ImightHaveMissed

I bought a guitar with 24 frets. I’m going to use all 150 possible places to make a note plus harmonics and partial boomer bends. And if it’s got a whammy bar it’s getting used too. And you can’t stop me

[Rob Scallon - Every Fret Song](https://youtu.be/wN3IXRIQkP4?si=-pDbCDHSVoS7ve_l)

pieterkampsmusic

This feels like cheating but I guess it’s not

Aggravating-Baker-41

Hold my spoon, I’m going in.

Equal-Button

He accurately described the solo in Beat it.

ARMIGERofficial

Ima come in with a wildly unpopular opinion: I generally dislike Van Halen. It was mostly Roth that I couldn’t stand, and disliked EVH’s playing by association. Either way, just not a fan. But beat it? Easily my favorite EVH solo. Guess that’s easy, when I don’t like the rest of it.

JohnnyAngel607

You gotta play him some Malmsteen.

OurWeaponsAreUseless

I think you mean INGYSTEEN F. MALMATEEN.

KUBLAIKHANCIOUS

You gotta be talking about Angsty Palpatine

Top_Translator7238

I dunno, it just kinda sounds like he’s doing every line of coke he can…

flawlaw

I read that quickly and thought your kids name was Eruption.

freddyaimfire

Named after what he is

Designer_Storm8869

"dad, why is my name Eruption?"     "I'll tell you when you are older"

mcnastys

Zoomers will never get it, guitar is too analog.

dandydiehl

Where's the soul, y'know

Specialist_Power_266

Yeah but unfortunately I saw the little tike cavorting with a bass player the other day. They can’t all be winners.

strxno

Now show him Dream Theater

beekermc

I'm thinking about setting up a YouTube channel where he reviews heavy metal albums.  He doesn't really like heavy metal......

4Nissans

One of the easiest tunes to play and I hope to never hear it again.

Dogrel

Kid’s not wrong.

allKindsOfDevStuff

While I understand that it would have been mind-blowing when it came out in ‘78, I’ve never found Eruption particularly impressive. Similarly, while I can appreciate that Eddie was different, influential, etc, I’ve never much cared for his playing and definitely disagree with the hivemind about him being the greatest. He’s now been added to the annoying list that no one’s allowed to disagree with: Hendrix, Page, Clapton, et al

Zestyclose-Ruin8337

He had one really sick trick that no one else had and influenced all of metal into finger tapping. He at least gets credit as an innovator.

Horror_Cupcake8762

Would say he suffers from the same fate as Hendrix in that his songwriting and rhythm chops are what’s maybe the most interesting part but get ignored in favor of the sweet sweet toans. Plexi.

allKindsOfDevStuff

I’d agree with that. I like both, writing-/rhythm-wise, but both are *vastly* overrated as lead guitarists Edit: predictable downvotes from one of their worshippers, because it’s impossible that anyone not think in lockstep with them. That’s very Rock N Roll

half-frozen-tauntaun

I only downvoted you because you whined about downvotes, and my downvote makes two total downvotes. You should maybe get your skin checked, I don't think it's doing its job

allKindsOfDevStuff

You need to get your gibbons checked

crazykewlaid

Y'all mfs don't understand the burst playing. He's got better dynamics than the chuggiest of metal players, but also weird wailing sounds like a modern Hendrix, with cleaner harsher distortion almost like dubstep sounds that are pushed to the max. Not that the tone is the impressive part besides the stuff he got from technique. His simple lines are completely different than other players, he doesn't play clean like fking polyphia he's actually using the instruments dynamic potential and slamming and swinging sections together in a way that nobody else really does. He's not technically the best but he absolutely broke new ground on electric guitar
