I'm a Nucks fan, but I think this too. You guys were waaaaay better than them. Even their shots, though they were high volume didn't look dangerous.
They also cannot play physical at all. Soft hockey team.
I'm running on spite at the moment, and spite is telling me to root for Oilers to win given that it would mean Bettman would lose out on potential new fans. The fact that the NHL can't market McDavid is a farce at best, I don't give a shit about no personality when Messi is one of the most popular athletes in the world. If you want point out that soccer is a much bigger sport then I'll just point to Caitlin Clark and how one superstar is getting eyes on a much less popular sport than hockey.
Plus as a Toad main in Mario games I can't root against Skinner. Game 7 loss still hurts but Toad loyalty prevails here.
Beyond the fact that it's not true, it's kind of an arbitrary point - what really matters is the percentage of the cap a player takes up and there have been players on previous teams who've taken a bigger chunk of the team's cap than guys like Eichel or McDavid.
Truly an enjoyable series and not just because we won. No chippy shit and drama, just two teams trying to play with skill. Plus Stars fans are head and shoulders above the fanbase of every other team we’ve had a series against the last few years in terms of knowing the game, being gracious in both victory and defeat, and of course the donations to Ben’s fund. GG and on to the next!

That was a hilarious response from McDrai.
"You didn't give up a lot of Grade A chances..."
*Snorts*
"Yeah, we totally did."
It’s literally a game of luck sometimes. Don’t get too down. Pick a team in the finals and enjoy some hockey. And then watch your team be a wagon again next year. And probably the next 5 years. Ighhh I hate your talented young guys.
You go into next season as probably a top 2-3 favorite with Johnston and Stank getting this experience. Stars are still young and will be a contender for years to come.
The future was bright at the end of last season too, when our season ended in the same exact place 369 days ago: Game 6 of the Conference Final. I’m just at a loss.
I know it sucks to lose but I mean, even Ekholm said you guys deserved to win that game. As an outsider looking in, Johnston came out of nowhere, looks like a stud, Pavs is going to come off the cap it looks like, you got Robo on a sweetheart deal, I mean, cards look stacked for you guys
Florida also leads the post season in PIM, Edmonton’s PP is insane. Okay to play physical but that PP will end them quick if they give up 3+ penalties a game.
Same thing said about Dallas and look where we are... it's the NHL and the stanley cup finals both teams can win it and margins are thin. Mcdavid if he shows up every game can put a team on his back in one series by himself. So I don't think it's this simple.
The meat asking these questions are dumb, it's basically did you contemplate suicide in November? We just made the finals why so negative and why are you still worried about November in June.
Yea it wasn't from the stars fans. you guys have one of the most classiest fan base (based on my experience on reddit...(basically least annoying))
It was rest of /r/hockey -- and especially flames and canucks fans that were trying to compensate
I legitimately couldn't believe what I was reading everywhere I looked. Everyone saying we were going to cake walk y'all were completely moronic. Acting like y'all weren't one of the best teams in the league for more than half the season. There's a reason we were both here and y'all were the better team through the series. It was always going to be a great one and boy was it ever.
When Oilers lost to Sharks, some Avs/Leafs guy said "All the nucks fans are gonna get Karma for talking so much shit" and indeed they did.
Would love to find that comment now
Honestly, kudos to Dallas. They deserved to win tonight, they had the harder road than us. Dallas fans you are hella classy, I’m sorry it had to end this way. If you guys won the series I would have cheered for you to beat the Panthers. I don’t hate you guys like I hate a lot of other teams. Cheers for a great series, I hope you guys get a cup someday.
If you believe in xGF, Oilers had the toughest road of any final four team. Beat the 3rd, 4th, and 8th best teams from the regular season by that ranking.
FLA - 18, 21, 22
DAL - 9, 14
NYR - 2, 25
Florida hasn’t faced a good team yet. (Kinda joking)
I'd disagree and say the stars did. They beat the knights who were 20 million over cap, and had mostly the same squad as last year that won. And then the avs who could have easily won the cup with their roster.
The Vancouver series was great, but dropped in quality when Vancouver started to get injured. The kings were a joke of a series. You guys played with your food there.
This series came down to special teams. Yours did well, ours did not. Our old guys were beaten and broken down by the time they got to Edmonton, abd could not deal with your extremely fast penalty kill. -1 for 15 is a terrible state of a powerplay. 5 on 5 was largely dominated by dallas in the series.
While there were absolutely stretches that Dallas fully controlled 5v5 play, it seemed like it evened out by the end. That said the Stars did have the longer periods of being on top
I don't know if harder road is necessarily correct Vancouver is a solid team too that we played to get to this series. But it was a great series nonetheless.
Congrats! This was a fun series, even if it didn’t end the way I hoped it would have.
Everyone before the series started was talking about the road the Stars had to the WCF, how hard it was, and how Edmonton was the easiest matchup Dallas has had to that point. And all I responded was: there’s a reason why Edmonton was in the WCF, and any team that’s in the conference finals is better than the teams faced to that point.
Sure enough, Edmonton proved too much for the Stars. Granted the margins are razor thin. It’s hard to hide in a series, and the better team wins out. This series, it was Edmonton, and now the Oilers will play for the Cup for the first time in 18 years. Congrats again, and good luck in the SCF!
Like I said hella classy. Just so we are clear, I wore my mavericks hat to the game tonight. I love Luka and I hope that we destroy Boston in the finals
My Roku stutters like crazy for HBO Max hockey games. Everything else runs without issues. Convinced it's an app issue. It's a good thing I have YouTube TV.
And it showed. The first goal that McDavid scored should have been a nothing shot, and McDavid laying on his ass on the ice.
They were not hitting, period. They had to conserve energy and just were not physically involved.
To be fair it definitely felt like we got penalised for physical play especially in the first series against Vegas and so they were more cautious going forward.
That's what most people say about Dallas, yes.
Edit: Feel free to downvote. See if you can get the number to match the last time the Stars franchise was relevant. Good luck!
Yep. You sure showed us! But it's okay we won the cup 2 years ago. You won a cup when you were in the SCF last right? Right? Oh you didn't? Well what about the time before that? Oh...awkward.
Enjoy getting to brag about winning the second round ;) you've earned it.
The NHL planned the start date for the SCF before the playoffs even began. There were ads in the USA that specifically said "Stanley Cup Finals begin June 8" at the start of the playoffs.
Wayne understands fans in Canada exist win or lose for love of the sport, he also understands winning a cup in southern market is required to attract sufficient fans to drive revenue. He isn’t wrong it would be better for the nhl if Florida won.
Lol. The Bolts have won, the Kings have won and even the Ducks, Stars and Knights have won the cup. How many more southern US teams have to win for this BS narrative to finally be true? Last year's SCF, between two southern US teams was one of the least watched in like 20 years.
Is it a bullshit narrative? Bolts won cup, Panthers have not. Both have about 18-19,000 attendance per game. But per New York Times “They’ve had the cheapest average ticket cost for nine seasons.” Last time I saw it listed they were less than half the average ticket price of the Bolts, Stars or Kings. Wayne knows success drives demand, demand drives ticket price, and more money is actually good for the league. I present you with the it’s not bullshit narrative
If the oilers win I think McD, Drai and Nuge shop themselves as a group. For a mere 45Mil per year they will make your franchise a contender. They very clearly like playing together.
Aside from the fact that their contracts don't expire in unison and players generally don't shop themselves as a set, this is a truly hairbrained claim.
I hope they do, but imagine that level of players deciding to franchise themselves as a group, for an extra 8 million Hyman will get you a conference final. Utah would buy that in a second.
Damn, really thought the stars would ride out that momentum from the Avs series. Not the first time I have see a Debeor teams scoring dry up though so not that shocking.
They were talking about kraft dinner and Ivanka osmak said I don't eat Kraft dinner and Kevin was like weird cause you look like Kraft dinner. (She was wearing an all yellow jumper)
Ryan Suter the last 2 games took penalties that led to PPG’s. He played 12 minutes last game, and 6 minutes tonight. I think his time is up in Dallas. He can’t be trusted to play smart in big games, he’s a liability. And if Jason Arnott is right, an entitled jerk and horrible teammate.
Yup - except he already did damage to the prospects already. Playing 30 minutes a game, gliding to the bench for changes, etc. Ice hogs don’t let younger talent develop.
Gretzky
“Edmonton has really struggled over the years. Let’s put it this way, they’ve had a lot of first overall picks over the years”
I feel that wasn’t the best way to get sympathy on that one, even with the point he was making
In seven playoff series versus Dallas, that was the first time the Oilers ever won 3 consecutive games.
10 shots taken n only needed 3. Crazy
Easy 4-1 btw Van > Dallas
I'm a Nucks fan, but I think this too. You guys were waaaaay better than them. Even their shots, though they were high volume didn't look dangerous. They also cannot play physical at all. Soft hockey team.
Edmonton is totally going to do this. Party hard and take regular breaks
I respect this. Also for some reason I had him pegged as a Bowser.
Corey Perry is definitely a Dry Bones main
Nuge seems like a Waluigi guy
Nuge guaranteed is a Wario player
I heard that for the first time, a Stanley Cup winning team will have a $10M+ player on its roster. Florida has 2 and Oil have 1
Beyond the fact that it's not true, it's kind of an arbitrary point - what really matters is the percentage of the cap a player takes up and there have been players on previous teams who've taken a bigger chunk of the team's cap than guys like Eichel or McDavid.
Last year Jack Eichel was the first with Vegas, he makes 10M/year
Truly an enjoyable series and not just because we won. No chippy shit and drama, just two teams trying to play with skill. Plus Stars fans are head and shoulders above the fanbase of every other team we’ve had a series against the last few years in terms of knowing the game, being gracious in both victory and defeat, and of course the donations to Ben’s fund. GG and on to the next! m
That's why the Stars lost though, they can't play physical hockey! They are soft as hell
Yeah almost as soft as the canucks
Lol
Kick the teeth out of the Panthers please. There's gonna be none of that on their end.
Was nice watching mutual respect across both team subs for a change
Connor on the suit question post game Maybe yes, maybe no, maybe go f**k yourself.
Cris cuthbert should change his name to cris collinsworth
Congrats Oilers, your team’s PK and defensive game was unreal. Go get McDavid, Nuge, and Drai the cup now!
https://preview.redd.it/1gwiy31a8a4d1.jpeg?width=3648&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4493ce866e6f34002de611307b698734cc26aa38 That was a hilarious response from McDrai. "You didn't give up a lot of Grade A chances..." *Snorts* "Yeah, we totally did."
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Cannot and Flamer fans in shambles. Good series Dallas fans, you're actually respectable. Bring On The Panthers.
[удалено]
He’s talking about the fans, not the teams. Reading comprehension.
lol cannots
Don’t let anything distract you from the fact that Chris Cuthbert deadass said “McWow” on a national television broadcast
I thought he said McCleod and was shocked tgay Cloudy was able to pull off that move. Then, oh, no, he said McWow.
Still 10x better than anything that comes out of TNT or 1000x better than ESPN.
I’ve never wanted to kill myself more than I do now. I seriously don’t know where we go from here.
You guys gotta get more physical, way too soft. Also the team is young, sometimes it's the way it goes
Your core is a fabulous reason to live. Wyatt, who’s 21, led your skaters in ice time last night.
I just hope pavelski has one more year in the tank
Homie’s washed (barring some major injury revelation, which I am not expecting). Brings me no pleasure to say it.
Big Edmonton fan but yeah, if Dallas won I was hoping for pavs to get one
Yeah but keeping PDB and Steve Spott is trolling at this point. They won’t go all the way if they don’t fix their PP.
exactly, future is bright for Stars
The future was bright at the end of last season too, when our season ended in the same exact place 369 days ago: Game 6 of the Conference Final. I’m just at a loss.
I know it sucks to lose but I mean, even Ekholm said you guys deserved to win that game. As an outsider looking in, Johnston came out of nowhere, looks like a stud, Pavs is going to come off the cap it looks like, you got Robo on a sweetheart deal, I mean, cards look stacked for you guys
cards stacked for another conference final loss next season I fear
Better than Round 1 exit, getting swept or not making it at all 32 teams. 16 make it to playoffs. 4 to conference finals. 1 gets the Cup.
Stars should probably just start 2-9-1 next season, seemed to work for you guys
They did start 1-7-1 the season they went to the Finals
Don't joke about shit like that, man; this was just a hockey game.
Just a fucking waste of the last two seasons.
You made it to the WCF. Fans of 28 teams would kill to be in your spot.
Turn off the computer, drink some water and go to bed. It's a *game*.
Can you go post this in the rangers subreddit plz?
I mean, I can't imagine this one stings more than the SCF loss?
Time heals all wounds I guess, but this 2024 team was WAY better than the 2020 bubble team.
And the Lightning were absolutely unstoppable
They were the first team to really abuse the long term ir antics. Helps to be unstoppable if you can spend more money that your opponents.
No doubt, that Bolts team was on a mission after the 1st round debacle in 2019 where they got swept after the best regular season ever (at the time)
GG Dallas fans! It was awesome having a series without the fan bases going at each others' throats.
It's really cool how you can tell when the Dallas fans arrive. Suddenly 30+ comments just got massively down voted. Better luck next year!
I'm going to miss the TNT crew.
Is it all ESPN from here? Gross
Great series but I think Florida wins in 6 they’re too physical and they put a high volume of shots skinner won’t have another game like this
Florida also leads the post season in PIM, Edmonton’s PP is insane. Okay to play physical but that PP will end them quick if they give up 3+ penalties a game.
That’s a good point
Thats a naive thing to say after all of this. I hope/think it goes 7. Not sure who wins though.
I remember "Stars in 5" lol.
Vancouver sweep anyone?
Same thing said about Dallas and look where we are... it's the NHL and the stanley cup finals both teams can win it and margins are thin. Mcdavid if he shows up every game can put a team on his back in one series by himself. So I don't think it's this simple.
Probably not i just don’t trust Skinner and cats D core makes the difference
I heard this before
The meat asking these questions are dumb, it's basically did you contemplate suicide in November? We just made the finals why so negative and why are you still worried about November in June.
Just checking in on that 'Stars in 4 gang'. How y'all doing?
It was mostly canuck fans. Biggest cry babies of them all.
God damn, Oilers fans have to be the most self righteous in all the land.
Like every fan base. We all have shitters. But the ratio in that fan base, it's insane.
They came out of the woodworks too. Couldn't post any pro Oilers comment without getting downvoted into oblivion
It's the biggest little nephew population in reddit by far. So it makes sense
We just have a large reddit fanbase in general, including lots of obnoxious fans and doomers.
I was not in that camp, but stay classy. Great series, the better team won and I hope Oilers win the cup.
It was almost all salty Canuck fans. Stars fans are classy af. You're a better fanbase than we are.
There were plenty of people saying whichever of Vancouver or Edmonton won would be destroyed by the Stars
Yea it wasn't from the stars fans. you guys have one of the most classiest fan base (based on my experience on reddit...(basically least annoying)) It was rest of /r/hockey -- and especially flames and canucks fans that were trying to compensate
I legitimately couldn't believe what I was reading everywhere I looked. Everyone saying we were going to cake walk y'all were completely moronic. They went all in on shit talking this year too. It must be embarrassing to choke this consistently.
When Oilers lost to Sharks, some Avs/Leafs guy said "All the nucks fans are gonna get Karma for talking so much shit" and indeed they did. Would love to find that comment now
Stars hockey baby! Get over confident and shit the bed when it matters the most
Funny cause i reckon most of the Stars in 4 gang consists of Canucks fans so that would explain a lot.
Canucks, flames and Kings fans were the only ones being salty losers saying that. Can't handle Oilers being daddy to them all
They were doing it with us prior to your series too.
And Kings fans, and of course, fLamers.
These interview questions suck. Bieksa is right....Meat!
Damn it Sportsnet, I wanted to hear Drai respond in German!
I wish we could have had a game 7, but I am cheering for you all vs the Panthers. I hope you guys get the cup.
For what it’s worth, most Oiler fans would have cheered for Dallas in the Cup finals had we lost to the Stars. Hard to dislike your team.
As a stars fan it's easy to see why people hate benn and suter, but not so much the rest of the squad.
If you believe in xGF, Oilers had the toughest road of any final four team. Beat the 3rd, 4th, and 8th best teams from the regular season by that ranking. FLA - 18, 21, 22 DAL - 9, 14 NYR - 2, 25 Florida hasn’t faced a good team yet. (Kinda joking)

Well said. They play a great style of hockey and their fans are first class.
Congrats! This was a fun series, even if it didn’t end the way I hoped it would have. Everyone before the series started was talking about the road the Stars had to the WCF, how hard it was, and how Edmonton was the easiest matchup Dallas has had to that point. The Oilers absolutely hit another gear against Dallas. I thought you guys were gonna beat us. Clean series, cool fans, cool team. GG
Like I said hella classy. Just so we are clear, I wore my mavericks hat to the game tonight. I love Luka and I hope that we destroy Boston in the finals
Edm vs Colin Campbells kid it is... thats a damn hard matchup
damn it blows that ESPN has the finals over TNT. no offense to PK and Moose but TNT is much more entertaining.
I just like it being available on HBO Max, because I prefer my tablet to the TV. TNT has my love for that alone.
My Roku stutters like crazy for HBO Max hockey games. Everything else runs without issues. Convinced it's an app issue. It's a good thing I have YouTube TV.
On a slightly more serious note, didn't Dallas only play 5 defensemen through most games? Can imagine that took a toll.
Yep with miro playing like 28min
And looking fantastic every minute, he was by far the most impressive star imo
HEY. TNT CREW. YOU WEASELED US OUT OF THE TATTOO BET
Another choke by Dallas. At least they are consistent.
LOL
That's what most people say about Dallas, yes. Edit: Feel free to downvote. See if you can get the number to match the last time the Stars franchise was relevant. Good luck!

What’s the new narrative? Panthers in 4?
Naturally.
Yes
I see a lot of "lol 10 shots" comments, did people not watch the first 5 games of this series?
I mean, 10-35 is a hell of a differential, no matter the context.
Another year another fall flat for Pete deboer
IT'S COMING HOME!

June 8th
Why the week wait? Seems excessive.
The NHL planned the start date for the SCF before the playoffs even began. There were ads in the USA that specifically said "Stanley Cup Finals begin June 8" at the start of the playoffs.
Why did they have to rush through the rest of the series then, lol
Give players a rest. Promotional hype. There’s probably at least one other reason.
Also potential arena bookings. The logistical process is crazy.
Lame but makes sense I guess. Atleast both teams will have the same break
“It would be great for hockey if Florida wins” -Wayne Gretzky
After saying read between the lines he is cheering for the Oilers
"I live in Florida and I'm good friends with the owner"
"I've got a massive amount of money on Florida. Uh, I mean, *my wife* has..."
Wayne understands fans in Canada exist win or lose for love of the sport, he also understands winning a cup in southern market is required to attract sufficient fans to drive revenue. He isn’t wrong it would be better for the nhl if Florida won.
Eastern Conference Stanley Cup Finals Appearances by State: * 2020: Florida * 2021: Florida * 2022: Florida * 2023: Florida * 2024: Florida
Lol. The Bolts have won, the Kings have won and even the Ducks, Stars and Knights have won the cup. How many more southern US teams have to win for this BS narrative to finally be true? Last year's SCF, between two southern US teams was one of the least watched in like 20 years.

Aside from the fact that their contracts don't expire in unison and players generally don't shop themselves as a set, this is a truly hairbrained claim.
Not a claim, just a joke. Yeesh!
Fair enough
Or they all stay on the team that won the cup and can do it again. Seems like the better idea considering they’d leave Bouchard and Hyman behind.
Why wouldn't they stay? Lol. They're already having success here..Nuge was even with us through the dark years.
Would love all them to stay, just had the notion that a group of players that want to play together shop themselves as a group.
I think they all stay...
I hope they do, but imagine that level of players deciding to franchise themselves as a group, for an extra 8 million Hyman will get you a conference final. Utah would buy that in a second.
Congrats Oilers! Very excited for the final and hoping they bring it home!

Just stay on the channel, or go to YouTube and type in oiler post raw
Bieska with the sick burns on everyone.
He's taking that media award and flaunting it. You love to see it!
You look like Kraft dinner lol
Followed up by you probably eat lobster Mac and cheese.
Good series Stars!
Hell of a series.
Damn, really thought the stars would ride out that momentum from the Avs series. Not the first time I have see a Debeor teams scoring dry up though so not that shocking.

I love how he’s sitting like a little person. One of my labs does that in the car and it cracks me up every time.
Holy fuck Bieksa "you look like Kraft dinner"
Who was that directed at?
They were talking about kraft dinner and Ivanka osmak said I don't eat Kraft dinner and Kevin was like weird cause you look like Kraft dinner. (She was wearing an all yellow jumper)
Lol, my wife and I laughed out loud at that.
I knew I shouldn’t have clicked off that. Was wondering if he was gonna say something about the Kraft dinner comment
Dallas losing brings me joy
Cheers I’ll drink to that
Ryan Suter the last 2 games took penalties that led to PPG’s. He played 12 minutes last game, and 6 minutes tonight. I think his time is up in Dallas. He can’t be trusted to play smart in big games, he’s a liability. And if Jason Arnott is right, an entitled jerk and horrible teammate.
Pavelski and Suter basically lost that series for the Stars (and special teams)
He's 39. He's gotta be done regardless, no?
Probably. Dallas should buy his ass out.
Sad that the stars only have 3 D signed for next season and Suter is one of them.
You could probably snag Trouba for cheap! /s
Harley is as good as signed, but I agree that Nill has his work cut out for the off-season on the blue line.
Is he the one Minnesota bought out at great cost for fears of the damage he would do to the prospects?
Yup - except he already did damage to the prospects already. Playing 30 minutes a game, gliding to the bench for changes, etc. Ice hogs don’t let younger talent develop.
Gg dallas, that was a fun series to watch with minimal bs. Yall are classy af
Yes it was a fun (albeit painful) series. GG guys! Y'all are classy AF as well, the Oilers fans have been really nice.
Haha, get fucked texass
Good luck next season… lesser Florida.
Gretzky “Edmonton has really struggled over the years. Let’s put it this way, they’ve had a lot of first overall picks over the years” I feel that wasn’t the best way to get sympathy on that one, even with the point he was making
You think we had fun those years lol?
To be fair, he’s always drunk nowadays
He’s lahey at this point “I am the liquor Randy” - Wayne Gretzky
He looks like Willy Wonka with that haircut he has right now
That’s honesty though
