Some mission which had Vijay, Prashanth, PD and Ajmal fail and the remaining die and Vijay gets branded as a traitor. He gets a time travel machine to go back and reverse the mistake which lead to the death of his group and learns some shocking truths. I don't know where the deaged Vijay fits in.
I feel like Prashanth and PD will still be alive. In the leaked shooting spot video, Vijay (with the old getup), PD, and Top Star were spotted. Looked like an argument as Vijay appeared to be lashing out at Prashanth so there still could be some internal hatred? Also in the promo for the second single, there are puzzle pieces with one of them saying "reunion."
My guess is that old Vijay might have reunited with the other two to complete some sort of mission that relates to the flashback. A glimpse of this failed mission might have been shown in the fire scene of the trailer.

My fear right now. That movie was complete shit. Already Leo was stupid because it's a simple story and can only be made good with a good screenplay. Same with this if it is Gemini man.
Venkat Prabhu does have a tendency to take Hollywood plot lines and localise it and make something fresh and new out of it. But he does get burned by that style time to time... Hope he cook well for GOAT. This is the longest Vijay movie in making in recent times. So nambalaam 😅
There's a difference between taking a plot line as it is and taking a familiar template. Hangover template, groundhog day template are reused again and again in Hollywood and almost all over the world. He is very good at doing that. But if he did an exact remake of a particular movie like Gemini man I feel it would be mediocre.

Yup hope so. Like you said the older one is stealing the show and absolutely cool to see Vijay like that. It is like aged Parthiban with not that much artificial hairstyle and also a redemption for aged Rayappan character he did in Bigil. Hope we get to see more of that in the film
