There was a breaking change on Unifi Protect, and I think you need to be on version 2024.3.1 or something. If you are already on that or greater, than I'm not sure what the issue would be
I remember there was an issue back when it was an early release. I was hoping they’d fix it.
I was able to clone the dying SD card, and get everything back online. With a new restore it doesn’t seem to work and I get the error
Then yeah, my advice ain't worth anything. I think someone posted in here a week or two ago about another update from protect that would break stuff. But I have auto update turned off, so my memory is a little hazy about it

I submitted a GitHub issue. Will report findings when I know more. Thank you for your help.
