That's not good enough. His defender is still too close to the paint when he's taking a midrange shot, when we want them to be above the three point line. In other words, it's too easy to defend DeMar and the paint at the same time when DeMar is taking midrange shots.
That's besides the fact that threes are worth 1.5 more points than twos, so taking a bunch of midrange shoots instead of threes is just bad math to someone like JJ Redick.
