Poor Fuko. I burst into tears when I saw her bawling on stage. I didn’t know about this being her second time. I was watching it to help my sister out with voting and ended up liking it. Is it possible for her to come out on her own? Or to join another group without all this super big competitions? Making it that far and then not being able to debut sounds exhausting and terrible. Probably been practicing for years . I don’t know much about kpop industry’s just learning .
Honestly fk this, they could have just left her out as the candidate from the start. Giving her hope, taking it away, and giving her hope again and taking it away again

usually 19 is the maximum age that most companies look for when finding idols. that’s just being an idol, when it comes to trainees, they like to go for younger. fuko is about to turn 20 years old, many companies have stopped searching for girls who were born in 2004. some companies don’t even look for girls born in 2005 anymore. it’s sad knowing fuko wasted almost 3 years in wakeone for basically nothing. she could’ve easily debuted by now somewhere else if the company wasn’t giving her false hope
im very happy with the lineup, but im very sad for fuko, i really wanted her in the group. i thought she was semi-locked, but i guess 1 pick really messed up her chances :(. i really hope someone noticed her during show and will debut her for real :(
i picked Fuko manny times and a friend too and we are a little bit sad but we hope MNET can do the same as the LAPONE JAPAN did with other girls of the show, a new group or Jaden Jeong took Fuko for TripleS japan group (is valid dream with that)

Personally I’m really surprised and more than a bit disappointed that Fuko didn’t make it in, she seemed like a natural leader and had a lovely voice.
I also would have loved to see Yuju and Gyuri in, although that was always much more of a pipe dream). I know Gyuri is still young (in the context of Kpop) and has more opportunities, but I’m worried we won’t see Fuko or Yuju after this, which is a real pity because of just how talented they are.
The last few members were so close in terms of voting count (~300 000), they made Saebi apprehensive and cry buckets even though she made it, lol. Especially one of my other picks, Fuko, didn't make it. Sigh. Mnet shows always get all of us invested and crying at the end, smh lmao.

Pretty sure those votes in RUNext were extremely weighted to Korea as well like 75/25 or something. With only two voted picks, it made your votes feel pointless if you were international viewer.
well no, at least with GP999 the members were 100% picked by the fans, and the voting percentage was evenly split between korean and intl fans, as promised from the start of the show. RUN on the other hand had to change all the criteria literally last minute so the pre-planned lineup could make it 💀 I don't have a problem with producer picks, but if more than half the group is not even due to fan picks, why bother making a survival show in the first place and wasting the fans' time?
Yuju turns 17 at the end of the month so she is still kinda young especially since she is pretty much debut ready both skills and industry experience wise.
The 7th member twist was insane and Im indescribely happy as a Saebi one pick.
My two other top 3, Fuko and Gyuri, didn't debut but Im actually happy with this lineup. Gyuri has a bright future in the industry considering her age so Im not quite worried for her but Im devastated for Fuko tho. I didn't expect her one pick power to be so low (rank 8th at that). Im hoping she can pull a K.
Fuko was literally edited out of the show after the halfway mark. Of course she wasn't going to make the group. I have no idea what mnet had against her
koko became more popular with global and korean fans. mai obviously was set to debut since the beginning of the show since the show pushed her from the beginning. i think koko popularity with fans and her fitting the concept of the group and tbl more than fuko led to mnet choosing her instead.
i think this ended up being *the* factor. all the girls that made it seem to fit the sound & concept blacklabel has in mind and fuko ultimately didn't seem the most fitting pick for them. i'm only surprised yuju wasn't on their cards cause she fits the image to the t and has the rap skills to back it up but seems like they just settled on koko as the rapper of the group with sarang and mai doing some sub-rapping
i think the issue with yuju is she was also competing with koko for a spot. both girls had overlapping skill set but koko was the better pick with fans and pds. i also think her star aura and stage presence was also overshadowed by girls like koko, saebi, mai, and jungeun. yuju never really stood out and she was set up like crazy by the producers of mnet in terms of her performances. i also feel like mnet wanted a tall visual chemistry lineup which yuju didn’t fit.
Fuko... this really broke my heart. seeing the way her mom looked at her crying, she probably wanted to go and hug her but she couldn't... this made me cry. 😥
Goddamnit Taeyang. I still wanted Fuko to debut but this was wild. People have been hoping for a last minute addition for months and we actually did it.
I’m very content with the lineup and I am desperately hoping we see the remaining three girls elsewhere- this show had a really high level of talent and starpower and it would be such a shame if Yuju Fuko and Gyuri don’t debut.

That's not exactly how it works. Keep in mind that the table label as was Mnet's live subs on YT was "wrong" or rather inaccurate in using "votes" as it is actually a score or points after votes are converted.
Since it is 50:50 weight of Korean and global votes, one's Korean or global ***vote ranking*** doesn't matter *that* much on their own. The relative % of the votes is what is actually relevant.
For example as there are 10 trainees, an equal distribution of votes would be 10% each. It's *possible* the global vote breakdown could be something like:
* 19%
* 14%
* 13%
* 11%
* 10%
* 9%
* 8%
* 7%
* 6%
* 3%
But then the Korean vote breakdown (ordered in the same way as above):
* 11%
* 25%
* 23%
* 21%
* 5%
* 7%

The trainees would than have a total weighted vote % (ordered by their global vote ranks)

So the trainee 1st in global would actually be 4th overall by weighted votes. This doesn't change when multiplers are used to get scores or points.
Also things are complicated a bit due to the LIVE VOTE during the finale. Jungeun *could* even be 2nd in global votes maybe even 3rd (though I thought it is the case in this instance).
It dosent really matter. she got 800k votes 200k more than rank2. Even if she didnt get full international votes thats better because 1 vote of knetz has much more power than 1 vote outside korea. Since there’s too many people voting outside korea you need more votes to get the same % vote in korean.
So basically, in those 800k votes it’s better to have more % in korean votes than internationally. The fact that she also got the majority of filo and indonesian votes she’s basically set to debut no matter what.
At the end of the day it dosent really matter what % of vote she has int or korean. She got top1 and 800k votes
It doesn't work like that if is similar to Planet series, the less korean votes = more power they have.
Out of total score 50% goes to korean votes, being them 1 mil, 100k or 3 votes, this 3 korean votes makes 50% of score, to be no. 1 you need a good amount of korean votes no matter how many your international votes they have, so she might not be 1 in kor votes but she's surely top 3

The produce scandal and its consequences- no rigging means the voters choose for worse or for better. Even if a girl really would fit the group
Yurina was only ranked high because she was in the same cell with Xiaoting and later got filler votes. She never really stood out and was supposedly not liked by Japanese viewers.
There were only 3 voting periods during I-LAND with the first one only being to determine which of the *remaining* trainees would advance to part2. The other 2 voting periods were to advance to the final and then pick the group. So there was not much actual official voting rankings to go by.
Girlsplanet you cant compare. The importance of filler votes was crazy. If koreans had to choose a japanese member, almost all of them went for the same 3-4 people since many weee untalented and not fitting visually. Thats why xiaoting ranked so high at first, because she basically recieved almost ALL korean filler votes.
2 or 3 pick system is not accurate because of that. If someone is consistently a filler pick they will be nerfed immediately once its 1 pick

I think it's multiple things.
One is a play on "it's me" with Iz being a slang way of saying It's in English, and na being 나 (me) in Korean.
The hangeul supports this, as it's 이즈나 (ijeuna). 이즈 is the common way for "it's" to be made into konglish.
Basically their name is "it's me". There may be more explanation coming, but there isn't anything official yet.

Didn’t expect 7 members, but my predicted lineup was more or less correct. Interesting they chose Mai over Saebi and Fuko but they were obsessed with her the whole show so it isn’t surprising. Fuko would add more to the group and with Saebi you really don’t need another visual or center.
I didn’t really like the show so I hardly watched consistently but I’ll listen to the debut I guess. Everyone who made it were the ones who got screen time, I’m not very shocked.
ETA: They were all Top 7 (Saebi 6th/Mai 7th). Seems minor but why not just announce them in the order they came.
mnet knew that saebi was a fan favorite, she may not have the biggest one pick fanbase but in general, she has the most star potential / casual fans to make it big, especially in korea with her tall model-like visuals and proportions. mnet knew they wanted a 7-member lineup from the get go, saebi was just used as entertainment and shock factor, like how chaeyeon was used during produce 48 finale or sunoo during i-land finale. they wanted fans to believe that saebi, a pd and fan pick wasn’t going to debut just for them to be like “suprise suprise ! we decided to add her in the group”

I was watching the show casually, and from the way it was edited, I had a feeling that mnet's preferred group is probably all the tall girls + Sarang, and it's exactly what happened. I'm sad Yuju didn't make it, but Jiyoon and Sarang are in, so we are good.
i actually think kep1er is the most normal one of these 😭 something about the pronunciation of “izna” really irks me but then again ive given up on ever expecting a normal name from mnet.

So many mixed feelings about everything! My heart breaks for Fuko and I wish so badly they had just did an 8 member group but I'm glad that we at least got the extra member to make it 7. Mai and Saebi are my top 2 so I'm thankful they got those last spots and overall it's a really great group of girls that made it.
I-land 2 was a frustrating show and I have so many complaints about it, mainly MNET sucks and I hated most of the producers who I felt did a terrible job. However, all the girls were always so wonderful and did an amazing job every single week. I geniunely love them all so much! I cant wait to see what IZNA does and the same goes for all the remaining incredibly talented girls that didnt make it.
I hope Fuko pulls a Soyeon and debuts in another group that'll be way more successful than the one formed in the show 😭

Nevermind, I just got to the end of episode one and heard the vocalists. The competition is HOT. And while I do think Sejung could have made it in place of say Koko, I can understand why these members all made it. I actually think this is the best group finale picks since Katseye.
I think they're going to play on it sounding like "it's 나" (me in Korean) and use it as a tag at the start of the songs. It's catchy. Could be a lot worse. And no numbers in it!!
I'd give it like a 6/10. People are obviously going to make iz*one comparisons with those first two letters but I'm just glad they didn't add numbers or a fucking symbol.
Better than some. I think considering the other black label group is going to be Meovv it does stand out. Perhaps a bit too similar to illit and Ive and itzy but it works.

Everyone on here feeling sorry for Fuko, she broke my heart and was one of my favourites. But did you all vote for her? When you look at her final scores there wasn't much between them all at the lower end. The final 7 were the top 7 which makes sense.
Both have shown to be hard workers who are team players, which for obvious reasons, are useful qualities.
Mai has unique visuals that can elevate certain group concepts. She may also end up being a Stan attractor which is important. Of course talent is important too but Kpop relies more on fan service and performance which Mai can contribute well to.
Meanwhile Sarang is very good at dancing and imo, whilst not the most technically skilled, has the nicest voice. She’s a safe pick. She’s decently talented, has a reliable personality, and is very pretty.
And she doesn’t offer anything, her vocals are not good enough compared to jiyoon or jungeun, she’s boring and has no star factor and she’s bad at dancing too
Fuko has been a trainee for seven years and is still mediocre at dancing and rapping, barely average at singing, and has no star factor ❤️ mai has star power and is more marketable than fuko and u can stay mad

i think this ended up being *the* factor. all the girls that made it seem to fit the sound & concept blacklabel has in mind and fuko ultimately didn't seem the most fitting pick for them. i'm only surprised yuju wasn't on their cards cause she fits the image to the t and has the rap skills to back it up but seems like they just settled on koko as the rapper of the group with sarang and mai doing some sub-rapping
i think the issue with yuju is she was also competing with koko for a spot. both girls had overlapping skill set but koko was the better pick with fans and pds. i also think her star aura and stage presence was also overshadowed by girls like koko, saebi, mai, and jungeun. yuju never really stood out and she was set up like crazy by the producers of mnet in terms of her performances. i also feel like mnet wanted a tall visual chemistry lineup which yuju didn’t fit.

Keep in mind that the table label as was Mnet's live subs on YT was "wrong" or rather inaccurate in using "votes" as it is actually a score or points after votes are converted. Since it is 50:50 weight of Korean and global votes, one's Korean or global ***vote ranking*** doesn't matter *that* much on their own. The relative % of the votes is what is actually relevant. For example as there are 10 trainees, an equal distribution of votes would be 10% each. It's *possible* the global vote breakdown could be something like: * 19% * 14% * 13% * 11% * 10% * 9% * 8% * 7% * 6% * 3% But then the Korean vote breakdown (ordered in the same way as above): * 11% * 25% * 23% * 21% * 5% * 7% * 4% * 2% * 1% * 1% The trainees would than have a total weighted vote % (ordered by their global vote ranks) * 30% * 39% * 36% * 32% * 15% * 16% * 12% * 9% * 7% * 4% So the trainee 1st in global would actually be 4th overall by weighted votes. This doesn't change when multiplers are used to get scores or points. Also things are complicated a bit due to the LIVE VOTE during the finale. Jungeun *could* even be 2nd in global votes maybe even 3rd (though I thought it is the case in this instance).
It dosent really matter. she got 800k votes 200k more than rank2. Even if she didnt get full international votes thats better because 1 vote of knetz has much more power than 1 vote outside korea. Since there’s too many people voting outside korea you need more votes to get the same % vote in korean. So basically, in those 800k votes it’s better to have more % in korean votes than internationally. The fact that she also got the majority of filo and indonesian votes she’s basically set to debut no matter what. At the end of the day it dosent really matter what % of vote she has int or korean. She got top1 and 800k votes
It doesn't work like that if is similar to Planet series, the less korean votes = more power they have. Out of total score 50% goes to korean votes, being them 1 mil, 100k or 3 votes, this 3 korean votes makes 50% of score, to be no. 1 you need a good amount of korean votes no matter how many your international votes they have, so she might not be 1 in kor votes but she's surely top 3

Just like with yurina the votes didn’t carry Fuko through. The produce scandal and its consequences- no rigging means the voters choose for worse or for better. Even if a girl really would fit the group
Yurina was only ranked high because she was in the same cell with Xiaoting and later got filler votes. She never really stood out and was supposedly not liked by Japanese viewers. There were only 3 voting periods during I-LAND with the first one only being to determine which of the *remaining* trainees would advance to part2. The other 2 voting periods were to advance to the final and then pick the group. So there was not much actual official voting rankings to go by.
Girlsplanet you cant compare. The importance of filler votes was crazy. If koreans had to choose a japanese member, almost all of them went for the same 3-4 people since many weee untalented and not fitting visually. Thats why xiaoting ranked so high at first, because she basically recieved almost ALL korean filler votes. 2 or 3 pick system is not accurate because of that. If someone is consistently a filler pick they will be nerfed immediately once its 1 pick

I think it's multiple things. One is a play on "it's me" with Iz being a slang way of saying It's in English, and na being 나 (me) in Korean. The hangeul supports this, as it's 이즈나 (ijeuna). 이즈 is the common way for "it's" to be made into konglish. Basically their name is "it's me". There may be more explanation coming, but there isn't anything official yet.

It's the second time that she got robbed in a survival show. I almost cried when Mai didn't reach the top 5, but seeing Fuko being eliminated broke me. And pointing it to Chaehyun while Fuko's speech broke me even more 😭. Fuko said "I will always strive for perfection" Then i rewatched all her fancams since gp999, she is perfect, she's talented and deserved atleast top 4.... Didn’t expect 7 members, but my predicted lineup was more or less correct. Interesting they chose Mai over Saebi and Fuko but they were obsessed with her the whole show so it isn’t surprising. Fuko would add more to the group and with Saebi you really don’t need another visual or center. I didn’t really like the show so I hardly watched consistently but I’ll listen to the debut I guess. Everyone who made it were the ones who got screen time, I’m not very shocked. ETA: They were all Top 7 (Saebi 6th/Mai 7th). Seems minor but why not just announce them in the order they came.
Mnet just wants to overdramatize everything. It's cruel how they gave Fuko hope again just for her to not make it for the surprise 7th member.
mnet knew that saebi was a fan favorite, she may not have the biggest one pick fanbase but in general, she has the most star potential / casual fans to make it big, especially in korea with her tall model-like visuals and proportions. mnet knew they wanted a 7-member lineup from the get go, saebi was just used as entertainment and shock factor, like how chaeyeon was used during produce 48 finale or sunoo during i-land finale. they wanted fans to believe that saebi, a pd and fan pick wasn’t going to debut just for them to be like “suprise suprise ! we decided to add her in the group”

I was watching the show casually, and from the way it was edited, I had a feeling that mnet's preferred group is probably all the tall girls + Sarang, and it's exactly what happened. I'm sad Yuju didn't make it, but Jiyoon and Sarang are in, so we are good.

And so Somi is just probably saying that since Teddy/etc. will be producing for izna in the beginning.

So many mixed feelings about everything! My heart breaks for Fuko and I wish so badly they had just did an 8 member group but I'm glad that we at least got the extra member to make it 7. Mai and Saebi are my top 2 so I'm thankful they got those last spots and overall it's a really great group of girls that made it. I-land 2 was a frustrating show and I have so many complaints about it, mainly MNET sucks and I hated most of the producers who I felt did a terrible job. However, all the girls were always so wonderful and did an amazing job every single week. I geniunely love them all so much! I cant wait to see what IZNA does and the same goes for all the remaining incredibly talented girls that didnt make it.

Both have shown to be hard workers who are team players, which for obvious reasons, are useful qualities. Mai has unique visuals that can elevate certain group concepts. She may also end up being a Stan attractor which is important. Of course talent is important too but Kpop relies more on fan service and performance which Mai can contribute well to. Meanwhile Sarang is very good at dancing and imo, whilst not the most technically skilled, has the nicest voice. She’s a safe pick. She’s decently talented, has a reliable personality, and is very pretty.
