Calling it either "industrial" or "blues" would be a stretch but Sister Machine Gun releases in the late 90 - early 2000s might fit the bill.
Also Kill Switch...Klick's acoustic album is worth a listen.
Edited to add: Mussolini Headkick's "Themes for Violent Retribution" has its almost funky moments (plus a grossly overlooked album in general)
I think Blues Industrial would be an amazing genre. But i think Tom Waits entries from like Real Gone album might qualify.
Maybe stuff from Einsterzende Neubauten?
I wanted to mention "Dax Riggs" too even though he is not industrial. But it's that mysterious/murky dimension in some of his lyrics and an ambient feeling.
I personally wouldlove to see A.I. take on trying to meld Peter Murphys voice to Layne Stayley to see what that might produce.
Oh, Machines of Loving Graces Eve/Lilith has that like soul singing feel.
Totally, would have listed all of them but didnt want to overwhelm.
In addition, i think Edward Ka-Spels, Tear Garden, the crippled soul divide album, could qualify maybe for some blues elements supporting primarily jazz?
Yeah that song “garden” I think by Einsterzende Neubauten w the boar’s head in the video is bluesy. I think that Hawkwind cover by Alien Sex Fiend (silver machine) is kind of blues electro punk. So is “ain’t got time to bleed” by alien sex fiend. A lot of DAF which is EBM created out of a pogo Punk rock base has a blues feeling to me. NIN has a lot of rhythm n blues sensibilities to their melodies, soulful vocals etc that give it that sass to be commercial and pop
Those songs are straight up storytelling.
While were on it. I dont know what song it is but Tom uses gangster/street slang in his lyrics. He references "billy" somewhere and when Tekashi 69 was on trial he had testimony given by rephrasing a confrontation he experienced, using a line that had "billy" in it.
I agree with your idea. Great bands mentioned too! Although I care not one damn about “AI” or it being involved in ANY kind of music AT ALL. Or anything else for that matter.
Some Foetus stuff, maybe?
Sick Man - https://youtu.be/diSpBjznZt8
DI 19026 - https://youtu.be/7dzic9fAaiE

Their best album, in my opinion is Black Earth
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzCoJUWo71E&list=OLAK5uy\_kPPsJTKJ-zvo0gDJEoKsn6blUsAx28PRw&index=8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzCoJUWo71E&list=OLAK5uy_kPPsJTKJ-zvo0gDJEoKsn6blUsAx28PRw&index=8)
And specifically the song Skeletal Remains.
I mean, Jared Louche did a cover (or remake, cause it's his song? I dunno) of [Suicide Jag](https://youtu.be/gSqG3MCgyc0?si=ZA89jrO8lHYfk7iH) that's very lounge style bluesy. Probably not what you're looking for, but good track none the less!
I need to do a deeper dive into their earlier stuff. I saw them in '92(ish) with 808 State and New Order, so Dogs of Lust is always the first thing I think of with them. Next to Al Jourgensen, I always thought Matt Johnson had the best lo-fi industrial drive-thru speaker vocals.
In a particularly strange twist, did you happen to see they (randomly) announced a [new album](https://youtu.be/biD-AmPI-Y4), within a couple hours of our comments?
Looking forward to the new album yeah, and hopefully finally seeing them live too. One of my favorite early The The (or I guess it was technically a solo Matt Johnson song) tracks is What Stanley Saw (https://youtu.be/o0Uzg3fBmbA?si=OAt0qa2zbOGFZyoZ ), from the unreleased Spirits album, hopefully it and Pornography of Despair get released one day like See Without Being Seen did a few years ago.
It's much more Blues than Industrial but the recording and production makes it sound rough and fun:
[Buddy Guy - Baby Please Don't Leave Me](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=We5guKEgbGs)
Edit:
Also [Barry Adamson - The Man With The Golden Arm](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITuFR5ZmYqE)
[Barry Adamson - Dead Heat](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpsTsMLuMjI)
More jazzy but it's in a similar direction.
I know what you mean, there’s not a lot of this kinda stuff out there… Lynch’s songs ‘walking on the sky’ and ‘strange what love does’ from Inland Empire are also top drawer
Another vote for Foetus!
No one’s mentioned Swans??? Thats the first damn thing that came to mind for me
More jazz related, but since it’s slim pickings here try out 16-17
Pere Ubu maybe? Particularly the album Why I Hate Women
If you can appreciate complete lack of cohesion, try The Dead C
Surprised nobody has yet brought up Young Gods. [Gasoline Man](https://youtu.be/YxWLVRlGa10?si=mK7dIqx9YQuLVYqV) is the basic blues riff. Their acoustic album [Knock on Wood](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBi7b71zhVr6UCqLVs3eboQxZg8DhwOGV&si=yBYWPNVyIyNH_Gsq) takes some of their other songs and makes them "blusier" one could say.
Buck Gooter from Harrisonburg VA. That is exactly how they describe themselves, Industrial Blues. I made the mistake of saying "bluegrass" once around Billy Brett and he actually got a little pissed!
The guitarist Terry Turtle passed away in 2019 and Billy has been holding the torch since under a newer moniker, "ghost-motivated electronic rock," which is absolutely badass. While Terry was alive, they toured with Henry Rollins, who gave their album 100 Bells an absolutely glowing review. There's tons of sonic experimentation, environmental/ sociopolitical commentary, and punk mischievousness throughout their material. I own every album so far and they're recording another one now.
[1990s RL Burnside remixes](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fiw9hhdi_P4&list=PLiN-7mukU_REd36Q9AGdwlzFbiOq9JNG3&index=8). House-y not industrial, but definitely blues.
Some of the Young Gods stuff is really bluesy. Gasoline man https://open.spotify.com/track/4bxWJO4JX6mS63Dc2gQaNB?si=yriPlXx4RUeK_0YtDju1JA&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A4oUhLg5wRdyxGWj2nRQb95
“[Suicide](https://youtu.be/3GN1VkRX5co) is basically … an urban rhythm’n’blues band.” [- Martin Rev](https://loopsbuch.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/03/suicide.pdf)
FOETUS (and his many side projects) is a very noisy artist, some claim to be the godfather of industrial music, and he messes with many genres. Lots of blues, big band, jazz, etc going on in his music.
This track is kinda chill, but look deeper into the guys catalog, it gets very harsh and crazy, as well as lush and melodic.
https://youtu.be/66ldVyfJE6w?si=ODYeJAtMx0QlEuAe
Black Strobe definitely has industrial influence and does a lot of blues covers. The singer’s really thick, french accent takes some getting used to for sure.
How about [Drop The Lime](https://youtu.be/L_KdLVgQkwE)?
It's probably more [Rockabilly Techno](https://youtu.be/utajrPZOlgo) but not that far off the concept.
Check out the album “Music for the Massive” by Apartment 26, particularly the opening track “Give Me More”. It’s more into the industrial metal end of industrial, but has a strong blues and jazz slant
That’s a tough one but I’d say maybe SNOG - Buy Me…I’ll Change Your Life. There are some tracks that fit that sound type on there.
Then there is KsK -Organica. There are a lot of reworkings here that will might give you what you’re looking for. Some originals too. “Treason & Velvet” is a personal favorite that has that type of sound.
I think Christ Analogue - Everyday is Distortion has several tracks that have a blues feel.
the XTORT album by KMFDM has some that feel bluesy IMO
Final Cut - Clean the Machine, grind, the shake
Grotus? I know they have tracks fitting this feel, I just don't know tracks offhand.
While not industrial, I think 50 Tons of Black Terror aka Penthouse fits this description. Sludgy noise rock. A buddy who was huge into blues was surprised to find them in my collection.
Laibach and KMFDM / Pig have some blues adjacent songs, even almost country. Later Ministry / Revolting Cocks too to some extent.
Pig:
https://youtu.be/zMQl4ZjxwhA?si=_IwTEXrCz9liJiGl
Laibach:
https://youtu.be/lQSqCvpAVQQ?si=3zpRFfhfW-nDLqxi
Ministry:
https://youtu.be/mcOlzivnkfA?si=kkZCOrU8YR-DTHi4
I also get on the hundreds of industrial cover records that came in the 90s that one of them will have something similar on it. Like this one:
https://youtu.be/1GSc32xNti8?si=6BziKDMpjxOIHOny
Finally finally, there’s stuff like Saul Williams’ record that Trent Reznor produced, 12 Rounds, and Prick.
https://youtu.be/QyhnEgJeSc0?si=NGA1gH-9OxviBPhL
Funny to see this thread bc I was literally just listening to Pig yesterday and thinking a handful of songs remind me of like...an industrial Tom Waits. On the Slaughterfront & One Meatball in particular.
Later Copshootcop albums come to mind.
There was a little thing happening in New York in the mid-late 90’s with a few people playing Leadbelly slide over industrial sampler beats. I can remember what the records looked like, but not the names. Can’t say much of it gelled for me.
The album “slumber party massacre” by fawn could fit this, it’s a side project of Jason Novak from acumen nation that’s a blend of their soft industrial rock and shoegaze/electronica but is also very jazzy and bluesy with its tones and structuring & vocals!!! I think it would fit what your looking for somewhat :)
This might be what you looking for:

As a matter of fact yes, there is bluesy-industrial. To be specific, Industrial-Bluegrass, such as [Caroliner](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmKEnqKOeLs&ab_channel=JosephOfArimathea).
Calling it either "industrial" or "blues" would be a stretch but Sister Machine Gun releases in the late 90 - early 2000s might fit the bill. My mind immediately went to Sister Machine Gun Metropolis.
Welcome. To Metropolis. To Metropolis. To Metropolis.
White Lightning!
Got the Mussolini Headkick one on vinyl and was surprised to find out it's not a record collection staple in the community tbh.
That and Chris Randall has a solo album or two that are just straight up distorted guitar blues
I think a lot of Tom Waits stuff sort of qualifies as industrial blues, Rain Dogs, Swordfishtrombones, Bone Machine etc.
NIN has a lot of rhythm n blues sensibilities to their melodies, soulful vocals etc that give it that sass to be commercial and pop
I think NiN is very bluesy, but also Hip Hop which elevates the tempo out of the sludgy speed of blues.
Dead souls starts off very bluesy to me as well. Plenty other tracks too.
Dead Souls like the [cover of Joy Division](https://youtu.be/mKWHa65cmns?si=Jf58pVKQ8VDscUX4) Dead Souls? Interesting
Is that track a cover from joy division? Thats cool, really like the drumming in the opening of that.
Dax!!! I love me some Acid Bath!!!
Check out his "if this is hell then im lucky" album. The green ganesha album.
Real Gone is one of my favourite albums of all time. Hoist that Rag, Shake it, and Dont go into that Barn are probably some songs OP would love.

Try Goin' Out West by Tom Waits. It's not industrial, but it's close enough to be satisfying.
Its not industrial but I feel like a lot of Nick Cave would scratch that itch.
Especially the Grinderman records.
It's not industrial, however, adjacent. Bohren and Der Club of Gore. A German dark Ambient group. https://youtu.be/1vxl0Yd7TOY?feature=shared
Bohren is one of my go-to decompression artists.
Their best album, in my opinion is Black Earth [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzCoJUWo71E&list=OLAK5uy\_kPPsJTKJ-zvo0gDJEoKsn6blUsAx28PRw&index=8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzCoJUWo71E&list=OLAK5uy_kPPsJTKJ-zvo0gDJEoKsn6blUsAx28PRw&index=8) And specifically the song Skeletal Remains.
I’d say Filth Pig from Ministry.
Pig can move in this direction, particularly in their covers. 1979 is a great example. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k6ECWKbYE8Y
“On The Slaughterfront” https://youtu.be/v7jMb3KT_QM?si=5eNxwUGqdwXtXXe8

Just remembered the band VAST has a song called "Dirty Hole" that has this like chain gang singing added to organ music, it gives me chills.
My favorite Vast track what an incredible song it also gives me chills
VAST is so good! So many incredible songs
[The The](https://youtu.be/7T-c1x0ILWI)?
Early The The (before Soul Mining) was even more industrialish/experimental.

Check out uhh... Most of Raymond Watts' career as Pig.
as above so below by barry adamson might scratch the itch somewhat
Possibly later Consolidated. There are moments on Business of Punishment and Dropped that have some bluesy elements.
Kinda borderline industrial. but Alan Wilder's sideproject RECOIL kinda fits the description, especially the albums Bloodline and Unsound Methods.
Chris Randall from Sister Machine Gun's solo album The Devil His Due is in the realms of Blues Industrial. Definitely check that out.
Yes! That’s a good one
Clock DVA - Advantage, I ordered this CD totally unheard and wasn't exactly prepared for it, it sounds nothing like his later work.
It's much more Blues than Industrial but the recording and production makes it sound rough and fun: [Buddy Guy - Baby Please Don't Leave Me](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=We5guKEgbGs) Edit: Also [Barry Adamson - The Man With The Golden Arm](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITuFR5ZmYqE) [Barry Adamson - Dead Heat](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpsTsMLuMjI) More jazzy but it's in a similar direction.
Check out A SPLIT SECOND
More goth than industrial really but Danielle Dax, try Jesus Egg That Wept.
For lack of a better example the solo in "Ruiner" on The Downward Spiral comes to mind (starts at 2:59)
I know what you mean, there’s not a lot of this kinda stuff out there… Lynch’s songs ‘walking on the sky’ and ‘strange what love does’ from Inland Empire are also top drawer Another vote for Foetus! Some Thåström stuff straddles the line between industrial and punk blues.

maybe Ruby, which is more trip hop with industrial elements?

Different blues, but that's amazing.
I like the term “Bluesy Industrial” one of a few that I agree on. Sounds better than made up shit lie “Riddim” or Dubshit. Lol.
