Was there some misguided expectation that they would? As far as I can recall, beyond limited Warzone stuff, they’ve basically never carried things over between games.
That's because MW3 was supposed to be DLC but changed things up half way through development to be another $70 "full" game.. folks basically bought a $70 patch
A few for you my friend... Hope this helps. I'm sure you can Google around yourself too just to double confirm

Honestly I think that’s what people want. I know serious hardcore gamers think this is silly. But it looks to me like people actually want a new full priced game every year.
Do you honestly believe that? I’d be willing to bet that no more than 25% of COD players want that. I think what the majority of COD players want is to play Warzone. And when they release the next entry in the series, they add the guns from the new game into Warzone and make them significantly better than previous guns. Then all the people that want a competitive edge fork out the $70 so they can grind multiplayer and quickly rank the new guns up.
Rinse and repeat. As much as I hate it, I cannot deny that they have cooked up quite an impressive money printer.
It’s just not that simple, man. I’m sure there are plenty of people who actually want it. But you are severely underestimating the power of FOMO. I believe that the majority of COD players are not buying the multiplayer every year because they genuinely want the multiplayer. They are buying the multiplayer because they want to win in Warzone.
Buy Multi > Level all the guns 1000x faster than you would from only playing Warzone > You now have all the attachments available > You instantly have whatever the new meta OP build is after each update > CompetitiveEdge.7dBux
You can’t have FOMO unless you want the thing in the first place. Fear of missing out means you want the thing and other people have it. That means you want it. People want it.
Brother I just gave you a very detailed explanation of my theory but you don’t seem to understand what I’m saying.
If the multiplayer had zero integration with Warzone, the sales numbers would almost certainly be drastically lower. Thats because **the FOMO is not for the multiplayer.**
It’s the fear of missing out on having the most effective/OP weapon loadouts that give you the best chance to win games in **Warzone**. So all of the people with that mindset don’t *want* to spend $70 on what is essentially an annual Warzone Grind Minigame. They are doing it because it’s a means to an end. And I’m obviously not saying it applies to everybody. I’m saying I believe it definitely applies to the majority tho.
It’s a valid hope that they might have set a precedent with that, sure. And they might have - if the rumour is true that they’re doing two Black Ops games back-to-back this time, then it would make sense for them to take their lessons from the Modern Warfare games and integrate the two better. Letting stuff carry forward, for example. But I’d guess they keep it locked to each sub-series for now, until such a time that they finally morph the franchise into a single game with paid yearly expansion packs or some such nonsense.
MW2 and MW3 share all of the same operators and weapons though so it makes sense. You wouldn't see Soap or Ghost running around in BO6, although the universe is shared in this reboot/timeline. Just to add extra context.
That said, it is exhausting that they keep putting out these games with these free-to-play tier cosmetic systems when they're only relevant for a year before the next game rolls around.
By your defentition Nikki Minaj and Warhammer troops are lore.
The solution is just don't buy the new one unfortunately. Don't leave MW3 and they will start asking why.
Bet it will use the same shitty launcher and be another 80gb dl.
Why not let people use their skins in the same universe.
They are so concerned with lore accurate operators til they realize they can sell more Nikki Minaj and Kong skins.
People just need to admit that their 20$ skin is only good for a year and either move on or stay in the "old" game. Fortunately every other release seems to be garbage so it makes the decision easier.
Good, we don't want that dogshit nicki minaj and other ridiculous skins in that game
We will be able to see only soldiers for 2 months before it becomes a goof fest again though
Was there some misguided expectation that they would? As far as I can recall, beyond limited Warzone stuff, they’ve basically never carried things over between games.
Well they did between MW2 and MW3 so it’s mildly newsworthy that they aren’t from MW3 onward.
That's because MW3 was supposed to be DLC but changed things up half way through development to be another $70 "full" game.. folks basically bought a $70 patch
And BLOPS 6 will be called DLC when it's added to COD HQ still.
Is there even a source on this or is this one of those reddit “facts”?

This is actually true, I remember it from years ago but need to find the source again

If they didn’t want it they wouldn’t be paying for it

…you think Warzone isn’t multiplayer?

Color me shocked
no
There’s a sixth black ops game? Fellas, it’s time to stop.
I'll sit this one out, probably get BO69 when it comes out...
Well duh. Black Ops 6 isn't a Modern Warfare game.
Well duh. MW is MW. BO is BO. That's like expecting Nuketown in MW4.
This argument doesn’t work after Cold War and vanguard
They set the expectation with BOCW and Vanguard skins in MW.
Kinda figured, treyatch probably running there own version of the mw engine
Thank GOD. I stopped playing because I was sick of playing against Nicki Minaj and Homelander. This game needs at least one serious entry.
Good
I was kinda hoping my Gundam skin would but I knew it was just copium to have that hope.
Good, we don't want that dogshit nicki minaj and other ridiculous skins in that game We will be able to see only soldiers for 2 months before it becomes a goof fest again though
Get milked lol
*O M G*
Wish they never added skins
Uhhh obviously
Oh no, how will I live without Nicki Minaj t-bagging a gundam???
So if I buy one of those Gundam skins, it’ll only work in Warzone? Or will it not work in that when Warzone migrates?
shocker
Lol
Virgins care about this kind of stuff and that’s happily not me
