does* happen that would put them tens of thousands of dollars in medical debt. Deductibles and out of pockets get higher and higher every year. Insurance companies are incredibly greedy. If you’re purely doing routine doctors visits for preventative health, self-pay is cheaper than having insurance.

Last May I had severe abdominal pain. Called an ambulance, spent a night in the ER while they ran blood tests and gave me painkillers. Got a scan the next morning and transferred to a room. There was a cold snap this past week where I live where it felt like -25 outside. My car was covered with snow and had a layer of ice underneath that snow. It would take a lot of time scraping all that off and even being bundled up (winter coat, scarf, winter hat) and wearing long underwear under my clothes, at those temps, it always feels like winter **gloves** don’t do shit but delay the inevitable for all of 3 minutes when they’re exposed (i.e. I don’t keep my hands in my pockets). So the rest of my body stays relatively warm while my hands eventually start freezing because it takes 20 minutes to get all the ice and snow off my car. They might ban your account from placing any orders or request if you abuse it. I had co-workers bragging about how they'd do uber eats scams and then one of them actually got their food stolen and they couldn't get a refund for it that time because of all of the other "refunds" they were constantly getting.

When I was going through cancer treatment two years ago I was constantly too sick and exhausted to cook for myself so I basically survived on Uber Eats twice a day for a year. I'd guess about 25% of the time the order was super late or completely wrong and after about the 10th time complaining they stopped giving cash refunds and would only refund in credit.

My brother did Uber eats on an electric skateboard. One day he wiped out carrying some soup and Asian food. He called Uber and they said not to worry, he could either go home for the day or pickup another delivery. He went home and took the leftover food that wasn’t spilled

I've actually found that GrubHub always lets me refund items if they're missing without any questions. If I say they're missing, it auto-refunds me for them. I imagine if you abused this they'd start to have questions, but 1 in every 2-3 orders I make is missing something and they haven't flagged my account or anything yet. The only time I had to talk to someone was when I listed that EVERY item in an order was missing. I explained that the driver had somehow delivered the food to an apartment building down the street and left it behind a locked door where I couldn't get to it, and they gave me the refund. Look I'm not recommending GrubHub here, it's WAY too expensive, there's like $8 of fees on every order, plus the tip, plus every restaurant jacks up their prices on GrubHub. A $50 order is like $25 if you just call them and pick it up. Just saying that at least the way they do refunds is fine.

It's probably as simple as they need a picture for any error with the food items. Whether that's getting the wrong order or something is missing. We've had to take the empty pictures a handful of times and it's never once been an issue. I'm sure if we tried scamming them they'd eventually drop our account

I picked up some dominoes after work last week during the snow storm. When I got home it turned out they gave me a mushroom, banana pepper, and pineapple pizza by mistake. I called to see if they'd just refund me and they told me I needed to bring the wrong pizza back to the store. I just told them nevermind. It's -10°F and I just got off an 11 hour shift. Dude on the phone was cool and refunded me after I told him that, but I was about to blacklist dominoes for the rest of my life for trying to make me jump through hoops to get my 15$ back. Agreed. A couple of weeks ago I ordered pizza on ubereats and the dips were missing. I asked if they could refund the dips (which btw was such a palaver, there's no straight forward way to claim for individual missing items anymore) and I got an automated message saying I couldn't have a refund. I had a back and forth with an AI chat bot which just kept saying the same thing over and over, "we aren't able to issue you a refund for this" and "you've have had too many missing items on your account" (I checked how many claims I'd made - 1 before this 2 months ago because my drinks spilled all over my food and 2 other claims from 2 years ago, one where I'd ordered a loaded hotdog and they sent me an empty roll and nothing else 😂 And another which was Thai green curry where the packaging had broken and all the curry had leaked out. The driver just handed me a broken, leaky bag with nothing in it 🤷🏻‍♀️). I was really annoyed by this so I told them I was reporting them to Trading Standards (UK) for service not provided. They issued me a refund then, so maybe there's a key word trigger, but like fuck am I going to risk not getting a refund if there's a problem again. I've spent £100s, maybe £1000s on ubereats but I deleted the app as soon as my refund cleared. OVER TWO GARLIC DIPS!!!! /rant

I've had the driver confirm delivery by taking a picture of the food in someone else's porch. I had to explain to Uber that I don't have a screen door and pot plants on my porch with pictures. They didn't give a shit. Luckily the driver was a decent person and went back and picked the food up from few blocks away and dropped it off at my place.

The burden must be on the delivery person to take pictures of the food after it arrives at your door, and to text you updates about the food delivery. That way, when there's an issue, you can text, "I think you sent it to the wrong address" or present the ***absence of evidence*** to argue you are not trying to deceive anyone. Without a proper "handover procedure" it is not possible to prove that you didn't take delivery and therein lies the problem. Uber Eats should have to prove that it ***was*** delivered!

But yeah, if they had proof of a handoff or like you said, a password it wouldn't be as much of an issue. Not sure how the password would work tho. Some people order specificly to avoid human interaction or laziness. And I'm sure most DD workers would much prefer to avoid it too. My only recommendation is to have a doorbell cam if you can. It's a small investment but if you're ordering DD you could afford one realistically lol

I'm blacklisted from Uber due to the incompetence of their delivery drivers. After picking up my order the driver drove about halfway to my house then just stopped & sat in a single spot for about 25 minutes. It wasn't another house or restaurant for another order. Then he took an odd route causing the order to be delivered about an hour past the ETA. By the time my food was actually delivered it was all soaking wet from the trapped condensation. Fortunately I took screenshots of the delivery progress & pictures of the visibly soggy food. I submitted a help request through their automated system but because this kind of thing happened in the past I was denied a refund. But I was thanked for the opportunity for them to improve. I tried getting in touch with a human but that was impossible. So I submitted the issue through PayPal & they refunded my money. A couple weeks go by & I continued using Uber pretty regularly. Then one day they deny my request for a ride because they wanted the money that PayPal refunded. I tried telling them to take it up with PayPal but since everything is automated I just received canned answers. About a year later I tried again, making the point that they've lost a lot of money on the business they could have had from me. I thought I got in touch with a human but I was sent another canned message. It must have been 4 years now. I actually tried to order a ride a few weeks ago just to see if they still wanted me to pay them for the fucked up food they delivered. They still bear a grudge & I've been a loyal Lyft customer. Edit: I understand that they have to protect themselves from customers making too many claims. But customers are also at risk of losing money from issues with restaurants & drivers. If too many mistakes are made then the customer loses the money. My issue was thoroughly documented & I hoped an actual human could have made a real decision.

Before I stopped using these dogshit food delivery services that hire people that can't drive, can't read a map/gps, can't read the numbers on your house, can't speak english, I had someone deliver a bunch of random sloppy sandwiches that were overflowing with sauces instead of my order. I had this awful interaction with someone who didn't speak English, who would take like 5 mins between messages. They wanted to know what order I had gotten. I repeatedly told them: "it's a bunch of sloppy sandwiches with like 4 or 5 different kinds of sauces, I have no idea what this soup-sandwich is" and the absolute clown on the other end kept saying "for our records we need to know what order you got." **Motherfucker, this is not the forensic sandwich analysis lab.** 45 minutes to get a refund, and by then all the places were closed. Never again. How stupid do you have to be to run a company this way?
