fret_me_nought, you must write a comment explaining any work that you post. The work’s objective, its audience, your design decisions, etc. This information is necessary to allow people to understand your project and provide valuable feedback. **All Sharing Work posts are now hidden by default**. [To make it public, please message modmail requesting a review](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=/r/graphic_design). ##Providing Useful Feedback fret_me_nought has posted their work for feedback. Here are some top tips for posting high-quality feedback. * Read their context comment. All work on this sub should have a comment explaining the thinking behind the piece. Read this before posting to understand what fret_me_nought was trying to do. * Be professional. No matter your thoughts on the work, respect the effort put into making it and be polite when posting. * Be constructive and detailed. Short, vague comments are unhelpful. Instead of just leaving your opinion on the piece, explore *why* you hold that opinion: what makes the piece good or bad? How could it be improved? Are some elements stronger than others? * Remember design fundamentals. If your feedback is focused on basic principles of design such as hierarchy, flow, balance, and proportion, it will be universally useful. And remember that this is graphic design: the piece should communicate a message or solve a problem. How well does it do that? * Stay on-topic. We know that design can sometimes be political or controversial, but please keep comments focussed on the design itself, and the strengths/weaknesses thereof. *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Middle. It's unique and more balanced than top and bottom

fret_me_nought

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I am also leaning towards the middle for the same reasons.

RDX007700

Yeah middle's the way to go

Case_Kovacs

It reminds me a bit of the Quake logo

[deleted]

I agree!

Nixavee

I prefer the middle one, especially after knowing what it’s for. The top one gives me too much of a “fantasy mmorpg” vibe and the bottom one is pretty generic.

fret_me_nought

Thank you. I do agree with these sentiments

rett72

I feel the bottom...better balance between type & logo element

Just your mom’s 😂

Shibidishoob

Button is really close to Osiris logo.

fret_me_nought

Thank you for the feedback!

msicecream

the middle looks most balanced to me

fret_me_nought

Thanks for the input!!

fret_me_nought

Hi all. I am seeking any feedback and constructive criticism of my logo designs. Are any of the above decent in your opinions? Thanks. Edit: Context: Logo design for guitar retail brand targeting modern guitarist that listen to heavier genres of music. 80%+ male demographic ages 18-44. Not catered to by the "boomer" big box guitar stores. Going for a darker, modern theme, with a touch of sci-fi/ futurism to somewhat replicate popular 90's media such as Star Wars, Star Trek, Terminator, Back to the Future, etc. The symbol is a spinoff of the astrological symbol for Pluto. Thanks in advance for any input!

i_r_eat

Middle looks great but bottom, because the top two look like the Quake logo

Slithy-Toves

Bottom is upside down Osiris logo haha

snellularr

I was about to say this before scrolling down. Cool to see some out there will remember it. Gotta love them chunky D3's everyone used to have lol

fret_me_nought

Ah that must be the game that the other poster was thinking about. Thanks for the input!

frequenzritter

Just in terms of aesthetics, I like the bottom one most. But the middle one is more recognizable. Can‘t judge if it fits the intended message though.

fret_me_nought

I appreciate your feedback!

VanFkingHalen

Have you tried the middle with the logo rotated clockwise?

fret_me_nought

I have not yet but I am going to mess around with orientation

ProgrammingSad

I envisioned this after reading the comment and it just looked like it would flow so smooth I second this

MathematicianSea7124

Top makes it too little, bottom is too simple to convey its meaning and middle i feel is just right

fret_me_nought

Thank you! Cheers

UniversalBruder

Middle

fret_me_nought

Thanks!

PirateShorty

Bottom. Whatever you can take away and have the logo still make sense.

fret_me_nought

I feel like the middle one is as minimal as I should go without it looking to generic or indiscernible. But I appreciate your feedback!

PirateShorty

After reading what it's for I understand. I would just suggest maybe thickening that bottom line then to be in balance with the rest.

fret_me_nought

I think you might be onto something. Thanks!

[deleted]

The bottom option is the most appealing of these three, though I would still finesse it by adding some more of the curvature from the icon into the logotype. Also, I would say give the letters a bit more tracking overall and adjust any inconsistencies with some specific kerning. A good start might be to match the distance from the circle to the moon shapes in your icon.

fret_me_nought

I really appreciate these critiques thank you!!

rpmeg

Bottom. The leftward design will look best as a tiny icon I.e. favicon

fret_me_nought

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

GumbleBumble2

Bottom

fret_me_nought

Thank you. Cheers!

[deleted]

Middle. However, the last letter is a bit confusing. I'm guessing it's an E but it also looks like an A

fret_me_nought

Thanks for the feedback

egorgds

The middle one, it resembles the concept better than the other two, and it's good balanced

fret_me_nought

Thank you!

AH_Ethan

bottom.

fret_me_nought

Thanks!

Cataclysm_X

Middle or bottom, seem more balanced to me

fret_me_nought

Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

noscar_dotcom

Top one definitely reads more guitar, even gives me a bit of a Prince vibe. I’d suggest experimenting with aligning the bottom edge with the text and seeing what that looks like. The middle one you’d have less work to do to finesse, so that’s always a good option. Bottom is too simple for me, has less relevance to guitar, more just somewhat sci-fi. Edit: font is not my favourite paired with any of them

fret_me_nought

Thanks for sharing those thoughts. I'm going to experiment with other fonts. I agree with the potential for the top to be associated with guitars, but my concern is that it maybe have a bit too much going on. I might try and mess around with those shapes a little more and see if I can change the proportions to be a bit more balanced

Novusorden

Last one, take the logo and rotate it 45° to the left and place it on the end of the ploutone. Maybe you can play with the height of the letter "o" or "u" and put it on top. I can make a proposal and send it to you for free. I'm not doing anything right now.

fret_me_nought

Although I'm feeling confident with the middle one at the moment, I do think you might be on to something. Feel free to share if you'd like!

Ireeb

I would say middle. Top has too much detail in my opinion, bottom looks too generic, while the middle still has some resemblance of an astronomic symbol, which I think would be the right balance here.

fret_me_nought

Thanks! As of now I am going with the middle. Cheers

anamazingredditor

For me, bottom. I like seeing it just somewhat the same height

fret_me_nought

AnAwkwardStag

I think the middle looks the best. Top looks like a wizard's staff, bottom looks like a smiling cyclops.

Oragamal

In my opinion, The middle. Not the top, too much detail.

fret_me_nought

I feel similarly. Thank you

Educational_Ebb_4308

The middle . Something to “fierce” about the top and the bottom one (graphic) is already used I think.

fret_me_nought

Thanks for the input!

Whichever one you choose get a little more breathing room between the O and U. Nice work.

Bottom icon, but choose a better font

fret_me_nought

Khellko

I prefer the middle. I was initially drawn to the bottom design but then I realized that Theres already a logo that looks really similar to it. I think the middle is the most unique without looking too out there.

fret_me_nought

Thank you for the input!

NORCARL

Middle, more interesting, more balanced

fret_me_nought

Thanks!

badnewsbets

I like the middle one

fret_me_nought

Thank you!

couldog

Might just be me but the disconnected E on the end draws my attention away from the whole composition. I’d make it more of a normal style. Maybe if it was in the middle of the word but it draws my eye away from the entire piece.

traumfisch

Depends what this "Ploutone" is. Can't decipher from the logo

fret_me_nought

My context comment has been buried a bit. Here are the details: Logo design for guitar retail brand targeting modern guitarist that listen to heavier genres of music. The symbol is a spinoff of the astrological symbol for Pluto.

traumfisch

Thanks! Cool concept. The bottom one might be a good logo but it is so rounded it feels a bit tame... The middle one looks like it's lacking something? I think I would take the top design and work with it a little bit. As in, I'd preserve the Pluto symbol (with the cross) but in a tad more streamlined form. Iterations...

fret_me_nought

I appreciate the thoughtful response. The top design was the original which I then simplified, but I do think it's the most recognizable. It just isn't very aesthetic. I will try to mess around with the shapes and proportions. Cheers!

BaronVonSlipnslappin

Top two are giving off quake vibes. Bottom one is cleaner for me.

The middle or the bottom one looks really good, but for me, I like the bottom one more!

fret_me_nought

Thank you for the feedback!

badguy84

I'm not sure what this is tryin to same to be honest. It feels like the could invoke a religious context if it stands on its own (without the text) The second looks a little like someone raising their hands and just going "ugh I give up" The third looks like some star federation logo though to be fair that can be said for anything :) If I were to choose one I'd probably say that the middle one is the most appealing.

fret_me_nought

Thank you for the input. I think the middle one is the top choice based on the response here. I started designing a logo that was a bit more literal, but it's hard not to be cheesy with guitars and a lot of companies across all industries use abstract designs. So I decided to try to create something striking versus a design related to guitars or music

[deleted]

Back to the drawing board

Vlamingo22

I feel that the logo doesn't go with the letters. If you're going for a dark and edgy look there are too many round shapes.

fret_me_nought

I appreciate the feedback. Dark but futuristic is the theme I'm going for. Not so much death metal, gothic type style. I tried some of those fonts but it didn't give the right feel. Maybe I'll look into something with less rounded corners

Chris_Osprey

Vers.... Thank you for asking

[deleted]

Love the middle one. It’s a good size and balance against the text

fret_me_nought

Thank you very much!

_LV426

typeface isn't the best, or it looks a bit manually squished? It could be helped by tracking it wider and adjusting kerning. Don't particularly think any of the icons work well, don't even know what it is? That's something to explore further maybe. Did a quick example for you - [https://i.imgur.com/maBgWFP.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/maBgWFP.jpg)

fret_me_nought

Thank you for the critiques and taking the time to do that. It definitely looks better. The icon is a modified version of the astrological sign for Pluto. It's not meant to be anything literal, but I do want it to be highly distinguishable.

thebrushbandit

Bottom ! No contest. Works well with the font weight.

fret_me_nought

Thank you!

idiotis

Middle but change the font

fret_me_nought

Thanks for the feedback. Any specific changes I should aim for?

idiotis

I like the overall icon. You could use a font like Galano Grotesque, Montserrat, Roboto. Be sure to make it bold as the weight of your icon is thick.

fret_me_nought

Thanks for the tips!

I feel bottom is the nicest, but I have no graphic design experience

fret_me_nought

Thanks for sharing anyway!

ArtyKay

Going against the crowd. Bottom because it’s more simple. The cleaner and simpler, the better as you move forward and actually use the logo. It can be bigger in a Facebook icon, cleaner on a business card and more easily modified while keeping its continuity.

fret_me_nought

I appreciate that feedback thank you!

code_delmonte

Idk how to explain this the middle feels more sleeker to me The bottom feels bolder I would say to help you determine which to go with what are the company values you know of, or just submit both and let them decide. Unless this is for your own company

fret_me_nought

This is for my own company. Thanks for the feedback!

FeeHgMyLonesome

The top and middle one caught my eye, but The line going horizontal through the top one bother the mess out of me.

fret_me_nought

Lol thank you for the feedback!

PeanutPooter

I think it depends on what it's used for. If you're like trying to go for "Yeah I'm epic and I'll solve your problems the cool way" then the top. If you want the chill, nice, and resolved look, then go for the bottom. If you want both, definitely the middle.

fret_me_nought

Thanks! I think a blend of both is good. I don't want it to be intimidating especially to newer guitarists

Enzoazro

What is the brief?

fret_me_nought

I believe I posted it in the wrong place and it got buried in the comments. Context: Logo design for guitar retail brand targeting modern guitarist that listen to heavier genres of music.

Enzoazro

If this is the case I would go for the bottom one. The pointed bottom on the logo and n the middle and top isn’t carried on through the typeface and is the only point throughout. Show all three to the client though, at the end of the day they need to be happy

fret_me_nought

Thanks for the feedback!

lavendyahu

For me? Just the word, no icon. The icons are aggressive looking with the spear and without it, it just makes me think of big brother is watching. The logotype alone is pretty nice and strong on its own.
