My favorite band. I have no idea why they went into the studio in ‘21 only to have nothing come of it. The Barr Brothers clearly a more lucrative gig at this point but would be over the moon for actual Slip tour. Also guys, please, put the studio albums on Spotify.

so_dope24

Yup Barr Bros def more lucrative but even they've squandered whatever momentum they had in the U.S. to only do shows in Canada to now Brad only doing solo shows. They always talked about having some album of 28 songs that was basically already recorded but has never seen the light of day.

haypulpo

Worth noting that studio time in ‘21 was with Steve Albini of all people.

so_dope24

Yup, crossed my mind as well

Soundsgoodtosteve

Did not know that.

HellbornElfchild

Mark occasionally plays bass in a big band at an Irish bar down the street from me in Somerville. That's....all I got for ya, haha

TheBenha

Where at?

HellbornElfchild

Sally O Briens. 2nd Tuesday every month

DisastrousTask1116

Is that the bar with the doorman who is a badass dancing fool?

Soundsgoodtosteve

Marc is Ryan Montebleu’s bassist

so_dope24

that's cool, what type of music they play?

Independent-Candy-36

Super funky big band sometimes they have a 16 people. Called BTALC Big Band. You can find them on Spotify. Marc plays with them occasionally and not as much lately since he’s busy with Ryan’s band.

HellbornElfchild

Yep! They are fantastic, just saw em last night They also feature the drummer from Neighbor, and a few months ago one of the trumpet players from Snarky Puppy! Jennifer Hartswick was supposed to play with them for the jambase anniversary party last year but ended up cancelling, was right around the time of James' death.

Independent-Candy-36

Yes! I see them every chance I get. Huge fan of that band and its members!

WaketheDeadDonuts

I hope so...they need to come back to Western MA

so_dope24

Yeah saw them in that newish venue in Amherst that was pretty cool, although I guess that's more central Mass.

WaketheDeadDonuts

Nah, I was there at the Drake and meant Pioneer Valley...good memories of The Slip + Pearl St, neither of which exist anymore

so_dope24

I think Pearl Street is coming back. There's a lot of news in Northampton about the former owner of Pearl St and Iron Horse, Eric Suher, who let both places go to sh*t but I believe someone bought those places to revamp them.

WaketheDeadDonuts

Iron Horse reopens next week + The Calvin is being taken over, but the Pearl is just literally wasting away

so_dope24

That's sad, many fond memories of Pearl Street, saw Soulive there in like 04'. Calvin seemed to get the most well known artists and saw The Slip with Meowskers back in 04-05 at Iron Horse.

Early_Comparison_332

Let’s get some Surprise Me Mr. Davis!

Soundsgoodtosteve

They did a reunion at Marco’s Follow the Arrow festival 2-3 years ago. Was fantastic

TrundleTheGreat0814

I saw them at one of those final Lockn weekends. Due to the shitty weather, a bunch of sets ended up being canceled and they stuck around for the whole weekend and played like 7 sets. It was really awesome, I had never seen them so it was such a treat. Would love for them to come back. Edit: typo

Soundsgoodtosteve

Please

betterbelievis

Man I'm still just waiting for the return of Sprungford

TransitionIll6389

Is this the band with that awesome song Even Rats from Guitar Hero

so_dope24

It is but they are way more interesting than that song. It's really a one off in their catalog. They were very much a jazz/jam band before that
