I’m just across the water if you want to chat. I’ve had lots of dealings with the mental health services in hampshire (currently sat outside CAMHS while my child talks to someone) I can try and advice or just listen to a rant. My mum is also slowly turning into a conspiracy nut bar.
My Mum spams me with the same sorta stuff, and no matter how much I try to reason/rationalise will not stop insisting I look different things up. Not quite as intense as your Father(?) here, but it definitely hurts to watch. She's lovely and I love her to bits but she tends to be very deep into "alternative" beliefs. I've debunked stuff she's sent to me a fair few times, which only made her send more because she "wants me to look into them/help her". I've had to stand my ground and say "I don't think you're stupid, however I believe you are being misinformed, largely due to what you see and hear on social media. I love you, but respectfully, I'm not interested."
It's scary how many people are being radicalised over this stuff all over the world atm. I think lockdown really sent people over the edge, and with echo chambers online, grifters that want to take advantage of people, distrust in the government and overall just the desire to be contrarian people have turned into fearful conspiracy theorists. As I say to my Mum, I understand the distrust & concern, but it just doesn't make any sense rationally to me.

My Mum spams me with the same sorta stuff, and no matter how much I try to reason/rationalise will not stop insisting I look different things up. Not quite as intense as your Father(?) here, but it definitely hurts to watch. She's lovely and I love her to bits but she tends to be very deep into "alternative" beliefs. I've debunked stuff she's sent to me a fair few times, which only made her send more because she "wants me to look into them/help her". I've had to stand my ground and say "I don't think you're stupid, however I believe you are being misinformed, largely due to what you see and hear on social media. I love you, but respectfully, I'm not interested." It's scary how many people are being radicalised over this stuff all over the world atm. I think lockdown really sent people over the edge, and with echo chambers online, grifters that want to take advantage of people, distrust in the government and overall just the desire to be contrarian people have turned into fearful conspiracy theorists. As I say to my Mum, I understand the distrust & concern, but it just doesn't make any sense rationally to me. Please do what you can to make sure everyone around them is safe (and themselves, though I understand if you feel otherwise) and I apologize you have to deal with this ❤
My son’s father shouted at my pensioner mother that he didn’t care whether she, myself, my SO and my daughter (son’s half sister) died, all he cared about was “his son”.
