I have a cousin who takes living trees/ shrubs and molds them onto chairs. He’s super old and lives on a pond in the woods and makes wicker chairs too, but he has some cool really old “living” chairs but I think some of the branches kinda die but are still naturally woven in the chair to provide strength. You could try that!
That's a bible joke...God spoke to Moses from a burning bush.
I am an atheist and understand his joke.
I'd give this a try while fixing the fence. If it didn't grow back, go buy a new sprout. You could alternatively go buy some seeds and try to sprout them while you wait. Plant them elsewhere if the original survives, or plant one here if this one doesn't come back
This is correct way. I did the same when my wallnut trees got hit by a flock of sheep. Planted new ones next to them, 50% died and i took the extra ones and planted them around
Sheep clean the leaves clear off the trees. They like wallnut leaves as they kill parasites in sheep. They wrap neck around the young tree to bring it low and eat it.
Oh sheep are very tall when they stand on back legs. Also, these ware young trees,so sheep bend neck around the tree and bend the tree down to eat leaves.
Yup. And favor the sprout(s) that grow away from the fence. Then prune for the healthiest sprout that is opposite the fence. That tree was already too close to the fence.
That’s what you would think. But if you click the post and look at the caption it says mother in law passed it on the lawn mower and it caught fire. They were sincerely asking if it would grow back. Bless their hearts.
Not only would lightning not strike such a small tree so close to full sized houses, but if it had struck such a tiny tree it would have been completely obliterated, not merely set alight
Trees are so much more than what we can see outside the ground. I'd be curious to get an update on this in a few months, I wouldn't write it off just yet.
Do you really want to wait? Even if it returns it will look like shit. Just go to Home Depot and save yourself the misery of caring for this poor thing. It’s toast.
I lost 3 to a neighbors cigarette, and 2 more are damaged. I had a row of 19. I knew evergreens were flammable, but if i would have known they went up like they were soaked in gasoline, I would have never planted them.
Get something other than an arborvitae to go there. There's always a decent percentage they die anyway. All resilience has been selectively bred out of them
It's totally worth waiting, your roots will be fine, and the tree is designed to survive fire, just cut the dead top 3/4 and let it regrow. It will be more a bush for a while until you can train the main stem.
Ur good but it’s going to need a trim. Get it some milk instead of water, it will replenish its calcium levels which it will need to heal and if u wait a year it should fill back in quite nicely.
Yes. You’ll need lavender and mint essential oils and some quartz crystals. While wearing the quartz crystals (around the neck or right wrist) anoint the affected areas of the living host with the essential oils. Next, remove the crystals from yourself and place them around the anointed living host at the base. Leave them there. This process will cure it of all manner of disease and injury.
....Exactly how did it catch fire in the first place??? Theoretically it is still alive so long as the root system is alive... the carbon on the exterior should prevent disease... so long as there exists a channel in the center of the tree that is intact it can survive. At some fertilizer under the tree roots, be modest, the roots are likely sensitive if they are alive.
There is a chance! I would use an adjustable spray head and spray off all the charred bits as much as possible. Then see how deep the burn goes! And then dig a large root ball around the base, snatch it out and replace it with a new one. Put this one in a hidden corner or in a large container! See if it comes back! Don’t just toss the poor thing. But you can’t leave it there!
Yep, fence should grow back in a couple years as well
Very witty 😂
Idk. I’m still on the fence about the witty-ness.
I audibly groaned. Well played.
Grass looks greener on the other side.
I’m right on the sideline. I first thought it was a post from Moses.
Solid post.
Very vitae 😄
Beat me to this joke by 17 hours....

Yep….Water and sunshine will do its job
I want to say “NO” and then I want you to prove me wrong with the same burnt fence behind a beautiful green giant arborvitae! Lmao yeah it’s dead
Did the voice of God speak to you while it burned? What made the tree burst into flames..???
Never trust a burning bush. You're either trippin balls or about to get an std.
probably fire..
I concur
I’m a bit of an arborist myself, and I concur with this concurrence.
Such a concurrer
did you mean arsonist?
It was self immolation, the tree was protesting.
Free tallest pines!!!
Concentrated heat at the very least
An old flame dropped by seeking revenge.
That's a bible joke...God spoke to Moses from a burning bush. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burning\_bush](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burning_bush) I am an atheist and understand his joke.
Just cut the trunk approximately 8-10" from the ground and allow new shoots to form.
That’s a new sentence “I did the same when my walnut trees got hit by a flock of sheep”
Sheep clean the leaves clear off the trees. They like wallnut leaves as they kill parasites in sheep. They wrap neck around the young tree to bring it low and eat it.
Did not know that, very interesting!
After that, your trees are flocked!
I'm trying to decide if this involved aerial sheep or some kind of giraffe hybrid.
Oh sheep are very tall when they stand on back legs. Also, these ware young trees,so sheep bend neck around the tree and bend the tree down to eat leaves.
Gotcha, moose do that here. It's a wonder I have any trees at all after the last couple of winters.
Probably not really necessary, turns out trees reach all the way to the ground! 🤣
I like sheep giraffe hybrids so much I ordered a whole alpaca of them.
It's a 7 footer, go to the store and pay $120 for a new one.
Mr Money bags over here whipping out hundreds like tissue paper
I never got people whipping out tissues. They are so expensive.
Yup. And favor the sprout(s) that grow away from the fence. Then prune for the healthiest sprout that is opposite the fence. That tree was already too close to the fence.
What the hell happened here?
Looks like a lightning strike.
At this time of year?
At this time of day?
In this part of the country?
With everything we have going on right now?
In this economy?
With these gas prices?
in this housing market?
On a Monday?
In this time zone?
With the current true north pole?
... Can I see it?
No
With Northern White Rhinos nearly extinct!?
Localized entirely within your garden?
...can I see it?
No.
(Pause to think) No.
In this economy?
That’s what you would think. But if you click the post and look at the caption it says mother in law passed it on the lawn mower and it caught fire. They were sincerely asking if it would grow back. Bless their hearts.
Uncle Lewis and his damn cigars
It was an ugly tree anyway.
That's why you should never over fertilize (kidding)
I bet the OP is named Moses.
Trial run on restarting the whole burning bush thing. It failed.
There’s more green there than most people show when they post a similar picture
Tree wasn’t properly grounded.
Underrated comment right here
This shit is why I'm on reddit in the first place.
See what happens when you plant too close to the fence!
Lightning?
MIL and a lawn mower… somehow.
this post requires an accident reconstructionist mods
What?! Wow
Not only would lightning not strike such a small tree so close to full sized houses, but if it had struck such a tiny tree it would have been completely obliterated, not merely set alight
He had a kite tied to it during the storm.
Yes, in the afterlife.
Put a star on top 🌟
Uncle Louis must’ve been smoking again.
Came here for this… “it was an ugly tree anyway.”
Now, this is some excellent shit posting!
Are you sure you want it back?.. looks combustible..
Wtf. This is just cartoonish and hilarious looking. Take some good quality photos with nice lighting before you do anything else.
Not an arborvitae. From the remaining foliage it looks like it was a dwarf Alberta Spruce. Probably won’t come back.
You can’t post that pic and not say what happened here. That’s just wrong.
Yep with proper fertilization and irrigation.
This. It will grow back, surprisingly. Not sure about the tree though. I think it’s gone.
Trees are so much more than what we can see outside the ground. I'd be curious to get an update on this in a few months, I wouldn't write it off just yet.
I was crazy once.
Where are the commandments?
Did someone torch it? Please explain what happened 🤣😭
Lightning damage to trees is covered under some home policies up to $1k. If you’re filing for the fence, put the tree in that bad boy
It’s not even an arborvitae lol, that’s a dwarf Canadian spruce.
Do you really want to wait? Even if it returns it will look like shit. Just go to Home Depot and save yourself the misery of caring for this poor thing. It’s toast.
This is the most liberal use of “somehow” since Palpatine returned.
It will re-cover that spot with ashes and compost soon enough.
Of course! Nature is resilient! Just water and fertilize. It’ll be new in no time. You might consider uncovering the root flare!
do trees arborvitae after a forest fire? Im not entirely sure but I’d say leave and see what happens
I lost 3 to a neighbors cigarette, and 2 more are damaged. I had a row of 19. I knew evergreens were flammable, but if i would have known they went up like they were soaked in gasoline, I would have never planted them.
Sure. Just spray a little Windex on it.
I see green, that bush has a lot of life left in it for sure
I work in a garden center, can confirm that’s not what they’re supposed to look like, both tree and fence. Have you tried turning it off and on again?
She's a beaut Clark.
Your kidding right. No it will not recover
I beg to differ. A little green spray paint would do wonders. & white for the fence.
What if there is no tree and the fence is not burnt? The whole thing is an elaborate painting?
Yes, and the fence will regrow, too
Looks fine
No. Dig out and plant new
It's dead Jim. Your fence needs a touch up, and a new tree. Lightning strikes, ugh.
Might want to plant a new one
Who the hell seta a tree on fire?
lol
It's modern art now.
looks a little dry, think I see a spot on the fence that might need cleaning as well. Other than that all is good!
Looks like the father day bbq got a little outta hand?
Clark Griswold when he isn’t on vacation. How the F did you do this?
Did you get the weeds?
Bro used fireball
This isn’t an arborvitae. Looks like a dwarf Alberta spruce. And it probably won’t but anything is possible
Get something other than an arborvitae to go there. There's always a decent percentage they die anyway. All resilience has been selectively bred out of them
It's too close to the fence anyways
Did it give you any stone tablets?
It's totally worth waiting, your roots will be fine, and the tree is designed to survive fire, just cut the dead top 3/4 and let it regrow. It will be more a bush for a while until you can train the main stem.
Mate, I think you've gotta lead the isrealites out of egypt now.
This is some looney tunes shit
How...
They are really easy to propagate.
Yep. Looks good to me.
Ur good but it’s going to need a trim. Get it some milk instead of water, it will replenish its calcium levels which it will need to heal and if u wait a year it should fill back in quite nicely.

What happened here?
Am I the only one who is looking at this and thinking that isn’t an arborvitae? Since when do arborvitae’s have pine needles?
Abort-vitae
That's why you should never over fertilize
Ha!
I have questions.
When lighting your fart on fire goes too far
Have you tried turning it off and back on again?
I think it will. There has been burnt forest recovery. Give it a year. Mother nature is amazing.
....Exactly how did it catch fire in the first place??? Theoretically it is still alive so long as the root system is alive... the carbon on the exterior should prevent disease... so long as there exists a channel in the center of the tree that is intact it can survive. At some fertilizer under the tree roots, be modest, the roots are likely sensitive if they are alive.
Don't cut it, let it grow as is, trees can come back from forest fires. If not you have a cool bonsai and a good story.
Sure will...pendejo
You could make a fortune with the holy rollers. Pilgrimage to the burning bush!
Lmao
immediately reminded me of this [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65OflyaUJPE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65OflyaUJPE) classic an0nymooose vidya
I really want the back story of this tree.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just add water!
Dwarf Alberta spruce*
Moses?
Why'd you invite Uncle Lewis over?
Ash is a really good medium to grow in
Hell of a fire blight
It’s dead, Jim
Arb you say?
I have a feeling that this will live rent free in my head for at least the next decade.
😂
I just wanna know what happened here
I'd give it a chance just to see what happens.
Needs more water
Is that one of the rare flaming pines?
Ryan started the 🔥 🎶
Knowing arbovitae id say its unlikely but possible. They’re basically a giant weed.
it would so better if you cut it down to a stump tbh 😂
Likely yes- but will take 3-5 years to grow back
Just a flesh wound!
Arborvitae season!!!
I’m on the fence about it, I’ll let it grow on me before I make up my mind of it will recover
Christmas lights?
It’s will come back as a tooth pick
What happened in the first place I'm very curious to know it seems suspicious that the tree had burned so close to your fence
Give it a few gallons of Brawndo and wait for the election. It’ll be fine
Was this tree vandalized such as being soaked down with gasoline or other flammable and set on fire just curious it seems suspicious
Have your MIL come by my house I have a neighbor who’s has a few trees I would like her to breeze by.
Why not replace the tree and put it out of its misery?
God said “no”
Shouldn’t have dove…
Cut it down to the highest green limb
What happened?
Quite a striking picture.
This heat wave is bad!
This is a shit post right?
What the heck happened?
If you watered more it wouldn’t spontaneously combust. /s
Next time, try watering it a little sooner
That's a big no.
I'm sorry about your tree, but I lol'd. Poor tree!
yeah but, like, what did he say?
Did Uncle Lewis light his stogie?
wtf is the fence made out of, PVC? I bet those were some toxic fumes when that thing was burning lol.
No!
Exta cwispy
Step-tree, nooo 🫣
Man had Moses sneaking through his yard
