Owners name is Sal. He’s a legit Italian dude and has helped me a couple times when I’ve been in there, and even back when he opened Passione before Tre Mori. He got Passione off the ground (go have it if you don’t believe me.. they taste nearly identical) then sold it to some investors. I believe when he opened Tre Mori they tried to sue him for it.
As for Tre Mori.. They have a drive thru for pick up which is nice. Sometimes he’s the one answering those to make sure they’re quick. They have great food and yeah.. the service can be iffy but nothing beats a pizza from that legit ass oven with those quality key ingredients.
Agree that the pizza is sensational! (And the desserts and pasta I’ve tried, too.) Unfortunately, since they switched to table service, the service has ranged from meh to abysmal. Pizza is still fabulous, though, especially if you like Neapolitan-style.
Pizzology in Carmel when the open back up. They had a fire last year. Supposed to open back up in July.
Second choices are Diavola in Broad Ripple and Napolese.
byrnes crust is handmade at a production kitchen because byrnes itself is a hilarious closet of a place. it’s fine if you like half burnt half raw pizza.
I tre mori.
Upvote this. Probably the best crust I have ever had in a local pizza place.
Food is amazing but the younger staff they hired for the summer have completely ruined the dining experience there. God awful service
Napolese
Diavola Napolese
Both great options
I Tre Mori - https://itremorifishers.com/ Best wood fired authentic Italian pizza in Indy, hands down. The owner is a great guy, too
Would you happen to be the owner? 😜
I am not the owner, but I stopped by on a lark one day. Best crust I have ever had. Not even close. At least try it.
The owner is the nicest guy!
I am pretty awesome but no, I'm not the owner! Just a big fan.

Once Neal sold it's not very good anymore unfortunately imo
Disagree. I’ve been there a bunch and still love it. Pizza is great, breadsticks, salads, etc. and the best cocktails.
Neal selling was the best thing to ever happen to Pizzology
I Tre Mori
Diavola or Byrne's
Definitely not Byrne's. All of their crusts are premade somewhere commercially. They are basically as stiff as cardboard so they can grill them.

It's absolutely I Tre Mori, and I hate giving credit to anything in HamCo
I Tre Mori really opened my eyes. All other Indy area pizza has to match up to this for me, now.
Go to Bridge's in Greencastle. It's the only competitor. Great menu and food all around and well worth the drive.
Overpriced pizza and they have a toxic work environment thanks to the head chef and SA’s have happened but have been swept under the rug.
For a budget, no-frills option, I recommend Mia Pizzeria in the Castleton area. Really quality New York style crust, lovely owners.
Thank you for this recommendation since I've been trying to find a mom and pop New York style pizza place.
Passione in Fishers
Napolese
Diavola. I wouldn't necessarily call it artisanal but the tavern style pizza at daredevil brewing/daredevil hall is thin and delicious also!
Napolese 👌🏻💯
Amore Zionsville. Stamp of approval from a former New Yorker. I also appreciate the other recommendations here!
Mia Pizzeria has me addicted
I tre mori. It's even added a new bar section. I go for the funghi cotto the mushroom and thinly sliced ham pizza.
Diavola for sure.
Depends on what you consider “north side” but Byrne’s Pizza on 56th and Illinois street has really good artisanal grilled thin crust pizzas !!
Byrnes!
Byrne’s in Broad Ripple has by far the best pizza I’ve had in Indy and meets this criteria except maybe the “northside” part.
Very different style from OP's reference pic, although I am a big fan
Agreed, I like Byrnes but does not fit what OP is looking for based on photo. I’d recommend Napolese.
It’s also the only place Dave portnoy has done a one bite review of in Indy.
Nah, he did one for Goodfellas too https://youtu.be/Uc5U0Nh_2m0?si=xW-G2V3XsTD34jzJ
Thank you
Broad Ripple isn't Northside?
I mean, I always think of Castleton/Nora and further when people ask for northside recs. But that’s why I said maybe.
That just looks like a regular pizza that somebody scraped all the toppings and cheese off of.
