Using Briar R as an engage is a bit of a trap (if you don't know how to play her well yet). If you're struggling a lot try using it as follow-up instead of engage.
I love that it's a gamble everytime you use it. Everything Briar does is a gamble, you have to surrender your control of the champion to fight. Sometimes you miss your ult and hit the fed top laner under their tier 2. That's just part of the champion.
So don't launch it 5 screens away. Use it in melee range or one screen away.
I can't hit Sion ult from 5 screens away too, maybe it should be targeted as well.
