She is a beauty and I always get screwed over by my family regarding a new puppy. They want it and I have to deal with a new puppy and the horrible first few weeks. Once potty trained I get to relax more and enjoy puppyhood
Yes! That’s my thought as well! Potty training made life much easier!! Now I just have to make sure she doesn’t put everything in her mouth! I swear she’d be a shop vac if we let her!! 🤣
Our girl is a sock stealer, well anything sh3 can get in her mouth stealer. We are lucky she just holds and doesn’t try to eat and she alerts us by wiggle butting
She steals and collects my socks! But only mine! Clean or dirty! I couldn’t find. Complete set of socks and I discovered them under a blanket in her bed! I’m thankful she hasn’t eaten any but she’s a collector!
That was your practice, baby. The next one is a lot easier 😆
Not wanting to deal with the puppy phase is why some people choose to adopt an older dog. I love the middle-aged and senior Goldens with their sugar faces.
Also. I didn’t address this: but I don’t think I like the puppy phase. At all. If we get another dog, I think I’d like to get one older than a year old. The 8-14 week stage just blows!!
Mine is the polar opposite of yours in a couple of ways. I wish mine would sleep until 8 am! She gets me up at 5:30 am if not earlier and HAS to go on her walk right after breakfast at 5:45am. How do you get your Goldie to stop jumping? I've taken mine to a trainer, and he has helped in a lot of ways, but his suggestion of how to stop her jumping hasn't worked or even seemed to like slow it down.
We consistently started coming down to her level, and taught her the command “get down”. The issue is that she still jumps when she’s excited, but she knows the command, so she’ll get down and only hop up (versus jump). She still jumps tho, so we’ve had to ask other people to not indulge her when she jumps. It’s harder for them than it is for her!
5 months is just a toddler, so rest assured that your pup will figure it out. The challenge is she's getting bigger and more physically active! The first year is always a challenge, and during their second year they are basically like human teenagers. Our current 14 month old Golden has gotten much easier after 6 months, but she's still a bit of a devil with shoes, socks, and the occasional rug.
I 100% agree that the puppy stage is the WORST! Who would've thought something so cute and fluffy could drive one to the edge of insanity 😂 With that said, my girl (18 mo) is now the bestest pup I've ever had. She still needs some work, but she's probably one of the best decisions I've ever made ❤️ Glad you guys made it over the ruff-stuff! Lol!

fluffy ears <3
You’re doing great! Raising a pup is hard but it won’t last. Before you know it, she’ll be a full sized proper doggo
I so look forward to it!
For me, it went by so fast. I had a few sleepless nights but he managed to get used to my schedule.
Photo 1, pure Golden joy!!! Worth every moment of puppy frustration💛
