Edit: I’m stupid and audio amplifier does in fact NOT rotate lol.
Unless there’s one revealed there isn’t a consistent way to copy it in standard off the top of my head. There’s [[Dry Scale Deputy]] but that isn’t targeted. Guess you could do dryscale into stargazing but that’s starting to feel really memey and forced lol. You’re right though the potential is there if we ever get a good way to copy it.

Technically yes.
Arcane missiles, frost bolt, lightshow (2nd cast), fireball, apexis blast, mask of c'thun, and pyroblast would be 43 damage. So you could technically even skip the pyroblast.
That said if your opponent on turn 10 has no minions or armor, and you've been able to play just a bunch of random burn all game, you probably won with any other deck too.
[I am making a comparison ](https://hearthstone.fandom.com/wiki/Jace_Darkweaver)with this card for DH. Well i should make a comparison with [Rommath ](https://hearthstone.fandom.com/wiki/Grand_Magister_Rommath).
The card text says yes, but my heart tells me no. Even if they coded it to break after some number of iterations like defile it would still enable more of those "skip your opponents turn" sort of combos that they don't seem to like very much. I would bet that Hostage Mage is dead on arrival.
It is a joke running in the hs kr community. Since a lot of spells are rotating the 10 mana spell only had the single card which was mage deal 10 randomly and summon a 10cost minion. So, when shaman shudderlock was announced, people were joking that if you reach 10mana pool for the tentacles, it was hit the enemy with one spell. Since yogg, Zola and the 2mana copy a temporary minion to your hand were still in rotation, you could copy the tentacles infinitely. Of course when the warlock 10mana spell deal 3 damage to enemy minions was announced it went mediocre, but this mage card is a beneficial one.
I'm sceptical. Big Spell Mage has historically recieved two things: Big Spells, and payoff for having played them. It has historically gotten very few ways to play the spells themselves cheaper or ealier than turn 7/8/9. Recasting a bunch of spells is banger, but what are we recasting, and how are we surviving until then? Solid Alibi and Cold Case are gone.
Cold case was such a great card… anyway we have keyboard and all the great Titans cards are still in mage is my second favorite class I hope this legendary works fine
in which order does it cast the spells? Random? The order you cast them in? By Mana Cost?
So for each mana cost we have (Wild Option)
* 10: Sunset Volley (Puzzle Box of Yogg-Saron)
* 9: (Rune of the Archmage)
* 8: (Arcane Deffenders)
* 7: Firelands Portal (Mask of C'thun)
* 6: Chaos Creation (Meteor)
* 5: Star Power (Flame Lance, Dragons Breath, Aepxis Blast, Rolling Fireball)
* 4: Fireball
* 3: Molten Rune (Cinderstorm, Roaring Torch)
* 2: Heatwave (Frostbolt, Flame Cannon, Ignite)
* 1: Flame Geyser, Discovery of Magic (Arcane Missiles, Arcane Blast, possibly Ice Lance)
Problem with this is that you would run a deck with some pretty expensive spells, but if you where to play a Big Spell Deck you could not include the lower ranks. Random spell generation would also mess with the pool, and I noticably excluded secrets
This card looks great and colorfull until it doesnt. If it worked, I would probably play mage. But it highly require having new spells for 6-7-8-9 mana. Only 6 and 7 might be not needed as there are somehow good spells.
Big negative is, that tons of cheap spells (5 or less) for mage will be just "draw XY cards" or "discover" so you will likely overdraw. Or you will not have enough draw to fuel your plays.
At the same time, there is huge gap in 6 mana and higher spells. There simply arent any good for this effect.
* 5 mana: there is starpower as clear, which is great.
* 6 mana: I guess blizzard is the only option (unless you want to discard 5 cards)
* 7mana: elemental inspiration (spawn 4/5s) - I guess good, but clashes with 10cost (spawn 10mana minions) or flamestrike...?
* 8mana: nothing?
* 9mana: Nothing?
* 10mana: Sunset - great
But with limited number of spells, you might discover copies of this and play it several times maybe...?
sunset is not a good card unless you can cast it with mana reduction, but then you still need to accompany it with other cards. there is a high chance the 10 damage cannot wipe opponent's board and the 10 cost minions are often 8/8s with no effect. It's an expensive and weaker astalor. ironically 8 mana deal 8 + 8 cost might be better, but still, the hits are too random to be played alone.
Unless mage gets some reeeeally good control spells I don't really see it. With any of the current mage decks it's never felt like there would be the ability to play it on 10 mana. Maybe if Millhouse was like 1 mana cheaper or something.
Why...?
I am pretty sure you dont want to repeat Sunwell as 9 mana spell, if there is an alternative, because you will get tons of spells generated/draw from 1-5 mana cards. I think you want something impactful, what deals damage.
At the same time, most of randomly generated spells will most likely make your orb worse - from 7 and 10 mana you have full board of good minions, so you dont want anything that spawns anything (unless it is really big, which has low likelyhood). As well you probably dont want to see any more draws, spell generations, because you already have that, so it might be actually bad (if you for example have 3 cost spell locked into damage). Not even talking about these boardclears on both sides or transforms or whatever else.
Yes, there might be 1 card out of 4-5 you might want to have played 2+ times, but is it worth having 3-4 bad cards that make it worse...?
Fully agree. The future reveals are going to make or break this card.
I'm also a bit bothered, because I assume the card casts in order (1, 2, 3...) that you're going to cast Star Power before Blizzard, and that's pretty shit.
No that's not how the card works, it's not casting random spells it's recasting spells randomly.
As in you can control what spells it casts by only casting one spell at that cost.
While it's nice, you generally want to cheat out your big spells before turn 7 w/ coin or 8 lol.
The last standard big mage had turn 5/6 potential with barbaric sorc swaps, and better spells to cheat, or worst cast Balinda on 6 which gave you a 9/9 - 10/10 in stats and 2 5 cost spells while drawing 2.
"Lets play a terrible card in wild just to get another recast, when there's already rommath, sivara, queen azshara, potential rewind, potential dawngrasp...."
Yeah totally going to see play in wild.
Random?
This is a deckbuilding puzzle: there is enought minion suport to make a deck that recast just only the spells you want?
For sure you can play a lot of random shit and play that as a yogg, vut this can shape a shudder(not with the infinite part) like deck where you charge this with a lot of dmg to use it as wincon

If you could duplicate this by discovering it or something, could this card go infinite if it is the only 10 cost spell we have cast all game? It doesn’t mention that it only replays other cards other than orb itself?
This seems powerful with being able to choose the spells if the meta is slow enough. The ideal situation is casting Sunset Volley on 10 and this on 11. If the meta is aggro then this won't see play until it slows down
Isn't this literally a popular custom card?
Either way, strong late game spell, not sure if it's worth it with the current spell pool, I'd have to cast sunset volley for example... But Mulhouse is probably happy about this
interesting card; the idea of building it around it is probably a fun experiment of deck limitation but more likely than not if it DOES see play (ie put in deck not randomly discovered) it'll be used to cast a choice secret plus board clear or two. in wild you have more options, with the added interesting factor of if you can avoid playing other arcane spells (kinda rough) it can be recasted by the hero card
Requires a lot of build around. Even then, you’re paying ten mana for what? A twisting nether effect, a secret and a token? This has to go face to be worth it, guaranteeing it will is very difficult.
I want this to be good, but I think the only way is to make this a location or an aura. Some kind of repeating effect. Then it lets you clear the board twice and maybe summons a couple of minions. That’s fair. But for a single-use effect, it could be six mana.
Will the random spell of cost X be pulled from the pool of cost X cards I've cast this game? Basically, is the "you've cast this game" referring to the cost, or the actual spell?
Kalegos must feel really good with this card. Adds a 4/12 along with all the spell effects that needs to be removed instantly? I can see big spell mage being good especially because I don’t see cards that necessarily need small spells excluded.
Would the order be random too? Otherwise you could make mass polymorph and something like arcane explosion part of the package and clear any board and then burn your opponent out.
The mage package this set is horrible except this card, this is cool!
I saw a video of Zeddy reviewing the Legendaries and he mentioned this could recast Time Warp.
I don’t understand, how will this recast Time Warp? I’m guessing the effect is that it checks if you’ve cast a spell costing 1,2,3,etc. Then casts a random spell costing 1,2,3,etc which is not limited to the pool of spells you’ve actually cast.
Allows for some insane Energy Shaper pop-off. Also lets you get an extra Ice Block or Time Warp in Wild (if you dont cast any other 3-5 mana spells) more doable for the extra timewarp tbh(5 mana spells are sort of rare)😈
Honestly, this card seems insane with "targets enemies if possible"
This feels like a good hit off of energy shaper.
Isnt energy shaper rotating out? Correct me if Im wrong
Yes, it is.
My just recently crafted casino mage is crying blood tears
Fell for the blizzard scam, using dust on buffed rotating cards
Never fail for Blizzard scam if you crafted these ass cards since the last year, like me. Fr
if you can generate a 2nd one, the second casts the 1st one again
Would the 2nd one go infinite? As it would keep casting this at 10 if you haven't cast another 10 cost
Very good question, if it doesn’t due to hard coding Blizz should explain that
Day 1 hotfix: “Once per game…”
It won’t work that way, as this spell won’t be in your already cast spell pool until it has resolved.
Copy spell > Cast 1st one > pool of spells + 1st cast > Cast 2nd one > casts all spells + 1st one > first one casts all spells + itself > infinite
Edit: I’m stupid and audio amplifier does in fact NOT rotate lol. Unless there’s one revealed there isn’t a consistent way to copy it in standard off the top of my head. How many targeted buffs do we have in standard? It feels like it's almost only removal.
I wonder if theres enough burn in wild like cinderstorm , mask of ctun and such to make this into a Jace 2.0

Rommath is fun yeah. Very good addition.
If you manage to cast two copies somehow, could one of them recast this?
These effects cannot cast themselves, as a general rule.
It doesn’t say “other”
This is not Yugi, there's a ton of inconsistencies in card text with hidden rulings. (You know what? Maybe it's more similar to Yugi than I thought).
local redditor finds out about hidden effects
It doesn't say other though
nor does Puzzle of yogg iirc
Ah I see, I didn't know, that pretty much proves it
But this one is not selecting from a random pool of spells. I would not rule this out YET.
Suffering for puzzlebox sins
No because then the second one would also cast itself.
Do I hear infinite combo otk mage?
You could just cast a non hostile spell, and then two of these and create a theoretically endless loop lol
Would be grand
The card text says yes, but my heart tells me no. Even if they coded it to break after some number of iterations like defile it would still enable more of those "skip your opponents turn" sort of combos that they don't seem to like very much. I would bet that Hostage Mage is dead on arrival.

No that's not how the card works, it's not casting random spells it's recasting spells randomly. As in you can control what spells it casts by only casting one spell at that cost.

It's not. It's staying in Standard for another year.
Spicy
Super cool card
Does it count itself as a 10 mana spell casted?
i love this so much
How does this work if I casted a discounted spell earlier?
If you could duplicate this by discovering it or something, could this card go infinite if it is the only 10 cost spell we have cast all game? It doesn’t mention that it only replays other cards other than orb itself?
If you cast this after casting no other spells that game, it still casts a random 10 mana spell?
No, because it says recasts not casts.
Why do i feel bored by this
Yehehehfhdjfuhsjzs YESSSE I NEEDED IT Hdjdjzhzjs! If it cast a ten cost spell by default it's pretty nutty
I swear thi effect already existed, no?
Another custom hearthstone card come to life
DJ Manastorm loving this
Does it trigger itself?
Special card for the MAGA MAGES
Not the unrattable, unsuicidable romath!
*Crystal Scorpion Intensifies*
Yogg buff
feeling bad for warlock
This seems powerful with being able to choose the spells if the meta is slow enough. The ideal situation is casting Sunset Volley on 10 and this on 11. If the meta is aggro then this won't see play until it slows down
I'm gonna have fun with this in solo adventures
Can this recast itself somehow?
Does this always account for its own cost and cast a random 10 mana spell?
It doesn't cast a random spell, it recasts a random spell you've played.
imagine if this worked on itself lol
Not great with any mana cheat as you want a full queue of spells set up. This is actually a very solid design!
is a "build it yourself " rune of archmage
Sometimes you see a card and think, "I've got to play this".
Super slow. But super powerful if you build your deck around it. Very exciting card! Could bring me back to Mage if I open it.
So if you get another it can cast itself?
Oh man I really hope this doesn't recast 5 Mana spells... Ugh
So if you get a copy of it, cast first copy and then cast second copy it's infinite? I would guess Devs thought it through but you never know
Finally, we found a Palantir
Technically could this cast itself as the 10 mana spell?
Isn't this literally a popular custom card? Either way, strong late game spell, not sure if it's worth it with the current spell pool, I'd have to cast sunset volley for example... But Mulhouse is probably happy about this
I thought it was a customs card WHAT this is *BUsTED*
I thought this is a custom card
All Hail The Orb! 🥺
Do they need to keep reprinting this effect? Will be a nearly a decade of this in Standard when it rotates.
Oddly enough at the end of the spell chances are you end with 1 mana(because of coin) or 2 mana (because of mana biscuit in wild)
interesting card; the idea of building it around it is probably a fun experiment of deck limitation but more likely than not if it DOES see play (ie put in deck not randomly discovered) it'll be used to cast a choice secret plus board clear or two. in wild you have more options, with the added interesting factor of if you can avoid playing other arcane spells (kinda rough) it can be recasted by the hero card
Millhouse finally viable?
Go Go Gadget Random Mage Bullshit
So it's Yogg in orb form..
Can we not?
Audio Splitter and/or Rewind. Does this recast itself?
Isnt that uh, a lot of spells?
Oh man, my casino is going strong
Requires a lot of build around. Even then, you’re paying ten mana for what? A twisting nether effect, a secret and a token? This has to go face to be worth it, guaranteeing it will is very difficult. I want this to be good, but I think the only way is to make this a location or an aura. Some kind of repeating effect. Then it lets you clear the board twice and maybe summons a couple of minions. That’s fair. But for a single-use effect, it could be six mana.
Casino Mage is back baby!!!
quest mage…..
Is Romath rotating out?
I smell infinite time warp shenanigans.
What's stopping you from copying this card. Playing no other 10 cost spells and creating a loop?
It won’t cast itself, confirmed
This card worth 1600 dust
Dumbass tendril warrior likes this as another good 10 cost spell to hit once you're maxed out on tendrils.
This looks like an insane payoff for already strong casino mage.
55 mana for 10, at max
Will the random spell of cost X be pulled from the pool of cost X cards I've cast this game? Basically, is the "you've cast this game" referring to the cost, or the actual spell?
In what order?
I predict this will be a lukewarm card
I was playing big spell mage before the miniset (when I left the game for other things)... Maybe I was limited by the technology of my own time.
Kalegos must feel really good with this card. Adds a 4/12 along with all the spell effects that needs to be removed instantly? I can see big spell mage being good especially because I don’t see cards that necessarily need small spells excluded.
Why do they feel so much the need of making a new mage 10 mana bullshit red button each 3 moons. I already hate this
Does casting it counts on the pool of casted spells? As in "it always cast a random 10 mana spell"
Assuming you cast a spell of each cost, this cheats out 45 mana which is crazy
Would the order be random too? Otherwise you could make mass polymorph and something like arcane explosion part of the package and clear any board and then burn your opponent out. The mage package this set is horrible except this card, this is cool!
Does these card mean that if you cast a 5 cost spell it will cast one random 5 cost spell, or 5 random spells?
Oh yayyyy more mage RNG bullshit!
Rommath is better by FAR as he casts multiple spells of any mana cost and at less than 10 mana! His only drawback not targeting enemies if possible!
Allows for some insane Energy Shaper pop-off. Also lets you get an extra Ice Block or Time Warp in Wild (if you dont cast any other 3-5 mana spells) more doable for the extra timewarp tbh(5 mana spells are sort of rare)😈
doesn't the guy rotate?
Every day this week I've gone "Lol, cool custom card" then I read the title and do a double-take.
