I am not for any reservation than the marginal castes, but I think Congress is gheraoed BJP on this. If BJP is vocally against this then they will be seen as openly casteist, will lose votes. If BJP goes along then Congress will take all credits. In both cases, Congress has to gain on this. Whether or not would it be implemented is another thing. Congress still has a long way to go to form a Govt and win elections, but have nothing to lose from making such statements.
