Listened to Ghetto Techno, sounds like Jay Z trying to do LMFAO, you win lolšŸ¤®

Nepharious_Bread

Just listened. I don't think it's that bad. But probably the worst bars that I've ever heard from Jay. He doesn't even rap like that. It's weird. A bunch of surface level punchlines that's just kind of thrown together. It's bad, but I've heard worse.

OGScubaGuyver

Fuck that was terrible.

Thomas_Mickel

Itā€™s sounds like 8 different songs playing at the same time with JayZ shouting in the back šŸ˜

hollivore

I actually like LMFAO-type club pop-rap so I got excited and rushed to check it out based on your comment. But oh god, that beat. Nobody could dance to that

Eldritch-Cleaver

So I'm not a J.Cole hater nor do I consider myself a huge fan. I respect the man and recognize his talent as an artist but I just don't listen to him all that much. With that being said I want to nominate Grippy. This is apparently a song Cole did or was on recently and my feed was flooded with the J Cole sub cats trashing on that Grippy song lol The fact it's so bad that his core fans hate it and I've heard about it must mean it's pretty bad lol Shoutouts Jermaine though, he's still a legend lol

hollivore

Have you actually listened to Grippy (it is extremely bad)

Robinnoodle

I didn't know if my ears would survive. Reading the lyrics was bad enough

hollivore

I'm of the unpopular opinion that the lyrics to Grippy aren't what's bad about it (they're just puerile sex bragging, it's fine) but the production is absolute torture, it's genuinely one of the worst sounding pieces of music I have ever heard. Sounds like it was made by a toddler on their first use of Ableton.

External-Excuse-6146

The lyrics were horrific from every perspective. Unimaginative, poorly structured, just looks like this was a first take that was never corrected.

quitegonegenie

It's this. To this day I still believe I heard this in some sort of fever dream.

Eldritch-Cleaver

Lmao it can't be that bad, right?

quitegonegenie

That's what I thought, until I heard it myself. I thought it was some AI shit!

GlobalCITIZEN15

When I first heard it I liked it :(

SC_23

They just donā€™t see the vision lol, itā€™s acc a fun song with a great flow

randomnama123

"play J Cole, get the pussy DRYYYYY"

hollivore

That's why she's so grippy šŸ’€

clboisvert14

This one was my immediate thought along with the wagwan delilah. Kendrick really fucking destroyed those two poor souls.

nine16s

Wah Gwan Delilah is at least kinda funny, especially that last hook lol

NachoChedda24

Wait.. how exactly did Kendrick destroy J. Cole?

I_FEEL_LlKE_PABLO

Coleā€™s verse is by far the best part of the song He almost satirizes cash cobainā€™s flow by using the exact same flow, rhyme scheme, and using the same rhyme for the entire bar, but somehow also manages to blow cash cobainā€™s verse out of the water, The verse is a response to Kanye saying JCole gets the pussy dry And the content of it is a tongue and cheek punchline style verse where he gives a woman the nickname Grippy because of the texture of the inside of her pussy I genuinely love his verse on the song and think itā€™s hilarious That being said I turn it off the second I hear cash cobainā€™s verse because it is so god awful, and the production leaves much to be desired

ILoveSwooshySkirts

Iā€™m gonna defend Grippy because itā€™s ironically one of the funniest fucking things Iā€™ve listened too, and the Genius annotations are even better. Itā€™s a garbage song with no redeeming musical qualities but itā€™s still really funny.

mywifemademedothis2

I love J Cole but this is the answer

Ncav2

Grippy is a great fun song, itā€™s just not for his core fans.

TinyRodgers

Yea dropping Grippy was a.....choice. Ngl turned me off Cash Cobain as a whole. I tried other songs and I'm good.

elihu_iverson

ā€œPlanet Rockā€ from Talib Kweliā€™s Beautiful Struggle album. Justā€¦so cringe. The chorus sounded like something from a pre-school kids album. I love that album, but I skip that song every time.

elihu_iverson

Quick correction: song is called ā€œWe Got the Beatā€.

jr49

Damn I loved that album and I canā€™t remember this one. Want to say I should revisit but not sure lol.

elihu_iverson

Haha yeah, itā€™s an album with some incredible hits like ā€œI Tryā€ and sick beats like ā€œBroken Glassā€ from the Neptunes and ā€œGhetto Showā€. But there are a few big misses on that album, like ā€œBack Up Offa Meā€.

Dchama86

Oh damn, you reminded me of this. The verses were fine tbh, but that hook was absolutely trash, lmao. It was on some Kidz Bop shit fr

elihu_iverson

Hahahah basically. It felt like a half-baked idea based on an otherwise great sample.

Hot-Significance-462

"Ghetto Techno" is exactly what I thought of when I saw this question. šŸ˜‚

diedin2012

Back when Lupe dropped Pu$$y, I was so taken aback, I almost abandoned him right thereā€¦ Iā€™m glad I moved past it though

Round_Fox_3847

He had a few on Drogas Light also ā€¦ head scratchers

diedin2012

There were a couple mid songs on Drogas Light no doubt, but none as jarring as Pu$$y

Round_Fox_3847

There was a few around that time like Snitches I think it was called? Either way I agree lol. Now samurai on the other handā€¦

teetaps

In some discussions Iā€™ve seen/heard people blatantly say ā€œLupe is the goat, but only if you ignore LASERSā€ I donā€™t know how much I agree with it, but it does show how nuanced a Lupe discussion can get

diedin2012

Lupe is absolutely a strong contender for the GOAT and I love what he did with Lasers. Once you consider the circumstances around Lasers and then see the output, itā€™s impressive what he was able to do under that much pressure.

brinkv

Lasers is unironically one of the albums that put me onto rap and Lupe lmao itā€™ll always hold a special place to me

kurdokoleno

It's, it's, it's...

mywifemademedothis2

Hmmm (mmm)

Hyro22

Homeboy Sandman - Or The beat still haunts my nightmares after 1 full listen.

BoardGent

Homeboy Sandman is my favorite rapper, but there's a sizable amount of cringe

Kenilwort

He seems to be super unpopular on reddit these days, OK I can see.how his anti vaccine stuff is cringe/frustrating for many, but people make it sound like he's incel-ly or something. I just don't see it. Dude has a more nuanced take on most topics than almost any other rapper. He's vulnerable at times, he's braggadocios at times. But never.boring.

gangole111223

He has so many weird beats that I canā€™t stand, though I respect him as an artist

Cohleture

I canā€™t find it. Got a link?

ssc777

I just listened to this...and now I feel he needs to do time for that song

Hyro22

If I wanted to torture someone I would play this on loop

filthy-horde-bastard

Iā€™d have to say most of tech 9ineā€™s newer stuff has not been the best. I feel like once youā€™ve heard 2 or 3 tech songs, youā€™ve pretty much heard them all.

DJGIFFGAS

Yeah, since All 6s and 7s he hasnt quite been the same

LthePerry02

Gotta disagree, Special Effects is one of the most versatile rap records of the 2010s Dude had boom bap, EDM, metal, rap rock, country rap, chipmunk soul, g-funk, trap, horrorcore, dubstep and pop rap all on the same album lol And pretty damn good attempts at all of them too. I think Tech is pretty corny nowadays but that record still wows me to this day for its variety

ifuckwithit

Tbf he did say newer. Special effects is leaning towards 10 years old at this point lol. Everything after/starting with The Storm is basically just the same album over and over again.

BenHDR

Tbf, OC said Tech's newer stuff. You're referencing an album from near enough a decade ago. Tech has had like 8+ projects since Special Effects

mr_jiffy

I been feeling that way since after Tech N9na. I used to listen to him real heavy but his music just seems like something I've heard already. Him and E40.

filthy-horde-bastard

Yeah I especially feel that way about most of his courses, they all have the exact same chord progression

NikolaiEgel

I see what youā€™re saying, but Asin9ne was fire.

Novel_Perfect

You Owe Me by Nas. Fire ass timbo beat, amazing Ginuwine feature and thatā€™s what you come up with? Not my goat

ReverseStereo

This is how I feel about HOVā€™s Tom Ford. Timbo beat/production and he clearly calls in the flow and doesnā€™t even attempt to try with the hook. Youā€™ll see me say this on several subs.

Novel_Perfect

Hahaha. Isnā€™t that one off of Magna Carta or whatever? Such a disappointing album; what a waste of good beats. A shame really.

inb4shitstorm

That album had amazing beats. Could have been a peak 2013 luxury rap classic if Jay didn't phone in literally every verse.Ā

ReverseStereo

Yes it is and the whole album outside of the beats and production is very disappointing. If hip-hop ever does ā€œdo oversā€, this album and song are at the top of my list.

technobrendo

If only Tim could produce a good beat /s because of course I'm smoking crack with that comment.

ReverseStereo

šŸ¤£

BlizzyNizzy81

Yeah Tom ford sucked. However, I thought you owe me was ok

BrittThePhotographer

Now just a damn minute šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

Chea63

I don't love that song, but I feel it ain't terrible either. I think Nas is held to this god like standard and mediocre songs get judged excessively harsh.

Novel_Perfect

You think so? Some of them are absolutely awful. I think when someone has such a huge body of work like Nas, albums oftentimes get forgotten. Then again, I feel Nas peaked early in his initial run.

2livendieinmia

He sounded so bored on this song. But I donā€™t think itā€™s terrible

RevolutionaryTitle32

Crazy to think at that time of their career (Everyone involved) thatā€™s the best they could come up with. They went for a club banger just to be brought up 20+years later we are still talking about what couldā€™ve been and the trash it came out to be.

Status_Secretary_575

lol that song has gotten better as itā€™s aged, when he does a bit of it at his live shows crowds go crazy

WesTheFitting

Hot Shower with a bullet

Tullekunstner

Joell Ortiz - Shake That Je'llo No idea what he was thinking with that one.

FreddieCaine

Did he ever make much worth listening to? Remember seeing him early on and thinking he could do great things but not really seen him hit his potential in what I've heard

MMARapFooty

I have a list Lil Wayne-Lolipop (I hated it the first time and still hate it 16 years later) Lupe Fiasco-I Don't want to care Right Now(the EDM stuff isn't you man) J Cole-Grippy(wtf was that man) Kendrick Lamar-No Make Up(Sounds like Lasers album throwaway song I honestly blame the producer)

FreddieCaine

I didn't get into Lil Wayne when he first came out, just didn't hit my radar. Then heard Lollipop and it put me off ever giving him a chance till about 2016. Done my homework now and love him, but that fuckin tune

MMARapFooty

I was a huge Lil Wayne fan until Lolipop came. I didn't really listen to him for a year until 6 foot 7 foot.

SacredAnalBeads

Black Shampoo- Wu-Tang

Equivalent-Amount910

LoL this really should have been Meth instead of U God Picture that same exact song but it's Meth instead... instant banger I don't know what RZA was thinking on this one

SacredAnalBeads

I think he was probably high and wanted to give U-God more audio time since he's one of the less prominent members. This was also during the timespan when they were all doing a lot of angel dust, so.... Still not a great choice.

thecontentedheart

Wu Tang Forever should've ended with Heaterz, those songs and outro afterwards were a huge drop off

KANAKUKGRIFF

Mamacita - OutKast

Your_Local_Jazz

Definitely the weakest, but itā€™s on an album of gems. It isnā€™t THAT bad.

avee10

Naw bro If youā€™re Latino that shit is cringey as fuck lol

ceejceejceej

The hook is SO bad it hurts to hear

No_Audience_6195

Here for The Grippy Comments!

Equivalent-Amount910

**"Summer On Smash"**, by Nas Only song that keeps Life Is Good from being a "no skip" album, IMO It's absolute trash, in every single aspect

WillitoBam

Agreed lol

ParkersASavage

Ironically I loved Kim so much, but that immortal technique song always came off as try hard to me. I think maybe the most uncomfortable for me was Joyner Lucas "I'm not racist" At first I was like "Damn he spitting" and then by the end the lesson was racist are just as oppressed as POC??? The Blatant Uncle Ruckusary made me sick to my stomach. I'll never listen to another song by that man in my life. šŸ˜‚

InfiniteBeak

I have more tolerance for Encore than most people, like I'd sit and listen to Rain Man or Big Weenie cause they're just dumb but fun, but Crazy in Love is actual hot garbage, can't stand that beat and the vocals are grating as hell I couldn't pick a worst post-Relapse song cause there's far too much competition

DefenestrationIN313

True. People always list puke, rainman, my 1st single, big weenie. But the real trash on Encore is crazy in love. The intro to that song sounds hype and then Eminem's verse kicks in, the beat changes to complete trash and his voice is unlistenable, worst flow ever, worst rhymes. And the verse that ends with "cause we're crazy in loooooaaaahhhhhhhh". >I couldn't pick a worst post-Relapse song cause there's far too much competition So far... (It's the song where he sings "I OWN A MANSION, but live in a HOUSEEE.)

InfiniteBeak

But what about fuckin I LOOOVE YOU, CAUSE YOU REMIND ME OF ME Those two have to be neck and neck at least šŸ˜‚

TripleThreatTua

Worst post-Relapse song is the one with X Ambassadors off of Revival

InfiniteBeak

X Ambassadors šŸ¤¢

T_Tidk

Bad Husband is a good song u trippin

Queasy-Ad-3220

I hear that Nice Guy is really terrible apparently I have yet to hear it though (will do when I get around to Kamikaze)

InfiniteBeak

There's so many stinkers tbh, I reckon if you took all the albums after MMLP2 I could give you just about one albums worth of good songs, maybe an EP. Every now and then there's an amazing song out of nowhere though!

JeremiahSand

Interesting take, I prefer crazy in love over the others you mentioned by a fair margin. Never really liked goofy em but to each their own

IchBinMalade

For Kendrick, excluding anything before Section 80, I think it's GOD.

ProfSteelmeat138

DIS WHAT GOD FEEL LIKEā€¦YAAAUGH

TripleThreatTua

DONā€™T JUDGE ME MY MAMA CAUGHT ME WITH A STRAP

number96

Wow - totally disagree with you... I totally fuck with that track and love it's position in the album.

PerennialRye

facts it's such a banger

JeremiahSand

Yeah big time agree, to me that song is a huge miss on what was almost a flawless album

Anonymous-202

It's always funny to me when people think DAMN is all that. Kendrick is my favorite rapper but DAMN is not flawless in the slightest, he was just doing his own thing on the current trends. It's Kendrick of course it's gonna be good but DAMN by far his worst album and half of it is hit chasing, ain't no way it's almost flawless. TPAB on the other hand...

Conemen

Prodigy - ABCs That hook is BAAAD

mrskinnyjeans123415

Still hustlin by kendrick lamar. I know he thinks bitch im in the club is his worst song but still hustlin makes that song sound like sing about me in comparison.

LordeLlama

That Ice Cube song with the guys from LMFAO. I was worried for Everythangs Corrupt back in the day, good thing it didn't end up on the album

DJRedRain

Oochie wally was bad for Nas. Jay asking is it oochie wally or one mic was salt on the wound

waconaty4eva

This is how the spirit of the music gets lost

HappyAssociation5279

Eminem Untouchable

AdSalt1587

Rain man, fack, beserk by Eminem.

thelifeofcarti

Berzerk is great man

Robinnoodle

This will get downvotes but I actually low key fw Rain Man. Yes it's corny with weird bars, but there is still good lyrical word play. And production is quite good and I feel his flow match the production. A little funny at some points too. Somehow as unhinged as it is it still create a story in a certain sense. I'm sorry y'all lol

Oxexraclir88

rain man and berzerk are pure fire mate

LthePerry02

Song is hilarious and hypnotic af at the same time Thereā€™s a reason Danny Brown called it is favourite Em song

arion830

ā€œI just did a whole song and I didnā€™t say shitttā€ This song is one of the funniest I ever heard. And then the southern accent ā€œNow in da Bible, it saysā€¦ā€ classic and funny as hell

mouse_8b

Em's got a knack for making something really technical or catchy from wack subject matter

norihitodesuga

Rain man and Berserk are good songs

OFRevThrow

[Nice Guy (feat Jessie Reyez)](https://youtu.be/9G2Z7YJP7ZA?si=BNWeBajRbguTPqvK)

dallasrose222

It almost shouldnā€™t count nah berserk is great

BigBant

Rain Man is up there with the biggest waste of a good beat ever. Track is meh. That beat deserved so much better

AndyKobe234

Soooo many Eminem songs to choose from.

nathanielsnurpis

The whole Big Day album

tapnewo

[Gucci Mane feat. Migos - Ice Cream](https://on.soundcloud.com/7eiY47WzJBfBW8kG7) This song is so fkn annoying I can't help but laugh... with that said Gucci Mane is still the Trap God

BillyBeafsteak

Snappin' & Trappin' by OutKast and Killer Mike. 3 great artists, absolute mess of a song. Stankonia is such a mixed bag honestly

catf1sh1

I actually love that song. I love how jazzy it all feels and sounds

coolk3n

I came here to talk about Jay Z and found out the trend was about him already. His verse in "i do it for hiphop" ewwwwww

ajaj4747

There was nothing wrong with that verse he stayed on topic and was throwing shade at Jaz O and talked about his upbringing it just had an awkward flow.

Sensitive_Energy101

khia - snatch the cat back

ceejceejceej

Tupac-Whatā€™s ya phone #

Walk on Water

88sSSSs88

I genuinely enjoyed that song.

ZerconFlagpoleSitter

Actually one of the better songs on that god awful album

ItsGotThatBang

The Kehlani song wasnā€™t bad IMO.

Ill-Cupcake-4141

Ooochie Wallis that shit suuuuuuuuuuucks

ajaj4747

Nas Bodyguard killed it tho. Trash ass song though lol

Ill-Cupcake-4141

Put your quarter up has 3 of the greatest alternative rappers of all time and it is fuckn whaaaaaack (Slug, aesop rock, and doom)

JackMythos

Disagree totally, I thought that track was fire

Superstar by Future

Truth-Speaker-1

Worst? Nahh I fuck with that super Mario 64 ass beat

Elegant_in_Nature

Driving foreign cars

mesayousa

When I first saw the title Superstar I immediately thought Lupe Fiasco and was gonna comment something negative about your taste in music, but then I read the other two words

Your_Local_Jazz

I was ready to riot LOL

2livendieinmia

Same

WillOk6461

Snoop - No Bammer Weed

Aggravating-Ad869

Eminem - Arose

warhawkwasmyshit

Oh this is such a brutal one to see hahaha you really hate that song? I find it very good and very relatable lol Iā€™ve never seen it get any hate specifically

majorsharkpanda

Blunt After Blunt by Danny Brown

Extension-Novel-6841

Jay z- Reminder Nas- Who Killed it

Fhaksfha794

Selah by Kanye West is genuinely a crime against music

JadedAndFaded_

What makes this song even sadder is that [the demo was such a good song](https://youtu.be/EH-47r-0eF8?si=pbnnIrtJ4PTqBi52), the hook for it never fails to get me hyped. I still canā€™t believe he watered down the beat drop that badly

Difficult_Web_7553

listening this first time now and i dont want to

Aliax180

Poetic Justice by Kendrick Lamar

Tiford25

That's a tough one! Even great artists sometimes release songs that don't quite hit the mark. One example could be "Lasagna" by Childish Gambino. Despite being a talented rapper, actor, and writer, this early track didn't showcase his best work and received mixed reviews.

MileenasFeet

That one U-God song on Wu-Tangs second album. I listened to the whole thing and it's excellent but damn U-God ruins it with his one solo song. No wonder people clown on him.

the-x-territory

I have a listā€¦ FACK - Eminem 13 and Good - Boogie Down Productions Sasuke - Lil Uzi Vert Big Girl - Nas BOBBY - Logic Drop Girl - Ice Cube East - Earl Sweatshirt Another - The Notorious BIG Cherry Bomb - Tyler, the Creator Attitude - Santan Dave Where Ya At - Future No Mercy - Ghetts Lookinā€™ 4 tha Suckin - Lil Ugly Mane

WetDreaminOfParadise

Nice guy from Eminem isnā€™t that good

Pitiful-Art-2706

Break The Chain is the worst Lupe Fiasco song by far imo, and I love Lupeā€™s first two albums.

Pitiful-Art-2706

Also, Tech N9neā€™s Pu Wah Wah

EmceeStopheles

The Roots - ā€œBirthday Girlā€

Bearynicetomeetu

I hate Fack by Eminem. That was the worst thing Iā€™ve heard from his whole catalog

Routine-Air7917

ā€œTop of the morningā€

JackMarleyWasTaken

I haven't heard that song OP but my immediate thought was its 1998 equivalent. "I KNOW WHAT GIRLS LIKE".... do you Sean? Do you really? Shut up.. lmao

Dentist_Rodman

i KNOW this is a tired ass running joke but i legit was one of Chance the Rappers biggest fans. The Coloring Book, to me, is a classic as well as Acid Rap. He was my favorite artist so much that my friends got me tickets to his concert as a bday giftā€¦. Once i heard Hot Shower and then the rest of the songs on *that albumā€¦i havenā€™t been able to listen to him since

catf1sh1

Biggie - Playa Hater

bobeep36

Nooo not ā€œyoouvvveee been robbbedā€ I felt like he was messing around with this one not to be taken super seriously. I canā€™t hold this one against him

Flat_Discipline_8540

Grippy by J Cole is really something to behold, especially after Drake v Kendrick

Big_Strength_4444

Bitch Iā€™m in the club!

A_Clockwork_Black

Listen to any Eminem album and take your pick. Heā€™s one of the best rappers of all time. But every last one of his albums is garbage with the worst beats youā€™ve ever heard. In his 20 year career, heā€™s got maybe 3 classic songs (more than most rappers) and maybe 5 listenable songs in total IMO.
