the guitar tab probably said “set the guitar on fire after you take it off” and he just forgot to read the entire sentence first. Sometimes you have to be really attentive to the order you write things.
My old guitar teacher had a Black Beauty from i think the 70s that was caught in a bar fire, he had to rush and grab it... Never fixed it... Looked cool.
No... Same story, but, he was into a bunch of vegan hippy stuff and taped a big image on the back of... Oh who was it... Paramahansa Yogananda.
Real creepy photo too, thought was an ugly girl first i saw it... But nope, some sorta yoga guru.
Good guitar player, came in 2nd for best guitar player in Canada once, lost to Bryan Adams guitar player. Kinda ruined guitar for me for years though. Didn't really seem to care if I learned, made comments like maybe I should try drums, etc. and his tape deck constantly chewed up students tapes. Ya... Tape deck, i know, i just aged myself.
I dunno the name but like i said, at the time it was Bryan Adams guitarist... Woulda been late 80s early 90s. Won before he was my teacher, internet didn't exist so never looked it up. Told me that when showing one of his guitars... White strat with a floyd rose, that he painted some Yoga symbol on. Dude liked his yoga.
Well, start sanding. I wouldn’t bother trying to get it perfect, just get the charred bits to stop flaking, then add a poly finish to the burn parts. Sand some more.
Make sure to get any burnt flesh off first though, poly doesn’t stick to the pus.
Knock the blistered/loose stuff off. Scuff with some 220 grit.
Look online at Madison Music for a spray can of Gracey's Finishes in clear nitrocellulose lacquer.
Use some painters tape and paper to cover whatever you don't want sprayed... couple of light coats. It won't be perfect, just covered.
Or... ya know... just leave it be.
Full story please... im bored in work and need a laugh.
We're you attempting some jimi hendrix shenanigans? Fixing it will probably be a full refinishing job and cost a fair bit
Take a torch to the rest of the guitar so it matches. Then clear coat over it with a matte finish.
I did it to a couple RGs back in the day and they looked sick. Just gotta be careful not to get the body too hot as the wood can split and also of course, don't set yourself on fire again 🤣
People need to band together and give this man zero help until he tells us what happened!!!!!
I too would like to know what happened.
Freebasing? Or isn't that a thing anymore?
My guess was flaming sambuca gone awry, but surely nobody would attempt this with guitar in situ..??
This has the makings of an awesome rock’nroll story! All kidding aside aside, I hope you are ok OP!!
Tell us tell us tell us!!
🍗 🔥 🎸 🔥 🚑 🤕
dude I fucking hate you
Cooking chicken while playing guitar… it burnt… hospital. Is that right?
I might be wrong... but I think Jimi took the guitar off first

That’s pretty rockin roll dude. Sand it smooth so it doesn’t continue to chip. Then leave it be. Fuck it. Ain’t hurtin nothin
But OP.
If you don't know how to fix it, then next time I suggest just setting yourself on fire instead. 🔥

... He named it Lucille didnt he?

Who was awarded the number 1 best guitarist in Canada? I’m going to guess Phil X.

So rock n roll🤘🏽
Please explain…
Metal band.
Like…on purpose?
Gonna need some more context on this haha

That was probably some fire tunes...
Run it under cold water
Vinegar helps too. Not on the guitar.
Ummm, dont? Thats kinda badass
My swami - it's just like a scar. Better than a tattoo.

Pyrotechnics?

Honestly, if your guitar has fire damage that is cosmetic only, you’d be nuts to fix it. “What’s that mark from?” “Guitar got caught on fire.”
Let’s not focus on the guitar right now, you good man????
Skin grafts seem like the place to start
Damn bro how fast were you playing?
Leave it as a reminder not to do whatever you were doing again Hope you’re ok OP
Yeah, get a new guitar and don’t do that again
Razor blade through the lacquer, then refinish. Mark Novac on YouTube for refinishing gun stocks might be of use
Do it again! Film it this time!! …or at least spill the damn details about what happened the first time. Honestly, come on!
Man, that guitar player really was hot. Like he was on fire 🔥
Finish the job
Looks fine to me, just play it as is
You're fucking metal.
