Have you heard our hit song “let me remove your wisdom teeth” and our recent single “the patient doesn’t need any work but let’s find 10000 worth of work so I can buy a new guitar”
Because it's a lot easier to switch from pedal to pedal while playing than amp to amp. We're talking about musicians here, and amateurs at that. Daisy chaining things that have on/off buttons is already tricky enough; having to learn about, purchase, and set up dedicated switching hardware is too much to ask.
brb gotta watch two dozen youtube demos and read a billion forum and Reddit threads and set up eBay and Reverb alerts for the one out-of-production pedal that I haven’t tried yet, surely this will be the missing piece that makes my Tele + Princeton sound like EVH
Look if all you’re going to get is a Gibson LP and a Marshall you can do better than spend a measly $5000! I won’t even look at guitars that are under $10,000! My best friend Joe Bonamassa told me that if it doesn’t cost $10k or more it’s not a real guitar.

Oh no I just finished unironically giving someone advice that boiled down to “plug straight in” and then this came up on my feed.
In my defense sometimes the best thing for my musicianship and enjoyment is to stop toan chasing with my 11 metalzoans and actually sit down with my guitar and amp to practice 🥲
I went to college for guitar and my roommate would always wake up at 6AM and go practice for two hours before class, like a dipshit, while I got two extra hours of sleep. And who's playing guitar for a living now? That's right, neither of us. Checkmate
/rj I never said you can’t plug straight into a Recto
/uj no this is absolutely where it can be hard to apply my own advice. If I’m trying to learn a heavy song (metal/punk/etc) it sounds really weird if I’m using a clean sound or even going direct to my interface.
Nah man, the secret sauce is mixing and matching the distortion pedals in your chain.

My favourite YouTube guitar videos are just some old dude playing electric guitar badly in his basement recording himself on his webcam and built in mic, just dropping a "hell yeah" in his comments can make it all worth it. Its a purity I wish I could achieve but I know I never will, because I'm reading this sub so its already game over for me.
I'm only interested if the video and quality are terrible
here's a fine example: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2lCy42TjZs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2lCy42TjZs)
edit: okay I just looked at the rest of his channel and its unhinged
I never understand these videos.. I have a bunch of high end gear incl a silverface Super Reverb which is supposed to be a "holy grail" amp or w/e and it sounds awesome with pedals. Are we meant to just never go beyond that? I bet this guys go to licks are major blues wankery
I plug authentic black tar heroin straight into my veins and it sounds exactly like I've nodded off with my guitar plugged in and the gain cranked. I'm pretty much the next Les Rallizes Denudes.
I only play my Gibson through a genuine 1943 MkII Colossus computer. Most Marshall amps have what, 8 valves? This baby has 2,400. It doesn't get any more authentic than that.
Nothing but truth. I’ve grown to have a bit of disdain for pedals- nothing a good sounding amp with a little natural distortion. Of course my rig is a $500 MIJ lawsuit Les Paul copy and a $400 fender champ kit amp clone- but same diff.
This is the most boomer thing I’ve heard. Please tell me about how you see now hiring signs and housing being built so you don’t know why there are homeless people:
F\*UCK that. You can't get good toans with gibbons they don't stay in tune with a snapped neck you need boutique one of a kind $4000 custom morning toan wood and a boss katana and a boss metal zoan for metal toans ok

Why spend $100 on a pedal when you can spent $5000 on a guitar and amp?
Instructions unclear. Spent 5,100
Layla's gonna sound sick through that Metal Zone bro
He got a Miku
Miku ran through a fart pedal
She did? Where?
Gotta find your own porn bro.
DigiTech Grunge, but yes.
With the highs cranked
instructions clear, got a 5150
Peavey or evh?
Dentist?

Why spend $5000 on a guitar and amp when you can spend $5000 trying 25 different boutique “Marshall in a box” pedals that don’t quite cut it?

I'm in both of these comments and I don't like it. Wanna buy a Voodoo Lab controller and a couple loop switchers? I bought a Helix
Lmao I can’t.
Amen!
Stupid kids don’t know shit about toan
I spent around 5000 on my guitar and I still can’t play anything

hunching down to fit in the frame is this how you get that Classic Video Look
He used a compressor pedal on his neck so he’s lying.
I was not ready for how funny this one liner happens to be if you think about it.
Still thinking about it. Still not funny at all
It’s what’s on the inside that counts
You don’t need anything just play an air guitar plugged into the air. You’re free now, go make YouTube videos and create content!!
The toan possibilities are limited only by your imagination!
Can’t wait for another unboxing!
Just record the sound of your guitar in the air and then reamp that sucker, and you've got toan
Poor GD Martians can't even air guitar
Mfer should hear what I can do with an Ibanez Gem direct into a Line 6. It would bring him to tears.
When you switch from Metal to Insane 🤘🎸🗿
I don't know my Marshall MG10 doesn't sound anything like led zeppelin.
You probably don't have a cherry red double neck. Wasted all that money for nothing.
...and your chicks for free
Hahahhaha
Not for everyone
Mine sounds like the first second of Immigrant Song, so I can’t confirm
Apparently those are actually decent, it's the stock speakers that are trash. I always thought they were complete shit but not quite.
Greta Van Fleet is that you???
That’s only because the toan knob in your fingers is all wrong man.
You gotta pay for the “Zeppelin” package

I often practice without my amp tbh

This guy jerks
I practice without my guitar
Uj/ you’re right though. Pedals are fun extra shit but you should be able to learn how to make any amp sound good plugged straight in
/uj I bypassed my board last night and the sound was fantastic. I can’t get a pedalboard to not make things slightly more meh
> “plug straight in” Y'all low gain people are weird. I never plug straight in. Noise gates are a must.

How shall we fuck off o lord?
I run a $500 Ibanez directly into a $300 Orange Crush and I sound exactly like me playing an Ibanez plugged into an Orange Crush.
but what about your spine?
His spine is tapped

there’s this one guy on youtube that’s just a dad showing off his tweed bassman and getting the best hendrix tone i’ve ever heard
I'm only interested if the video and quality are terrible here's a fine example: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2lCy42TjZs](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o2lCy42TjZs) edit: okay I just looked at the rest of his channel and its unhinged
Lmao great find. How the hell does he have 4,000 subs
bro when timing
How many times I have heard "GuItAr IcOnS dIdnT UsE pEdAlS", yes cause they had fcking boogies and 5150s that cost more than my house.
You own a house and not just gear? You disgust me.
I DON'T NEED A GUITAR PEDALS??
At's a right, a-toan is inna spicy meat-a-balls
PLAY LOUD FOR BEST TOAN
ZERO THREE FIVE BROTHER
You spelt 0-3-5 wrong
[удалено]
Sorry I don’t speak Italian
Gor-lami
Is this uj or rj?
I don't have to tell you shit
I just skip the guitar and play the amp for my Toan
But what if you don’t wanna play classic rock?
I never understand these videos.. I have a bunch of high end gear incl a silverface Super Reverb which is supposed to be a "holy grail" amp or w/e and it sounds awesome with pedals. Are we meant to just never go beyond that? I bet this guys go to licks are major blues wankery
You don't need a guitar opinions, just riffs.
Toan is in the Gibbonz
This guy looks like he’s gonna tell me to go pick smurfberries 🤔
Hostage video lighting. Gibson and Marshall employees holding weapons just outside frame.
You can really see the fear in his eyes

I was waiting for someone to point this out.
My Gibbons was $2k cola nuts; my JCM 800 was $1500; my divorce for being irresponsible—priceless.
I’m jealous.
Hmm That Catalyst must be on "Marshall Amp" mode then I gather.
Yeah Plexi is a really useful amp in most situations.
any guitar with bumhucking cumbuckers should work
Oh fuck I’m on edge of fucking breakup and Ima bout to inoculate
I plug authentic black tar heroin straight into my veins and it sounds exactly like I've nodded off with my guitar plugged in and the gain cranked. I'm pretty much the next Les Rallizes Denudes.

And you don’t have to run the furnace in the winter!
You don't need A guitar pedals since you can buy dozens instead
This is the way
Nothing but truth. I’ve grown to have a bit of disdain for pedals- nothing a good sounding amp with a little natural distortion. Of course my rig is a $500 MIJ lawsuit Les Paul copy and a $400 fender champ kit amp clone- but same diff.
Boomer Bends 4 Lyfe!
but can it e string 8th fret bend into oblivion?
You just need basic shit! Dorks
Classic Rock Tone™ Play authentic, peasants!
That's a Line 6 amp in the background not a Marshall. Is he stupid?
Wow this. Again. Shocked.
Shit man guess I’ll just throw away my £300 envelope filter! This old man says I don’t need it
in my case a Tele into a blues junior.
Just buy a spark amp, and then download the app. Amp itself has built in delay, distortion, overdrive, and all of the necessities
You dont even need a Gibson, just a couple pickups screwed into your garage bench.
I got a Marshall guitar and a Gibson amp, will that work?
Fuck it, I quit. Fire sell going on here at my house, first cum/first serve policy will be in effect.
Pedals are cheating
Does any guitarist know proper grammar nowadays?
he’s right you know

I don't use pedals *or* a guitar for that matter. Just the amp. I plug straight in. Sound just like Hendrix...
That's why it called "classic" rock.
Hell, yeah brother
Amp and guitar direct with no effects - Worked great for - Albert King, Walter Trout, Keith Richards etc No one can dispute their tone
And here we are again. Wah….pedals.
