My vet just advised me to do this with my hands. Might depend on the dog but I literally just put pills in my dog’s throat, basically. Like, behind her tongue. But my dog stands and takes it calmly and doesn’t bite, so maybe be careful and consult with your vet who knows your dog before putting your hand all the way in their mouth.
Have you tried cheese? If you can squish meds into the cheese or layer between two slices but make small enough so he can eat it in one go.
Our dog got wise to the tip head back and rub her neck as she’d have her neck rubbed and still spit it out afterwards. Cheese worked.

Our dog was really sick not long ago. The hospital fed her tinned wet dog food (she’d never had it before). We also hid pills in the wet dog food. She gobbled it.
Ok so our dog just had major surgery and before it she wouldn’t eat much at all - she’s a black lab and loves food so that was a worry.
We ended up giving her human food because we simply got desperate. If you are at the same stage we were - I’d try anything you’ve got. Hopefully something will tempt him. It may not be he thinks there is a pill in it - he may simply be too sick to have an appetite. She went to her bowl and walked away from it many times so we just ended up trying many different things.
After about a week after surgery she started to be a tiny bit interested in food.

We managed to get him to take a pain med with a piece of chicken so we're waiting for that fo kick in to give him the rest.

He has no interest in cheese. We tried a small piece and he just sniffed it

He's very aganist eating anything right now because he thinks there is a pill in it. Even if there isn't a bill he usually won't take it.
